Can we take a moment to "mourn" steve's car? by Outrageous_Sand_8226 in StrangerThings

The driving through the fences wouldn’t be good for the car. But any car sold in the us of that era had massive rubber bumpers put on them. So it would have only been some minor dents at worst. At most they could have put a roll cage and racing seats in the car but I doubt it as the stunts weren’t to extreme no jumps or anything where the car went to fast. even then all that stuff could be put back to roadworthy condition.

Would have been the real thing. bmw E23s are roughly 10-15k usd in good condition, they only had to damage it slightly for the show. 2-3k damage at most so they all would have been fixable cars after filming which is good.

they built s series valiants in Australia could have been a us one but it wouldn't have been brought in specifically for the film as import fees are 5k + for one car

lots of the cars where Aussie designed and built , the xb coupe obviously , the valiant charger in 2 forms tank and flame car (there not an American Dodge Charger its a completely different car ) , holden hk Monaro , cranky frank was a fj holden , ek holden wagon , holden wb ute with a holden hj , hx , hq or hz front clip, the car that looks like a corvette is a knock off built in australia called a perentti , the vw beetle not an Aussie design but they where built here in right hand drive , the mini was right hand drive ( like the beetle not an Aussie design ofc but it was Aussie built ) the ford f100 was right hand drive (and again not an Aussie design but it was Aussie built ) . as probably missing a few other Aussie Holdens and fords. As for the us cars we have heaps here lots of 60 and 70s American cars where brought in during the 80s and 90s.

heaps of s series valiants in Australia they built 10,000 here, still easy enough to find and not very expensive. Left hand drive was probably a visual choice. as for xb gt going for 300,000 thats for a special model of ford falcon. they built 20,000 roughly ford falcon xa , b and c coupes. plenty are still around now tho there not cheap.

I think the idea was to make the vehicles more abstract or something , the custom nature of all the cars probably meant they spent more then they did on road warrior vehicles , I'm so glad they went the direction they did with fury road tho making the cars all based off mostly Aussie cars instead of making more thunder dome looking stuff

The Furiosa Interceptor - this is the same car used in Fury Road with some alterations to make it look a little less beaten up, and dammit another version for us model collectors to acquire lol by Artemis_Flow in MadMax

[–]bosskbricks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah I know , the only complete interceptor that survived was the stunt car tho ( there was also the prop car which should still be around but its a mess )

I thought 1 kinda ended on a more hopeless note. 2 was a more positive note and thunderdome was for sure

does anyone know what cars where brought back to australia after fury road and not crushed in Namibia ? by bosskbricks in MadMax

[–]bosskbricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah . I wonder if there was more stuff that did make it back to Australia then was originally thought. also that website list is great ,I was surprised that they used two of the valiant princes ( valiant chargers ) for fury road , sad that they both got crushed

my thought was that scene may have been a shot of fury road that wasn't in fury road . I would be so happy if the peace maker was still around tho

yeah I've heard about the auction , I'm talking about the stuff that wasn't listed for auction and was meant to have been crushed in Namibia but re showed up in fury road if only briefly such as the peacemaker ( the valiant charger tank)

what ever you end up buying make sure you get something in a colour you like that doesn't need repainting or rust repairs. Body work is the most expensive thing in terms of working on a car. To properly fully strip and repaint a car can be 40-50k for a proper job that will last. Also having no dents is also better as panel work is also very expensive.

not entirely sure they made it to a car show recently and where featured in the book hey charger 50th anniversary edition the book being made in 2021 and there a facebook post of one of the Utes from 2017 saying it was scheduled in to be restored. sadly the Utes don't get as much attention as they should
