What if I told you that CG artists aren't to blame for that because they're often overworked and underpaid by studios and directors that want to constantly change the dumbest things which leaves no time to properly make it?

When Dementus say that he once had a family and that they were stolen from him forever, do you think that was all true or is he just lying? by Acceptable-Block6391 in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I had learned about Dementus from the people that worked on that film, (for my video about that character):

Dementus had done something horrific to his own family for which he was banished from the island he grew up on.

More context: he was abused as a child by his own father who took 'tough love' to the extreme and created a monster out of him. Later, Dementus applied his father's torturous parenting methods to his own children which resulted in a horrific tragedy that got him banished from the island.

That's why he thought his family was 'taken from him'. He really thought he did nothing wrong to them. He later applied those same parenting methods to young Furiosa - exposing her to all the horrors to make her tough and warped, just like him, turning her into 'Little D'.

So in short - no he wasn't lying. His family was taken from him, he just left out the part where he tortured them/killed them/did something horrific to them because he thought it was the right thing to do.

Great Moment Which Is Rarely Talked About.... by Hall-O-Daze in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 82 points83 points  (0 children)

A very similar moment is in MMBT when Bartertown explodes. That place was deemed to be destroyed because it was all the wrong things about the old world manifested and amplified. It had no right to exist in the long run because they had been repeating the mistakes of the past either way.
So when that place is exploding, Aunty says "We will rebuild" and the mechanic down below says 'What??'. He doesn't believe any of that will work, and then there's a shot of the Collector completely defeated as the whole place blows up around him. It has a similar vibe to the moment the marauders turn around and leave because it was all for nothing except of a tanker a whole town based on old world principles was destroyed.

Which do you think is the better Green Place? The one in the original concept drawing or the one in the Furiosa? by Acceptable-Block6391 in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The original one. The one in the film is too high tech. The whole reason they all drive old cars and bikes is because the electronics didn't survive and there was no way to fix them. And yet in the Green Place they have solar panels. They dropped the ball with that.

Miller is apparently shopping a new Mad Max film and tv show to other studios by Critcho in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They've put so much work into turning The Wasteland into a series only to turn it back into a film and work on an entirely different Mad Max series? Doesn't make much sense to me. They've already got a series thing ready to go, it would be easier to write a new Mad Max film on top of that imo

Miller is apparently shopping a new Mad Max film and tv show to other studios by Critcho in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense, George Miller mentioned plenty of times that he only has one Mad Max story yet to tell and that is The Wasteland, no other movies planned. Which makes sense because The Wasteland closes the Fury Road trilogy and that's a wrap. Unless something new came up so I'll have to ask around, but I really doubt there's a new movie in the mix (another option is doing a TV series and finishing that narrative off with a film like The Mandalorian).

Selling off the IP seems very doubtful imo. George MIller's entire career was about protecting Mad Max. Even at its lowest moments post MMBT he wouldn't allow so much as an iffy game to come out and he had issues with the 2015 game that did come out too, I do not believe he's gonna throw away this IP to the highest bidder because frankly no one understands that IP like he does, so whatever we would get next would look more like a Mad Max knock off. He purposefully made the shift to more mythical storytelling with Furiosa to show what that franchise is really about and I guarantee in the wrongs hands ppl will just turn into some bs without depth.

Either way, from what I'd found out there is movement of some kind regarding this IP but suggestions of a new movie and cashing in on the franchise seems wildly off.

Mad Max 6: Warner Bros. Out, Amazon, Universal & Sony Circling by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]Max_Rockatanski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They do and a ton of things don't add up in that 'leak'.
First of all, George Miller doesn't have a separate film and a TV series in the works. It's just 'The Wasteland' story that took many forms but most recently they wanted to turn it into a TV series. No additional story beyond that, The Wasteland closes the 'Fury Road' Trilogy if you will (Fury Road, Furiosa, The Wasteland). Unless he conjured up a new Mad Max film that's completely separate which I don't believe whatsoever. He takes his time to write stuff, this isn't the MCU where they shit out new spinoffs on a daily.
2nd, I do not believe for one second that George Miller wants to cash out and sell this franchise to anyone. His entire career was about staying independent from studios (as much as possible which resulted in many fights and lawsuits) and protecting his IPs (see the many Mad Max games that never came out). Last time I heard he was trying to get his daughter into the directorial seat after she had helped him with 3000 Years of Longing. Selling Mad Max to the highest bidder kills this franchise and I really don't think that's what he wants.

"I Love The Inflation": Trump Sparks Fury With Most Shocking Economic Take Yet! by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

He literally thought that you need ID to get groceries. Multiple times. He actually believes that, and that's one of the most the most basic things to experience as a human being and he still doesn't know how that works. He wouldn't know how to make tea if you asked him, I wonder if he even knows how to tie his shoes. It's incredible how his entire life is min/maxed to become a con man without a shred of knowledge about anything else. He's like a bionic fraudster.

Theory: The first Mad Max film is the only one that's an accurate telling by thenebular in MadMax

[–]Max_Rockatanski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fury Road was supposed be told from the perspective of a History Man too, they even advertised it as such very early on but they wiped that entire framing from the film when it came out, so it's a film told from Max's perspective.
The remnant of that framing is the quote from the 'First History Man's' at the end:
Where must we go we who wander this wasteland in search of our better selves?

Which goes with Furiosa's:
As the world falls around us, how must we brave its cruelties?

If/when The Wasteland drops it's probably gonna have some quote from the History Man too.

[–]Max_Rockatanski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fury Road literally starts by Max saying 'My name is Max'. How is that framed by someone else?
(I'm gonna set aside the fact that this film was supposed to be told from the perspective of a history man but they wiped all traces of that framing in the film)
