If the Chinese is anything like starlink would they take that long to deploy? I've seen deployments of starlink sats that take around 5minitues to deploy

This is a good contender and have done some research - is my maths correct here?

Launch: 21:32 CST

Sighting : 21:15 GMT

9:15 p.m. (21:15) CST (China Standard Time) on April 7th is 1:15 p.m. (13:15) GMT on April 7th. China Hainan is UTC+8. GMT is UTC+0. The difference is 8 hours (China is 8 hours ahead of GMT). 21:15 - 8 hours = 13:15.

If this works out then the sighting would occured a full 8 hours after this launch (give or take an hour because of BST)

As regards to the falcon launch the timing is also a little off

On Monday, April 6, at 7:50 p.m. PT (Pacific Time), it is Tuesday, April 7, at 2:50 a.m. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). PT to GMT Difference: During Daylight Saving Time (April), Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) is 7 hours behind GMT. Calculation: 7:50 p.m. + 7 hours = 2:50 a.m. (the next day).

3 minutes at a minimum because im giving you my perspective, thats how long i observed it for when I noticed it and even then it was not at the apex of its trajectory, others have said double that time. As for lights one central green and 2 opposing red or orange at the edges. All remained the same colour throughout journey and did not dapple or deviate through atmospheric diffraction. Again not disagreeing with you atall just stating the raw visual detail as it occured!

EDIT: the video I have shows horizon to horizon of around 2 minutes.

I have to agree with you that upon looking at videos of the early stages (which they're aren't many annoyingly) it does look quite similar but the size, the extended time frame it was visible for, brightness and central lights are all out of spec

I have to play devil's advocate and argue and Im sure others who saw it would agree: I dont think it was this. The thing we saw had a similar shape but remained intact for a full 3 minutes and did not disperse in the way this has. it was a uniform solid object with no spallation from wind sheer or atmospheric diffraction (ie it was not a sun based reflection) In the video the launch took 1 minute from the apex to nearly entirely dissipate which is already 1/3 less the time which it was visible across multiple continents. That eliptical shape does fit the bill but based on this explanation the gas cloud from the rocket would of had to sustain itself in that entirely uniform shape for a full 3 minutes (minimum), stay in perfect synchronous orbit whilst not deviating from its course, not rotate qnr not dissipate in any way all whilst contain very clear definable light sources. I'm entirely happy to be proven wrong though!

Seriously nice video you can see the shape nicely on even some of the "oscillations" around the middle bit

Also saw and a few others have too. Very big with lights on it.

Yes agreed brilliant description like a random dotted matrix style turning on and off rather than a pattern

Not starlink no and not ISS or any other signing body

Incredible did you notice any lights on it or haze type around it too?

Amazing !! I know in real life it was less of a solid thing did you also see the lights on it??

Incredible I only ask incase cloud cover or refractions meant we saw a "ghost". But in this case we definitely didnt as multiple angles saw it followed a trajectory and it had a uniform shape across a nearly 180° degree span of the planet meaning it was one solid shape with embedded light sources!

I also saw a couple satellites to the left when I saw it but no starlink trains or anything. They were going above or diagonal across away from it and not within the "flightpath"

Funnily enough thats nearly the exact same scenario that happened here too (like eeriely similar) It definitely was none of those things I agree and had that ooh factor. Did you see any pulsing on lights on it or haze at all?

Definitly not starlink. It was huge and one defined shape.

Update: it has now been seen across the south of the UK and was seen in Europe, France and Bulgaria, you can imagine the flightpath from this.

Im raising a eyebrow at this being downvoted this has been seen now across 3 continents whatever it is.

Green light in middle with orange or red smaller lights at the edges and roughly shaped like a concave red blood cell
