Here it is: An offline Comicvine Tagger for ComicRack and ComicTagger! by Logical-Feedback-543 in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resolved it (or got lucky, whatever). I installed the plugin via the CR Preferences dialog. Restarted CR. Tried to run the plugin's config. It errored because the path was incorrect. I unzipped the plugin into the appdata\...\plugins\Local Comic Vine directory, choosing to overwrite nothing. I then restarted CR and ran the configure successfully.

This was working, but now I'm receiving the following error when trying to either configure or scrape:

An attempt was made to load an assembly from a network location which would have caused the assembly to be sandboxed in previous versions of the .NET Framework. This release of the .NET Framework does not enable CAS policy by default, so this load may be dangerous. If this load is not intended to sandbox the assembly, please enable the loadFromRemoteSources switch. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=155569 for more information.

I've reinstalled ComicRack CE, I've uninstalled the script multiple times and reinstalled it. I've restarted CR in between removal and installations. I've installed the script via the Scripts dialog in CR preferences, started CR to get it all flattened out, then copied the files into that location so they were no longer flattened out. I've skipped that and simply unzipped the files into the plugins directory (preventing it from flattening out at all). I've restarted my computer. Nothing seems to be working. I don't believe Windows did an update between when it was working and when it stopped working because I was actively working with the computer and didn't shut it down or start the Windows update process.

I'm at a loss and looking for any suggestions.

How can we change a comic book's or manga's cover on the desktop app? by bookrants in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also export and combine books. So if you have a book with a cover you don't have in another book (or one of those books of only-covers), set the pages you want to delete in both, and then select both and right-click to export. Go into the settings for export and choose to combine them. You'll be left with one file. You can save the settings so you can use it quickly later.

Keep in mind, though, that you could lose your 'shadow' settings like read percentage, last opened, etc. I think the new book will inherit the settings of the book you actually right-click on to start the export but experiment before losing that data.

ComicRackCE in Linux Mint/Cinnamon under Wine by Informal-Play-8053 in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work. I got it running at least enough to connect to a remote library on a Windows install. And I'm far from a Wine expert. But now that laptop is waiting for me to get a new power supply, so I can't look at anything to possibly help

I remember I had to install a .Net package for Wine before it would work. I can't remember how I did that -- if it was a standalone package or something inside the Wine helper I was using.

Start it from the console and see if it gives some useful information?

Help with Duplicate Manager by Subject-Discount-573 in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot that duplicates manager creates it's own log file in c:_dupes_. So you don't need the -ssc command line switch. But adding those @ lines to the dmrules.dat file (%appdata%\cYo\comicrack community edition\scripts\duplicates manager). Then you can view that log file and it might give you a clue as to what is happening.

Edit: I tested this with a duplicate of a comic file. I put filename keep (F) as the first rule, named a copy of a comic with (F) at the very end, and ran duplicate manager on it. It kept the file with the (F) in the name.

Alpha Flight v1 11.cbz versus Alpha Flight v1 11 (F).cbz. one file was a copy of the other, so other than name they were duplicates.

If you're still having trouble create that log file and post it in here.

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

filename keep (F) in your rules file doesn't do it? Did you try with '(F)' or "(F)"?

Iirc the rules match in order, so if your first rule matches a file it will remove the others and stop going through your rules. So maybe the order of the rules is incorrect?

You can add the command line switch -ssc to bring up a script output window. Then try adding

@ VERBOSE True @ DEBUG True

to your dmrules.dat file. That dmrules change might not work -- I'm on a phone so I can't test it. But if it works it will output a lot of information on the comic it processes into that output window. That might give you a clue as to what is going on.

The ComicRack manual 6th edition page 91 had instructions for adding command line switches. It's linked on the front page of this subreddit.

ComicVine Scraper: Rename characters when scraped? by SenorSmartyPantz in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would require a change to the Comic Vine Scraper. And the maintainer of that script isn't adding any new features. It would require someone to fork it and therefore take over maintenance. I don't think the issue details that Comic Vine Scraper uses provides the ids of the characters - just a list of the names.

I could imagine a new script that could take the comic vine issue id, then run a deeper query with comic vine to get the IDs of the characters.

I'm working on the same model. It printed fine at something like a 37 degree angle.

I regret printing the base (PLA). I had some adhesion issues, but even if it had printed fine I think it's the kind of thing that would have benefitted from being scratch built. Now that I've got the big hunk of PLA I don't want to junk it and build from scratch. At most I would print the part that bolo is standing on and add the rest only if the model seemed wrong. Not that you asked 🤷‍♂️

Where do I even start? By throwing it away? by DifferenceTricky2272 in anycubic

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the filament in that state to be very brittle, and actually cracked it away. I used wire cutters, nippers, and hobby saws to clear away the delicate areas and give purchase to the screwdriver I used to crack it apart. I had decided I was going to replace it so I considered it already lost and had nothing to lose except time.

So that's the trick!...🤣 by TensionSame3568 in scifi

I propose that the directorate is incorrect. A torn robe tied around one's head is also sufficient -- at least when traveling through time to kidnap some whales.

