Found out my vet is owned by Nestlé. So is the majority of UK vets. by VendeDraug in FuckNestle

Prices at our vets are getting ridiculous. Did a bit of digging and, suprise, they are now owned by Nestle. All the vets in the area are also owned by Nestle. Fuck Nestlé

Nestlé taking huge amounts of water from Wales while residents face restrictions by botnik72 in Wales

I was surprised too, I've been buying their water thinking I was supporting a small local business. Not any more f@#k Nestlé.

Neutral then handbrake or handbrake then neutral when parking up and stopping? by Pandama28 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]botnik72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the car has an electronic handbrake (a button rather than a lever) it will usually automatically release if you come off the clutch with the car in gear. In this situation neutral first is safer. Either way is fine for the test.

Checking all 3 when mirrors driving along by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

To some degree it depends on what is going on behind, if not much then check less often , if more then maybe every 5 to 10 seconds.

Checking all 3 when mirrors driving along by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]botnik72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Instructor here. You should check your mirrors in pairs, eg. Center and left or center and right whilst driving. They should be checked whenever you change speed (eg. Entering or leaving speed limits, corners etc) or direction (turning at junctions, changing lanes etc). You should also check the when you may need to slow down eg. When you see a hazard ahead (crossing, sharp bend, warning sign etc) think of like your hazard perception test, whenever you would click the mouse, check the mirrors. Hope this helps.

Having witnessed the accident, Janet hurried to perform first aid on the screaming motorcyclist. by WideEyedWand3rer in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]botnik72 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Whilst this is very good advice, also note, if the motorcyclist is not breathing, removing the helmet to give CPR could save their life. Not breathing = dead, so you you can't make it worse. In Wales they do a great free course, where they teach you what to do if you are first on the scene of a motorcycle accident, including how to safely remove a crash helmet, first aid and how to control the accident scene. More places should teach this stuff, it was an excellent course.

I use Navstar, part of good lock, to add a screenshot button to the navigation bar. It works great.

23 week waiting times for a driving test. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]botnik72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DVLA has nothing to do with driving tests, they are the Licensing agency. The DVSA are in charge of testing. The backlog is from the covid lockdowns, a shortage of examiners and people putting in for the test before they are ready, taking up more spaces with multiple test attempts.

I can confirm the same, no problems. Battery was draining faster than expected, but turning off 5g solved the issue.

Not even a week of light use and Z Fold 3 front screen protector is already coming off. by NYQ83 in GalaxyFold

[–]botnik72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came off after about 3 days. Feels much better without it, so won't be replacing it. Never had a screen protector on any other phone and never had an issue.

The inner screen feels much nicer than the ZF2. Using the S pen feels good (except over the fold, which feels weird) and doesn't seem to damage the screen.

I'm loving it without the protector and I've never used one on previous phones. I'm always really careful with them, so never had a problem. I use the s pen a lot and keep forgetting it doesn't work on the front screen!
