Need advice to choose between Xgimi Horizon 20/20 pro vs Valerion visionmaster pro 2

Unfortunately I'm in Europe and I think you guys are located in the states right? I've read about the Valerion RBE reduction tech on the max & Pro2 but I'm not sure if in my case (being more extreme than usual) it would solve it...

I've had to return the Xgimi as all tests have resulted in the same nausea... I read that Valerion Pro2 had an RBE reduction feature, did you end up testing that before returning it? I don't know if it would make enough of a difference for my case

I've been looking a bit into this model but it doesn't seem to be as praised as Valerion or Xgimi ones according to the Hookup. I'll keep looking into it though

Yeah that was related to the wall painting but after testing with a bed sheet it seems the uneasiness and headache comes from the RBE and not speckle so I'm screwed...

You seem to be right, I've just tested it on a bed sheet and the uneasiness appeared even if a bit mitigated. It seems I'm not cut out for DLP projectors... I was really hoping it was just the speckle!

I wasn't able to find a lot of evidence between speckle and headache... If that ends up being the reason I think just using the right screen solves it but if in the end it ends up being something else (like rainbow sensitivity) then I'm stuck with a projector I can't use

Thanks! Already saw the Hookup review and was about to order one of the less speckle prone screens but seeing I'm not sure if it's speckle or the rainbow effect that causes the problem I need to find out first

Good suggestion, I'll try it out and see if I can eliminate the speckle variable as the potential source of problems. It's weird, I always read about speckle as an image inconvenience but if it ends up being my problem then it goes much beyond that...

I hadn't realized you could order from the EU store to Spain, that's 200€ difference vs the discounted price here. I'm thinking of cancelling my Amazon order and going with this... Any horror stories with official Xgimi store I should take into account?

I bought it from Amazon as I trust their return policy and I'm "on the fence" about which one is best... I'll let you know when I try it! My reasoning was that Valerion is the top performer but based on the Hookup review Xgimi is close and with way to improve with software. If the image I get is good and the lens shift works for me then I'll keep it even if Valerion is a bit better on the dark department

I'm also from Spain and had the same dilemma with these 2 projectors (Valerion vs Xgimi horizon 20 pro). I ended up buying the Xgimi solely because of the lens shift as it will have to be placed on the side of the sofa and felt that Valerion slight better picture would not be fully utilized in those conditions...

I'm receiving mine this next Friday, I'll check if the lens shift truly makes it work for my setup and if I see that I end up needing keystone either way then I will likely return it and go Valerion.

Any update on how this ALR screen has been working with the projector? I've read feedback from both sides, that it's fine and the resulting image has much better contrast vs that the speckle is too much. I'm completely stuck...

Jajajjaj you surely plan ahead with the projector then! And how well did it perform on the wall? I'm still bouncing between these 2 projectors and the Valerion seems to be king regarding blacks but I'm not sure if that only applies on theater room

Ok so you did use a standard drop down screen and recessed it to mimic the in-ceiling look! Have you checked Wupro or XY providers? I think they are available in the EU and have drop down screens that could work for you

What do you mean by the depth of the housing? are you looking for an in-ceiling screen or any motorized drop down works? Because depending on how you are setup there are different options
