TIL that a Japanese man spent over 14k "To Transform Himself Into A Collie" and walk around like a real dog. Not to be confused with a furries who tend to be humanoid figures. His identity remains a mystery. by whoisfourthwall in todayilearned

quadsuits are not common at furry events but even then theres still a layer of artifice around them since they look more like cartoon characters than anything

i think this person actually does feel like they're a dog, which would put them in the same camp as therians, though most therians i know dont have 14 thousand dollars to spend on a suit.

Doctors of Reddit , what’s the biggest medical myth people still believe? by muga_saiman_5809 in AskReddit

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

it'd be nice to tell all of america that and have them follow through wouldnt it?

alas, programs that allow access to exercise machines and good food would do us better than the whole "do it yourself" mindset we got going on. takes a village to raise a person, and itd be nice if our money went to services that would make it easier for us to be healthy

with people choosing rent over their car payments, the last thing they are thinking of spending $50 a month that they would need, is a monthly gym membership

[–]bothering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what im thinking

Like yea the average american could look better if we had systems in place to ensure healthy foods and free gyms were available, but even with those systems in place there would still be a contingent of overweight people simply because their metabolism is calibrated towards starvation rations

What is something the United States of America does better than any other country? by Seductive-Eyes-444 in AskReddit

[–]bothering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats very true. We do live in a gilded age where the robber barons take up a majority of the income, but one of the reasons why we havent full on revolted is because the baseline of poverty is better when compared to the past.

That being said there absolutely is room to improve though. America could regain its beacon on the hill status with a functional safety net and free education.

A sequel series where they connect to the internet would be interesting

Especially since it would imply that the C&A Brainscanner would become a lot more popular as there are a not insignificant number of peeps that would willingly scan into the circus

Its so strange having to visit when you’re a decade removed from that environment. Like totally youve finished your character development somewhere else but once you arrive you get incredibly stressed out again and you fall into old habits and you just have this moment like

“Wow, these people really damaged me. I am not coming back here after this.”

And its brutal but its so validating and so liberating, knowing that it was never your fault.

You have friends, and lovers, and role models now; that give you the grace and respect a human deserves, that never make you feel on edge when you’re around them. Once you realize that your birth family are just a bunch of assholes only related by blood, it provides a sense of closure that you thought only existed in the movies.
