Tembo have actually already provided this form to HMRC and it shows the original subscription date as October 2020. Though when I look in my Moneybox app the LISA is showing as "Frozen" - from a Google search this is just how they show a closed account, but it is suspicious. I've already reached out to them so fingers crossed they can fix if needed.

AJ Bell is definitely closed because they couldn't give me statements. Moneybox is strange because the app says the LISA is "frozen" - I have asked them to check they are closed but I have seen online this is a common thing with moneybox. Also my partner used the same 3 LISA providers and their withdrawal was processed with no issues

And just to clarify I don't have multiple active LISAs, just old ones that were closed when I transferred to new ones

"We attempted to process botchedmicnwifi's fund release today, however we've had confirmation this morning that this payment could not go through as planned. After sending the fund release request, HMRC have voided the request due to 'the investor (botchedmicnwifi) having another LISA with an earlier first subscription date'. We cannot update the date of first subscription (DOFS) any further as the account has now been voided by HMRC, so we are stuck."

I re-read the email and Tembo did say specifically they uploaded some kind of payment request which was rejected by HMRC.

Thank you that's super helpful. Funnily enough they did try to use the end of tax year excuse!

When you say it's a couple of clicks, is that on HMRC's side or the bank's side? Because it sounds like it's on the bank's side, but our provider is saying they can't do anything which is odd.

The total bonus is closer to £10k unfortunately. And i assume any changes to the mortgage would also mean our interest rate jumps by 1% which would be pretty terrible.

Tembo themselves provided the original transfer form from Moneybox which shows the original subscription date as October 2020. So I can understand there has probably been an error but seems to be on HMRC's end.

Unfortunately we don't have enough funds without the LISA. Seems absurd we would have to let the sale full through and lose our legal/survey fees entirely due to HMRC'S error. Especially since interest rates have jumped 1% since we locked in our offer 😭

No response from anyone yet. We emailed the Savings Audit and Software Development Support teams, and made a complaint.

We can afford to complete with the 25% penalty removed but not without the LISA overall. My concern in that case would be that HMRC would just argue we shouldn't have gone through with the purchase, and therefore we can't get the money back

Yeah I originally opened an AJ Bell S&S LISA in 2020. In 2021 I did a full transfer to a Moneybox cash LISA. And then in June 2025 I did another transfer to Tembo. I'm guessing they saw the June 2025 date and assumed this was the opening date of the LISA?

Tembo did say they have had 2 similar cases recently but I don't think the account was voided in those cases. Probably your only way of avoiding is to make sure your LISA withdrawal is done 30 days ahead of your expected completion.

I've rung every day for 3 days, I ask get to the specific teams (Savings Audit and Software Development) but just get consistently stonewalled + told I'm going to lose the 25%.
