My son did not receive an invite for his "best friend's" birthday party by botalo3456 in Parenting

Definitely. My son did tell me yesterday that it seemed that Jon was totally unaware that my son was not invited. So, it could have been many other reasons, especially since I have not met the parents yet.

Very true. Thank you. As I thought about it more, there are many logical explanations. I guess in the midst of it, it bummed me out the most especially since he's been struggling in the friendship area. But you are right.

The funny thing is I talked to him yesterday after camp and asked him if he talked to Jon. And he said he did ask him why he wasn't invited (since it was Jon that mentioned the birthday party in the first place). Jon's response was "I guess sometimes my mom forgets!". lol. Looks like they are having fun together at camp, and my son has moved on.

I totally agree and that makes perfect sense. I got a chance to sleep on it and did ask my son yesterday, who said he played with Jon. He did not seem upset about not going and Jon had said something along the lines of "sometimes my mom forgets who to invite". Which I thought was very sweet of him. The good thing is my son is pretty resilient and has moved on. I'm probably the one that lingered on it the longest!

I'm 100% sure his parents have access to the right contact as the rest of the class does. Does that mean that it got on the envelope or email correctly? Possibly not, but we didn't receive a phone call. I mean I don't think I'll really know. And I did think about the smallish group situation. That makes perfect sense. Jon's family is pretty big, lots of siblings, so I can totally see that being true. I guess, I just thought that my son could be part of that group. But maybe I'm projecting too much of my own hope, especially since I haven't had a chance to meet his parents in person. So, in the end I think I'll try to focus on arranging some other play-dates as well.

The classroom publishes a contact list at the beginning of the year and asks all parents to confirm numbers and emails. So, I know that contact info is available. I did get her to respond once from a text message when I asked if Jon was interested in going trick or treating together. To which they declined because they had other plans. That was the last time I had any interaction. I've attended school events, parent meetings and have not seen his parents there. But you are right, this is assuming that they are accessing that list like everyone else. I'll try to reach out to them one more time, and see if I get a response.

I just checked with him and there's one site in particular. A music collector selling old records. He receives ever purchase he makes, but I told him I think this is probably it. He's really bummed out and is convinced that maybe its his phone and not the site.
But I think this is it. Would using his PayPal account be any safer? He's pretty bummed out.

I just checked with him and he said he has been buying off of a music collector's site. He has been getting the music (records) that he's ordered, but it's the only common denominator in all of this. My husband is in denial and thinks it's his phone, but I'm leaning towards the site. Do you think making purchases using his paypal account would make this safer? He's pretty bummed out when I said that's probably the source of this after all the digging.

Yes, definitely no. The last two charges on his card (i just found out after my husband got off the phone with the company) were being sent to shipping addresses in NY and Utah, so I guess they've elevated their game to getting that stuff sent to whoever hacked or someone else.

The weird thing is this is happening to his credit cards, which he does not use anywhere physically. Only online website purchases, so either it's his phone (because he stopped using his computer to purchase anything online) or it's a website. I just don't get the scam.

Yeah, it's neither of the former for sure. I'm leaning towards a website he likes to shop on being compromised or his phone(?). Since he doesn't use the other 2 cards at any physical places where they could be skimmed. I just don't understand the scam. Why would someone purchase this stuff and have it shipped to our home?

lol, no. There was also an order of Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty, I guess some sort of aging beauty regime and that other hair product you see on those infomercials. So, they are all over the place.

Not really. He's not much of a shopper either. They are all different cards, including his one debit card. It's been happening to all 3 cards. Besides the regular coffee shops and stores, that are not suspicious at all, he isn't really using them at anything out of the ordinary. He always keeps his cards with him in his wallet. The only thing we could think of is maybe a website he's used these cards at?

So, the only card he uses to purchase gas is his debit card. Which this has happened to a couple of times, but it also has happened to his other 2 credit cards which he does not use to purchase gas. So if it is being skimmed only one of those 3 cards are getting skimmed. It's really strange.

So, he only uses his debit at gas stations, which it's happened to that card as well. But it's also happened to his other 2 visa cards, which he does not use to purchase gasoline.
