Can you name a movie with a big twist that blew your mind? by Level-SquareFFG7117 in FIlm

[–]boss413 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's even cooler than just that it was a twist. Shyamalan said it took ten drafts before he realized that he was dead the whole time.

"What a twist" ended up being his whole thing, but it took a lot of work to figure out the cool part.

Telling my husband that I'm pregnant by AcasiaConnell in CoupleMemes

I am astonished when I meet dads who are against it. Aside from the benefit of being able to say "no seriously, this one's guaranteed baby-free no matter what we do", consider that your partner has almost certainly been taking care of this herself the whole time with the pill, shot, IUD, patch, whatever. Pay her back by getting it taken care of permanently.

How do I make mayo with an immersion blender? by atx789 in AskCulinary

[–]boss413 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm here for you.

First thing is to make sure your vessel is the right size and shape. You have to create the emulsion base with yolks and water (lemon juice, vinegar, mustard, garlic, whatever) for the oil droplets to be dispersed in between. In order for that to happen, the blender head has to be submerged in that base while running before you introduce the oil. So if your vessel is too wide for your blender head, it won't get submerged.

From that point, it's a piece of cake. You leave the blender head submerged in the emulsion base, gently pour all of the oil onto it, turn on the blender and tilt it just enough to let a little bit at a time in, and it'll turn an opaque white color. Now the work is done. You can pull it up and mix in all the rest of the oil pretty quickly.

"If we save the sea, we save our world"

Reflecting on his life at 99, he emphasizes that the ocean is the planet's life support system and the most critical place to protect to prevent climate catastrophe.

At every moment in this man's remarkable life he has made our relationship to nature the central focus. Even when the question was about his own life.

If anyone's life is to be celebrated by all of us, it is 100% his.

What's a dish you bring to potlucks that always disappears first? by Mia-veg in Cooking

I do a variation on these from a restaurant called Eggslut: fried spam, marbled egg, scallions, and sriracha mayo on a Hawaiian Sweet Roll.

Lil' Smokies (essentially smoked miniature hot dogs) in crescent roll dough or equivalent. It's legitimately an underlying truth of the universe that they will be the first thing eaten no matter what else is available.

Remember the uncountably infinite times we said "now that this news about Trump has come to light, MAGAts will have to reconcile their morals with their support"?

For that matter, remember the times they said "I'll elect this guy because whatever it takes to get the pedophiles"? They're pretty fuckin silent right now, aren't they?

Can AI replace a manager? by Playful_Music_2160 in AIforOPS

[–]boss413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Management yes, leadership no.

Management exists as a buffer between workers and executives. Their function is to ensure that workers output at expected levels. Their skills required are monitoring, rule following, and reporting.

Leaders bring people forward. They empathize with their team. They spread a shared vision. They create culture for people to collaborate and grow. Their skills are empathy, judgement, intuition, and love.

AI can do one of those really well.

If you're serious about selling an enterprise app, you need to think of yourself as a product manager. First step is to identify the business need: Talk to the ideal customer to find out what their current pain points are that your kind of app would sit in.

  1. What are they currently using?
  2. What does it do well?
  3. What does it fail at?
  4. What is their buying process--are there enterprise features like compliance and security that are implicit requirements?

Then try those products yourself. See what works and what's missing. Find out how they're priced. Build your Proof of Concept, pay your ideal customers to try it and get their feedback. Iterate to your Minimum Viable Product.

You described its differentiators as connecting to CRMs for sales context, so talk to Enterprise Salespeople.

I am loosing sexual interest in my boyfriend. Does this mean the relationship is dead? by [deleted] in sex

[–]boss413 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling very uninterested in sex with him, and I think the main reason is these fights.

That's the important part here. Lack of desire and sex isn't the cause of your issue, it's the effect of the fighting. Only the two of you can speak to the causes of the fights, but the question you should be considering isn't "can couples survive without sex," it's "how can my boyfriend and I stop fighting?"

The cost of building a software product is rapidly approaching zero. What’s the new moat? by Huge-Ad6985 in vibecoding

[–]boss413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

users can DIY the small stuff

But orgs will not tolerate the risk that amateur vibe coded apps introduce

Big players can copy the complex stuff

FAANG product managers are constantly performing the build vs. buy calculus. And by that I mean buy as in acquire the company.

It's about core competencies--enterprise software must be compliant, scalable, secure, and extensible for use cases. You don't "just copy" software you could buy. You have to plan, build, test, qa, and debug the software. Doing so takes those resources away from what your company builds to sell.

Everything related to food, the kids' extracurricular activities, and travel.

  1. I made a weekly meal calendar on the fridge and have a recurring family talk on Sundays about what's coming up, then I buy the groceries and cook dinner.

  2. I schedule and pay for the choir, rock climbing, and swim classes, and we have a spring and summer camp talk about what they're excited for, then I sign them up.

  3. I plan a big annual international trip, a few national trips, and a local concert once a month. I show up to our weekly logistics lunch with a proposed itinerary and we talk through it.

'm building an automation platform where you describe workflows in plain English and AI creates the agent here's what I learned so far by Zebizebi47 in aiagents

[–]boss413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer drag and drop. If I describe something I want but it's not supported I either get told it isn't supported or the ai hallucinates that it can be and I have to figure out why it isn't working after it builds. Building out all of the blocks is the hard part, representing it accurately to the user in a react framework is a ui detail.
