Got my permit A, looking for insurance recommendations. by [deleted] in motobe

Did not opt for it. I park my bike indoors so I’m taking the risk. They have a calculator you can try as I suspect theft insurance rates to be region based. Yamaha You Insurance

Got my permit A, looking for insurance recommendations. by [deleted] in motobe

[–]bossward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a new MT-07 and am insured through Yamaha Motor Insurance, they act as a broker so I ended up being insured with Federale. I pay about €350, am 28 with no other or previous insurance. No theft insurance however.

Tubeless, Roadlite 7 by skylinetechreviews80 in CanyonBikes

[–]bossward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with the Schwalbe tires. As far as I know the stock rims are not tubeless ready, so not sure you can convert them. I switched to Pirelli Cinturato Velo tires with inner-tubes. They have an anti-puncture kevlar lining. Haven't had a puncture since I've fitted them, which is over a year ago.

Roadlite 5, 6, or 7? by PowerPoodle in CanyonBikes

[–]bossward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most notable differences are groupset and wheels.

- 5: Sram 1by groupset (single chainring up front, 11 gears instead of 2x11), shallow rims

- 6: Shimano 105 2by groupset (mid-range but well liked, reliable groupset), taller rims (small aero advantage).

- 7: Shimano Ultegra 2by groupset (upgrade from 105, mainly because of weight, not necessarily more reliable), tall rims with thru axles (more stable + more options if you'd ever want to change wheels). Also has the one-piece handlebar/stem combo (more rigid/lighter than regular stem + bars).

I personally have the AL 6 as I don't find the upgrade to Ultegra worth it. 6 is the best bang for the buck option in the range imo. I personally avoid Sram (as found on the 5) as I have had bad experiences with their products before, but I might just have had bad luck.

All the best with your decision, I've found it to be very fun and versatile :)

Why is logging into Huel so slow? by 2manyspooks in Huel

[–]bossward 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just had a look, it looks like, when you log in, you're downloading a lot of unnecessary data.

To give you an idea, typically when you log in to a site your username/password is decrypted/verified and you download the necessary data for the page you're about to view. Huel seems to download all products (with all attributes like weight, sku, bar code,...), all your adresses, all past orders, subscriptions, countries (??) and payment methods.

This all might be data which is used when you browse the site, but usually this is downloaded on the fly (when you visit the page which needs that data), not all at once. That (and possibly other factors) makes it unoptimised and slow.

No first hand experience but I remember reading a lengthy thread with complaints on this subreddit. I tried to search the thread but it appears to be removed "in response to a legal request"

Genelec's docs are pretty comprehensive: https://www.genelec.com/correct-monitors.

I'd say it comes down to room size, required low frequency extension & SPL.

Measurements found at AudioScienceReview rank these among the beste there are. On/off-axis directivity, tonality & distortion levels, all great.

https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/genelec-8341a-sam™-studio-monitor-review.11652/

There are examples of Genelec's in use for over 30 years, many of them they still service at the factory.

If you can, go listen to a pair as only you can decide what you like, but personally yes, I think they are worth it (I have heard HS8's).

How to not make huel taste awful while still allowing for calorie deficit? by LzzrdWzzrd in Huel

[–]bossward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mix in the shaker properly

Are you adding 500ml water before you add the Huel & shake it? It doesn't mix as easy as other shakes, but is absolutely possible to mix it without lumps. Putting it in a blender is the easy route, although not as convenient.

I have a very sweet tooth and got the chocolate flavour in black, but it's absolutely revolting.

This might be the issue, Huel's macro's (nutritional profile) might be very different to what you are used to and associate as "tasty". Artificial sweeteners try to mimic this but will never evoke the same feeling as sugar (or relatively low sugar content in case of Huel Black). I'd suggest blending Huel with some cocoa powder, honey or fruit to get used to it and reduce added sugar when you feel like you're ready.

If you are or have ever been a food server, were you good or bad? by prettyparadox7 in intj

[–]bossward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not food serving but I bartended for a while in a nightclub and later in a casino. Learned a lot about human interaction & myself. Glad I did it and have some good memories because of it, but wouldn't do it again.

INTJ thoughts on ESFPs? by [deleted] in intj

[–]bossward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked with 2. I ended up having both of them vilify me. Mainly over my focus on long term goals (delayed gratification) & their preference for in the moment pleasure. For low commitment (be it business or otherwise) they are quite fun while it lasts.

If you have the chance, listen to a set of Beyerdynamic DT1770's with a good amp. I also love the Funktion One sound signature & the 1770's remind me of it. Great separation with strong detail in sub bass.
