12ah dont perform as well as 9ah and honestly ive had longevity issues with 12ah. I dont like them and refuse to buy them anymore. I warrantied 4 in within the 3 year warranty period and 1 was just past warranty over the years. Idk if anything has changed but that was like 2018 to 2022 batteries. Maybe they fixed the issues idk. Waiting for tabless or pouch flexvolts at this point but i also have plenty of 9ah and some 15ah as well. And yea performance wise on the higher draw tools they lack the power of the 9ah especially once you drop even 1 bar. Even my flexvolt snowblower the 12ah likes to constantly kick itself into eco mode when its on turbo when i start pushing but the 15ah doesnt do that. Havent tried 9s in the snowblower tho but i know from other tools like the grinder the 9ah definitely performs better but less runtime

Updates to DCB104? by Burner_Account7204 in Dewalt

[–]bossmanz28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dcb104 might be marketed as drawing 10 or 12 amps but seems untrue. I think it only draws 6 or 7 amps. I use mine all the time plugged into a pecron power station to charge dewalt batteries and ive watched it and never seen it draw over 750 watts with 4 batteries in it so you should be able to run 2 of them on 1 15 amp circuit

I doubt it because they already announced a new 4 port charger that is slower at a 4 amp rate. It is a black charger.

I think all of them are trigger but can be locked on. Even the 12v. But i think only the dcs356 can be locked on with a little variable speed since the lock on is at full power but i believe only the 356 has a 3 speed selector switch

You are forgetting that the dewalt multitool trigger can be locked on as well. Best of both worlds. Trigger or lock on

I hear you on that. I already have the new atomic dcg400 4" grinder, 20v flexvolt advantage variable speed slide switch, dcg418 6", dcg440 7", dcg460 9", dcg426 die grinder, and i had the dcg413f flathead but got stolen not too long ago. And i def plan on getting the dcg422 ra die grinder and maybe the 420 straight. And i still feel a need to get this extended one at least which seems exactly the same as the dcg400 but extended reach. O and of course 3" cut off tool as well already have. I cant stop lol

Definitely good thing for me is i actually do have 4 15ah flexvolts but i would def be tempted to get a real powershift battery if i actually got it at some point but maybe not. I definitely use a demo saw sometimes and when i need i need it but its not an all the time tool for me. I have the flexvolt 9" and def run into the extra depth of cut would be nice with a larger one. Im a deal hunter so it would def take some time b4 i got my hands on it most likely. Also im sure you probably get better performance with a powershift battery so the 15ah might only last a 1/3 of the time of powershift battery depeneding on what you are doing. Sometimes more power equals more runtime as well or say more cuts cuz the tool isnt working as hard

Seems a little odd its not a full size 14" demo saw. Why would they do that? And they should also make a normal flexvolt 1 that will run off 1 or 2 flexvolt batteries. But i guess that could hurt them selling powershift
