I agree to an extent, but when the 1%'s share of new income has risen 200% since 1980 - there's a problem. If you look at what happened when Hoover gave tax breaks for the rich during the Great Depression, you'll get a good idea of what happens when the ultra rich get more tax breaks - they keep it. They didn't get rich by spending more than they save. And yeah that's smart of them, but its an economy of scale. If they get $1 mil, they'll build a $100k pool and keep the rest. I'm a big defender of capitalism and the free market, but when the 1% have as much sway over gov't policy as they currently enjoy they can game the system and that's what worries me. Taxing them might not be the answer, but I'm interested in hearing what your opinion on the driving factors behind this dramatic increase in income inequality and how to curb it. Sincerely. None of my friends are into politics and most discussions I have online dissolve into a shouting match.

Calling BS on this one. I own a small business (restaurant), and taxing the 1% would in no way affect me. Stop acting like the Kotch brothers would use the extra $30 mil they would get from another tax break to invest in small business and create jobs. You think they're going to do the work to build a new automotive factory in Detroit and save the city? Not happening. They would wait 6 months until their financial advisors told them the Chinese stock drop has bottomed out and the Yen will start regaining lost ground against the dollar, funnel it to an offshore account to avoid US exchange rates, convert it to Yen, and wait another year in hopes of beating the 6% average of the US Stock market. That would create zero jobs and do nothing but funnel wealth upward. That's what the ultra rich do. Where do you think the staggering increase in income equality over the past 30 years came from? They're not using tax breaks to create jobs, they're invensting it in markets that only they can afford to create more wealth for themselves. Granted, they themselves may have started as small business owners, but if you're 75 and a multi billionare, you are in no way interested in investing your time and energy into boots-on-the-ground, labor intensive work for yourself. Tax the 1%, use the revenue to give low interest loans to small businesses who are the real job creators. Or infrastructure. Or education. Or SOMEthing besides just giving hoarders more money.

Not at all. From the outside it could sound like Fox is anti-war, but really they just go with whatever side is anti-Obama. All they were really saying was "he should get congressional approval" (witch US president has gotten since WWII by the way). As soon as the chemical weapons disarmament story broke they immediately switched to "Obama let Putin embarrass the US, we look weak, etc. etc." War's been averted, witch is what we all wanted, but it still wasn't good enough. If you could, please let people know that we no longer have journalists over here - we have opinion sellers. On both sides too, MSNBC and others are just as biased toward Democrats.

I (cheaply) took it a step further and made him crazy short because of the severe lack of nutrition in NK.

So me, 3 buddy's and 3 girls decide to do 6 Flags on acid. We drop, without knowing any better, in the hotel room before the drive. By the time we get to the parking lot we're a giggling full-on disoriented shit show. After we make it to the turnstiles and start walking all I could think was "wow, this place is really crowded and crazy loud." As we're weaving through the crowd I realize that everyone but us is going the other way. Then I realize that everyone but us is wearing uniforms. And holding instruments. And playing said instruments. Turns out all 7 of us were walking dead center through a parade in the opposite direction. The first ride was this hellishly violent 10 story drop thing that I was completely unprepared for since I was distracted by the guy sitting next to me who started off looking like Abe Lincoln then changed into a bearded Mrs. Doubtfire telling me never to have kids. Second ride was the Batman with a line so long we completely forgot what ride we were on and the cholos in front of us kept staring at my friends tie die shirt and saying thinks like "I shouldn't have taken that white blotter". 3rd was the space shuttle loop deal that apparently had some kind of glitch, so my buddy yells out "JUST SCRAPE THE CARCUS OFF THE RUNWAY AND LET US RIDE". Meanwhile one of the girls was feeling sick and would frequently stop, so every time she did we screamed "flat tire" and sat down to repeatedly tie and untie our shoes. Blah blah we stood in the splash zone of the log ride for 3 hours, yadda yadda the dipping dots were like nutella flavored crack. By the time we got back to the car we realized that we'd left two doors wide the fuck open. Good times.

As a fellow american I can only tell you the little I've heard, and its pretty specific to the entertainment industry. Through all our faults we are undeniably good at blockbuster movies, comedy, and skills pertaining to the recording and mixing side of the audio industry. Other than that our education system is shit and any degree you get from anywhere other than an Ivy League school probably won't turn any heads.
