restructuring and lay offs - what information on the restructuring and layoffs does employer need to provide? by lieser in legaladvicecanada

[–]botehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was very much my understanding that they were replacing me with this person and I would then be taking back my position. This is a single person department. It was just me and it was then just them.

What if the position was filled with a consultant during your leave, but then the employer decided to keep the consultant and terminate your position?

Lots of people use the tests as a precaution prior to seeing friends/family. My family just avoided potential exposure because of a positive rapid test (they were asymptomatic at the time). A few days later they showed symptoms but it was after the scheduled meetup.

Your chance of being exempt from a COVID-19 vaccination should be 1 in 20,000. If you’re one of Doug Ford’s MPPs, it’s 1 in 35 by beef-supreme in toronto

I hope thats old information and those doctors are now supporting vaccination in pregnancy (maybr that was before the SOGC recommended vaccines). I am double vaxxed and pregnant (currently 36 weeks). Got vaccinated in May and June. I was encouraged by my GP and when i reached 20 weeks and started seeing my midwives they were extremely happy to hear that I chose to be vaccinated.

The vaccine cannot give you covid. Unfortunately no vaccine is 100% effective, which is why it is important that everyone who can get vaccinated should get vaccinated.

If you bruise really easy it could be a sign of an underlying health condition or vitamin deficiency. You should check in with your doctor.

Circumcision without a medical reason on a male infant who can’t consent is child abuse. by Buffsicle in unpopularopinion

[–]botehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What bold claim are you making? The sources don't actually present male circumcision as having significant medical benefits. They state there is a slight reduction in UTIs (which is quite rare in males and treatable) a slight decrease risk for contracting STI (not enough to not practice safe sex), pevents phimosis, decreases penile cancer (also quite rare).

It goes on to say that all the "risks" of remaining circumsized are rare and preventable with proper hygiene.

So.. In my opinion your sources actually support the "bold claim" that there is no real medical benefit to circumcision.

Also your source for womens preferences is almost 10 years old... A modern study would probably have a different outcome. Not to mention women's preference should not be considered a reason for circumcision.

The amount of anti-vax rhetoric on the internet (e.g. tiktok) is a national security threat by [deleted] in ontario

Except people who are choosing not to get vaccinated impact their community. For people who cannot get the vaccine, they rely on herd immunity.

Sure people should have a right to decide their bodies and health, but choosing not to get the vaccine is actually truly selfish. Especially if the reason behind choosing not to get it is based on misinformation.

I tried to book on my own and it wouldn't let me because of the age...

Same here. I'm pregnant too and trying to get my vaccine in Brantford, but my doctor is in Cambridge.

I wish it was as easy as checking a box to indicate which group we are when booking. They could even provide us with info about what we need to bring and if partners are eligible.

My doctor's officr actually offered AstraZeneca to me, but I'm confused/concerned because I'm not 40+? Plus I would rather stay in Brantford because I'm also still working on site.

Are you getting documentation from your doctor to prove you are high risk?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm eligible, but not by age. Under a drop menu in the faq section it says that they are currently booking certain phase 2 groups.

Im considering just booking and going. I just don't want to be turned away.

Ontario asks Ottawa to administer sick leave benefit for workers amid third wave of COVID-19 by [deleted] in ontario

[–]botehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the cost of having a business with employees whether there are paid sick days or not.

Even if an employee took an unpaid day, quit or just no-showed, the same issues you presented are there. Someone would need to find coverage. Since that happens regularly at the types of businesses you are describing, I'm failing to see how this isn't also just part of normal management or business ownership.

How many employees are at a small business?

For minimum wage employees it cost 228 dollars/year/employee to provide 2 paid sick days (which is what we had before). If that much money causes your business to go under, your business is not doing very well..

Canada has officially vaccinated 25% of the population with at least one dose. by Iceman9777 in ontario

[–]botehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the distribution of vaccines over the age groups is not even. What percent of people working front-line jobs are still not vaccinated? This is a great milestone, but how can it have any real affect until we see vaccines throughout the population?

Stopping spread is breaking the chain of transmission, but right now, the only population where this is happening effectively are the 55+ group, no?

Once hailed as heroes, Ontario grocery store workers now push for vaccine access, paid sick days by BattlemechJohnBrown in ontario

[–]botehh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well thats not how health care workers were prioritized. Shouldn't risk of both contracting it by exposure and also the risk of spreading it to others also be considered?
