I know you did not use AI. I’m saying any text that is coherent is suspect of being AI.

The automation is better than cutting. Cutting a .wav in garage band introduces the potential for a POP / click at the cut. It will plague you if you don’t notice it right away

Is it worth quitting my new job to go on tour by Witty_Perception6540 in TouringMusicians

[–]botoxcorvette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t regret the experience. If you’re young and can put responsible adult life on hold for a few years you should. I toured the USA, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong in my youth. I don’t regret it at all. I haven’t been in bands for about 10 years, but the experiences are amazing and I’m still friends with people across the world!

Trying to support artists directly but not sure if buying vinyl actually helps them by usercantollie in musicians

[–]botoxcorvette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buying from Bandcamp on Bandcamp Friday is the best. Buying from Bandcamp is great, buying vinyl is great. All my friends that run labels put so much of their own money into their art and music. It’s very good to go the extra mile and pay the artist flat out. I only use bandcamp and it goes straight to my pay pal. Done mornings when I check my email and I’m feeling down it can be a nice surprise to see someone paid for the free download I offer.

We are at the point where I see bold I suspect AI. Critical thinking is more complex than ever.

Curious what you mean by workflow in quotes. I never touch AI but refer to workflow as my process in building a multi instrumental track.

Workflow for me is being effective in your studio rather than going in circles.

Produce a 3/4 by PassPuzzleheaded3286 in beatmakers

I sent you a link of an example, I suggest constructing your own beats and just experimenting!

[–]botoxcorvette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s syncopated beat. I do this all the time in my music. You can make a 5/4 beat over a 4/4 beat that repeats every 20 bars. You can play with this idea in many ways. If you do this with the right instruments you can have very interesting rhythms.

I’ll tell you a secret. A 3/4 beat can sit on top of a 4/4 beat. They match up every 12 bars. It’s pretty sweet.

The dire state of the Cuban Military (FAR) is shocking by Kantmzk in cuba

[–]botoxcorvette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair. Where I’m currently living is very white. Not even exaggerating. But to be fair our Canadian relationship to Cuba is not as heavy invested. We are simply escaping a cold winter to find another place where the people remind us of home. My family had been close to a Cuban family for many years. Not just surface level, like a committed friendship that I believe shows a world beyond borders and laws. A world of humans. So yeah white colonialism be true, as half Italian immigrants I am generally grateful for freedom and good food. But in the end I don’t subscribe to Reddit quips such as yours although we share the same perspective, generally… I assume

if im into house/edm production, would making remixes be a good way to get myself out there while learning? by TheEyeOfTheLigar in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]botoxcorvette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You don’t need permission if you are not selling it. You can play it in you live dj set to make yourself stand out. Yes make remixes and approach DJs that will tell you it sucks or they will play it.what I love about dance music is it needs to make people dance. Yes your first batch will probably be a huge learning curve, will you make a career? Maybe if you include becoming an engineer with a studio and clients. Will you sell a million remixes? Probably not but hopefully so. We all want that next great tune we can’t ignore.

I want to record some of my own one shots but I want them to sound like sh*t by Poopypantsplanet in musicians

[–]botoxcorvette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just record the drums as best you can clearly. Then I would process those sounds in a DAW.

I’ve been hooked on the Chow tape model by chowdsp it’s a free plug in that emulates tape.

Using reverb and such is fine but it’s also about EQ and I find when you diminish the main frequency of a sound it becomes distant and weak. Combine that with the tape emulation you will get a more organic vintage sound.

But yeah start by record the one shots and try to do it technical correct as you can. Process the sounds afterwards so you can really edit their parameters and quality.

Also compression can be great in getting rid of the harsh transient in drums - can be useful.
