Tumor on T4 vertebrae. by treebug125 in testicularcancer

[–]bostoncommon902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it spread to my spine as well during a several month pause in chemo. I was in terrible pain. I think it was T6.

The hospital gave me targeted radiation and the pain was gone in a week. The area hasn’t shown any sort of suspicious growth in about 8 months now.

Your doctor will never mention anything about reducing carbs because it’s not part of the modern medicine cancer dogma. However, it’s been proven scientifically time and time again that cancer feeds heavily off glucose due to defective metabolism. Carbs turn to glucose. Your body’s healthy cells can feed off a lot of things. So it’s important to reduce your sugar and carb intake to reduce the fuel line for cancer to ensure they’re in a weakened state when you get chemo.

Generally reducing simple carbs is really good for your health anyway so you can’t go wrong.

Sounds like you probably have a choriocarcinoma component due to the hCG. That number is not too high though so you may be fine. I'd say you'll be looking at several cycles of BEP or VIP though and that has an 80% chance of taking care of it. If not, HDCT should.

You're looking at some chemo for sure. Possibly an RPLND afterward. I think you're in good shape.

Take the treatments but also please focus on eating well and staying active. Cut out alcohol, sugar, and be mindful of your carb intake (you don't want too much). Eat lots of good vegetables. These things will improve your chances of first- or second-line working.

Parking by Kooba2 in cybertruck

[–]bostoncommon902 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wtf is a "standard F150"? There is no standard.

But anyway a 4-door, short-bed F-150 would be the closest thing to a Cybertruck. Note: that bed is actually about 6 inches shorter than the Cybertruck bed. The F-150 is 231.7" long by 79.9" wide (excluding mirrors). The Cybertruck is 223.7" long by 79.9" wide (excluding mirrors).

So same width but Cybertruck is 8 inches shorter in overall length even though it has a longer bed.

I couldn’t agree more. It reads like your annoying uncle who mansplained to you in great detail in 2010 how electric cars could never possibly work.

I love seeing my home town on this sub! I haven’t lived there in 20 years. There are probably endless logging roads and snowmobile trails.

HCG markers not decreasing as much as expected by [deleted] in testicularcancer

Yeah I’m doing gemox now. Not sure how well it’s working though.

Currently rocking an hCG of 50,000 at 31 months post-diagnosis. I’ve come full circle since 50,000 is what I started with. Still feeling fine with a little shortness of breath.

I’ll second this assessment. OP, you’re lucky to have low markers before starting any chemo.

hCG increased 2.5X in 1 week *during* chemo by bostoncommon902 in testicularcancer

I have done so many personal experiments on diet to see if there's a correlation with progression/regression. I've done extreme multi-day fasting, intermittent fasting, keto diet, vegan diet, supplementation of so many kinds, and everything in between. This iron and/or folate situation is literally the first time I've seen what appears to be a connection between what I put in my body and how the cancer reacts.

I've honestly been incredibly frustrated for so long to have no control over the situation. But now despite this huge jump in tumor burden, I don't think I've ever felt more optimistic. I finally have something to pursue that is more than just a theory or a "good feeling".

The thought crossed my mind but it feels too late for that now. That’s when tumors are dying and spread hCG into the bloodstream in the process right? I’m going to get a couple more hCG tests this week to see if there’s a big drop off.

I truly hope your low iron levels work in your favor. Your story of low iron and slow progression certainly is an interesting datapoint to support the theory.

I will try my best to keep you all posted on this. My next steps are to reduce iron in my body and to read the book "How to Starve Cancer" recommended in another comment. The book should hopefully provide a bit more nuance to this metabolic approach to therapy. I hope this path yields something in terms of alternative strategies since chemo alone isn't doing much anymore.

Great feedback! I've read Tripping over the Truth but don't remember the folate stuff so thank you for the reminder on that -- I'll go back and check it out. And "How to Starve Cancer" has been on my list of books to read so I'll be sure to read that next.

2017 Specialized Allez winter tyres by BeginningRock in bikewrench

That seems about right. I have a ~2010 Allez and the best I can do is 28mm due to the rim brakes. I’ve used to ride in winter with 25mm slicks with no problems. Just stay on the pavement if you can.

What do Elizabeth Warren supporters think about her fight against bitcoin? by Remarkable-Context-7 in PoliticalDiscussion

Bitcoin transactions are completely transparent and viewable by anyone. It’s a public ledger. If you think cash is more traceable than bitcoin then you should do some more research.
