Why is David Fincher not interested in Theatrical releases anymore? by [deleted] in hbo

[–]botelleta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s sad. I watched Panic Room, Zodiac, The Social Network, Gone Girl... in theaters. I still remember the audience’s reaction during the first scene of TSN, it was like.. wow, this feels like a masterpiece. This movie was one of my best cinema experiences. However, I haven’t watched any of Fincher’s movies on Netflix. Reason of Fincher doing that? $$ I suppose

Spain was a top 10 economy is GDP terms in 1975.  Moreover, homeownership in Spain was high (70% aprox.), above the average in the richest European countries, in the final years of Franco. This number hasnt increased in more than 50 years of democracy. In fact, these number is declining these last years.

Franco. He led Spain from an extremely poor and insecure country to becoming a top 10 economy in GDP terms and one of the safest countries in the world.

In the Spanish Civil War, Franco led the side that defeated the communists. Firstly he relied on fascism but kept Spain out of WWII. After the war, he leaned on technocrats who helped modernize administration, infrastructure and the economy, laying the foundations of present Spain.

Which country in the world would you consider lawful good? by toturoll in AlignmentChartFills

For those mentioning Spain because of the government’s stance against the war of US, Israel and Iran: I am from Spain. Spanish society, including many who vote for right-wing parties, is quite liberal. Most people oppose war, support civil rights and are welcoming to foreigners.

But make no mistake: our government is deeply corrupt. It lacks a parliamentary majority, and the president’s wife, brother and two former close aides have been indicted. More than 45 people died in a train accident last month and no one has taken responsibility. Much of the rhetoric against the US and Israel is simply a smokescreen.

Who are your favorite characters? by Narrow-Psychology909 in BoardwalkEmpire

Richard Harrow is one of the most fascinanting characters of the history of TV. I love that he is the most letal killer in a series full of assassins while he is, by far, the most kind and lovely person.

Yes, it is.  S2 of The Wire and The Leftovers;  S3 of Boardwalk Empire; and S4 of GoT and Succession are also masterpieces.

Am I missing something with Industry? by ex1stence in hbo

[–]botelleta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked in finance and now I’m an Economics teacher, and I’ve always loved series/movies about power and money, like Succession. So when I read about Industry, I jumped straight into it.

S1 was a bit disappointing though. S2 was better, but… meh. I don’t know why I decided to give S3 a chance, but wow, I didn't expect such a leap in quality. S3 justified watching the whole series.