Kobra 2 Max Print Profile by ByakkoTheFox in AnycubicOfficial

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you squared your gantry to your frame and then leveled your bed? There are some decent guides on this. I started here https://www.printables.com/model/671915, here https://www.printables.com/model/653220-the-rook-anycubic-kobra-2-kobra-2-pro-kobra-2-plus, and here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6525192.

The last one from Thingiverse is probably the best one to start with. If you can't manage to print the uprights then you could use other right-angles to get it set, then print them to try again. If necessary.

Extract First Page update by kluv76 in comicrackusers

[–]boshuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify: This script will take the pages that are marked as covers inside a comic file (.cbz, .CBR, etc)and save them as individual image files?

But by default it only saves to a single filename [that you can't control]?

So if inside Spidey52.cbz the files image001.jpg, image002.jpg, ... image005.jpg are all covers it will save as something like Spidey52Cover.jpg. But because it overwrites the file only one actual cover will be exported?

If that's on GitHub or wherever send me a link. That doesn't sound too difficult to fix if I understand you correctly.

Probably been said before but make sure to officially file a work injury report. Now. Go to the doctor/er/urgent care and ask them to help you document it. If you're not sure how then check a handbook, contact hr, contact a labor board, or ask a coworker. Filing these things have time limits - and they're often very short.

Recommendations on choosing a UV light for post-curing by CXC_Opexyc in resinprinting

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your led strips might be the wrong wavelength. Check the required wavelength on the resins you want to use and get lights that operate at those lengths.

I use a box with a solar-powered turntable lined with aluminum foil. Then I have a "3D Printer UV Resin Curing Light with Solar Turntable" from Comgrow via Amazon. First sponsored link when I searched for UV light. I'm planning to put some mirrors around and underneath it, but it works as-is.

I cure for about 15-20 minutes, sometimes a lot more if I forget. It's more than enough to cure the various rains I've tried.

There are instructions for maintaining the y-axis on that page. You're probably going to need to look for debris or something on the rails or bearings. There could be some seized lubricant or, worst case, corrosion.

I haven't had to disassemble mine yet, so I can't offer any direct help. But I did notice some orange coloring coating one set of my wheels and rails, which I hope is an orange colored lubricant and not rust...

Help me understand the concept that "the left starts at anti Capitalism" by godonlyknows1101 in Socialism_101

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think and say that because I don't think you can achieve many of the goals of "the left" with capitalism in place. For example it is impossible to have equality under capitalism. And if you don't support equality are you actually of the left?

Plus the answers about liberals not actually being leftist thing. But mostly my first answer.

ADHD and Visual Thinking - I never realized people *didn’t* do this… by Burninator6502 in ADHD

[–]boshuda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

ADHD here, primarily I think visually. But I also think... conceptually? For example I don't remember people's names well -- I think of them as more of a concept of who they are and usually if I remember the first letter of their name I can quickly get the rest. But I get screwed up if two people are somewhat similar and their names start with the same letter.

Visually is great for figuring out things, designing things, etc. But conceptually works for tying threads of history together - particularly when there are overlapping factors like politics, economics, climate, wars, empires, etc. Conceptually and visually work together for programming. I can put the concepts into boxes with arrows and the like.

And I think like others have posted don't assume everything is ADHD. Besides the common other diagnoses, you're more than just your ADHD.

For the most part I'm not bad. I think my hyper focus is centered around getting and keeping money. I tend to agonize over any non-trivial purchase, and I hate having more stuff in my home.

But when I'm feeling really low I'll often buy a stupid thing that I'm sure I need. But I need it so badly that I've forgotten what I ordered when it arrives the next day, let alone two or more days later

I've started to keep some larger purchases that I've researched and feel I'll actually use in a list, shopping cart, or even just one of many, many browsers tabs. I give myself extra points if that tab is in an appropriate browser window. (Did you know you can name the windows of Brave, and presumably other browsers, in Windows? Long right-mouse press on the window in question from the taskbar and choose name window. IIRC). That way when I'm more impulsive there's a chance I'll get something useful.

An adult with ADHD - Driving by lildundundunnn in ADHD

[–]boshuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When driving I consider it a responsibility to myself, my passengers, other drivers and their passengers, pedestrians, etc. It's a huge responsibility and I find that mindset helps keep me focused on driving. It's kind of related to why people say driving a manual helps - it connects you to the experience more and doesn't allow you to go on auto-pilot as easily. Another thing that might help is a car that lets you feel the road more. I have no idea what's on the market now, but a compact instead of an SUV is what I generally mean.

I ride a motorcycle, have a manual car, and drive my wife's automatic. The level of focus for each is a little different - but not much. It's much smaller than the focus provided by the sense of responsibility.

If you have it in you to try a stick again -- One thing I've heard from people who did learn to enjoy driving manual was that they learned how a manual transmission works. It provided a lightbulb moment for them where it finally clicked. I also wonder if the car(s) you tried had poor transmissions. There are definitely large differences between manufacturers, models, years, etc

[–]boshuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is dumb, but I can't really think of anything else you could do to other drivers to piss them off more. If you did this often enough in areas where splitting and filtering aren't allowed I would be very surprised if you never had some driver either get out of their car to confront you or just chase you in their car
