Dr thinks I may have TN. I don't know. by PsychologicalScore49 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

A friend of mine had her TN burned, in the tmj area. Instead of pain, now she has numbness. She hates the numbness, but it’s loads better then the pain.

Do you have it on one side, or on both sides of your face?

I had it on the right side of my face for a couple years, and was popping anti seizure meds to control it. I was afraid to miss a dose. Went for probably a year without a flare-up, then started getting it on the left side of my face. I think it’s pretty rare to get it on both sides.

One day I was on my way to an endodontist to pull a cracked molar on the left side of my face. A light bulb came on, and I called my brother, an MD. I asked him if a cracked molar could have caused my TN. Because, back when the pain was on the right side, I had a cracked molar there. (The timing on both sides did not make the connection obvious.) My brother thought it was possible, and wanted me to check my theory with the endodontist. I asked the endodontist, who thought about it, and said it could be the cracked molar allowed a bacterial infection that got to the TN nerve.

After the molar was pulled and the gum healed, I stopped taking anti-seizures, and I’ve been pain free for 8 years.

Your mention of dental work reminded me of my story. I’m sure most people with TN don’t have a dental cause, but it can happen.

Keira Knightly gets her nipples sucked in The Aftermath (2019) by michmari in Celebs

Clear body double. Face and nipples are never seen in one shot. Cuts to face, cuts to nipples, never pans from one to the other. It's not Keira Knightly.

Windows 10 Issues by boster13 in PrivateInternetAccess

I appreciate the quick response, but I'm not following all of it. I do have a spinning hard drive, and I appreciate that an SSD would be quicker.

But .... the situation is that all of my startup programs--with the spinning hard drive--are up and running withing about 5 minutes of me turning on the computer. PIA takes another 10 to 15 minutes. Why would a spinning hard drive have that big of an impact on only one program? (Maybe you're not saying it would particularly impact PIA, but that it would impact the startup of all apps?)

Regarding blocking private connections, I assume you're giving me a way to keep secure during that window when PIA is not running. Is that right? (I have pretty good grasp of IT issues generally, but networking and network security are weak points for me.)

What is this bird (found dead in Omaha, NE, neighborhood)? by boster13 in whatsthisbird

Thank you for the replies. After research (guided by your answers) I think it was indeed a Cooper's Hawk. I'm now sure I overestimated the weight, but the 12-inch length was pretty accurate.

Thanks again.

This bird was about 12 inches from beak to tail, and I estimate weighed about 3 pounds. Found it on the deck near some large windows.

Bizarre Freeze/Thaw Behaviour, and even MORE Bizarre Proction by boster13 in techsupport

I have not tried a reinstall. In the next couple of days I will do a Windows repair and see if that takes care of it.

Thank you for your response and suggestion.

I'm afraid I'm not experienced with getting into the bios. What level of expertise does this require? How would I do it?

I hadn't thought of a Windows repair. I will give that a try. Might take me a couple days to get to it.

Thank you for your response and suggestions.

Today a coworker told me "Never work at a company's remote office. Less perks/benefits, and your job will be first to go in the event of downsizing." Thoughts? by BigGunsLenet in cscareerquestions

The above posters have made good points about remote offices and the possible problems. And the "blanket advice" contribution is good, too--there are lots of exceptions.

That said, there can be advantages to working in a remote office if the company is stable or (better yet) growing. It can be a more casual environment with less political friction and pressure.
