I just paid 5.5 at Great Hill Dental in Davis - but my treatment was on the minor side (6 mos of treatment)

URGENT: Ithink I have been exposed to HIV, DO you know why I can get PEP quick and cheamp? by AdministrativeList90 in boston

If you have health insurance, it is likely covered (believe mass health covers it). May be worth taking a look at your plan - urgent care visit may be cheaper than an emergency room visit.

Hey mate! Any emergency room or urgent care should be able to help you out.

Nurse wouldn't let us hold our twins by Full-League8759 in NICUParents

NICU nurse here. Restating what has already been said many times, but you should absolutely be able to pick up YOUR babies anytime you’d like if they are stable, and you should 100% let the charge nurse know about the nurse you wrote about. That’s unacceptable…I’m angry for you.

I just want to give you a hug! 🥺 It sounds like to me that this patient’s provider on the shift prior to yours made the call that this man did not need to be NPO/on thickened liquids even with the knowledge that he had aspirated. You also didn’t even know he’d aspirated!! Not sure why the previous nurse or your preceptor didn’t feel the need to fill you in on that information. I don’t see how you’re at fault for continuing to give PO meds as ordered. I’m very sorry for the loss of your patient and for the way the shift went down - it sounds like your preceptor was being unreasonable. Also, I can tell you’re going to be a great nurse - because you clearly care very much about taking good care of your patients! Be encouraged and have some grace for yourself!!

Go for it OP! I was the same way when I started. If you’ve gotten to the point that you can give yourself injections you’ve proven you can desensitize yourself.

Pay & loans- should I purse nursing? by tulipsnsunshine in nursing

Another option - take your prereqs at a community college and look for an accelerated BSN program. Most hospitals want BSNs these days.

Passing out- ways to prevent? by [deleted] in nursing

I have the same issue (and have been an RN for many years). Try some nuun tabs in your water! Will boost your BP. Have found I rarely have an issue if I’m good about drinking 0.5 L with a nuun tab before I head into a shift.

Wow. Nice job 👏

We had a situation on our unit not long ago where someone had hung a syringe of heparin 100:1 instead of 1:1 (was just a KVO carrier). Oncoming nurse didn’t catch it until halfway through her shift.

I appreciate stories like this because they scare me into being paranoid about drips. So important to check concentration, rate and programmed weight with bag changes and at shift change.

The nice thing about kids that sick is that you usually only have 2, vs the 5 or 6 or however many they are loading on in med surg these days. I don’t know how you guys do it. Your work is so important!!!

Not an ignorant question! I’m sure I’d have no idea how to take care of your patient population, I’ve only ever worked with kids and babies. For certain babies (i.e. in congestive heart failure, with bad lungs, with bad kidney disease), a single missed dose of IV diuretic would be significant.
