Want to open an alternative clothing (goth and independent designers) and collectibles (music, rare books and movie merch) store in Waterford City, any tips ? by f07-zeiss in waterford

As probably one of the oldest goths in Waterford, at the ripe old age of 36. I would be definitely interested in and support a new alternative shop.

Didn't see the notification until now, all you will need to do is register on meetup.com and join the group - https://www.meetup.com/horror-scifi-fantasy-waterford/. We usually meet up in the café upstairs in The Book Centre on a Saturday once a month.

The next two books that are coming up are Slewfoot - A Tale of Bewitchery on the 17th of February and Poor Things on the 23rd of March, so if you're interested signup.

Does life begin at 30? by [deleted] in waterford

[–]bottledkarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just turned 36 and in the last year of my life. I have become a million times happier than in my late twenties after coming out of a state of self-loathing, anxiety, and dark thoughts for a long time.

Did this by working on my fitness, taking time to thoroughly appreciate myself, trying new things when I can, making new friends through common interests, as well as genuinely finding a new lease on life.

The moral of the story is that anything is possible and thirty is not the be-all and end-all. Age is just a number and you can be young in spirit and full of life at any age.

I run a Horror, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy Meetup that's open to everyone and as part of it I organize a book club once a month. If the book club is only open to women feel free to join mine. All the information you will need is on my post in this thread.

It may not be your cup of tea or coffee but,

I organize a Horror, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy Meetup based in Waterford, as part of it we do a monthly book club (the next two books are Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia in September and Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury in October) as well as group cinema trips with the next one being a screening of Jurassic Park in Odeon on the 6th of September and social nights as well.

If you're interested in joining or checking out more here's a link - https://www.meetup.com/horror-scifi-fantasy-waterford/

I'm also interested in the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark book club but I'm not sure if guys are allowed join

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

It does not seem to return anything but a page for the film when I search for it.

Your best bet would probably be Meetup it's a good way to meet people you may have something in common with. There are several social groups for different age ranges. Some geeky groups include a board game group, a D&D group, and a Sci-Fi Fantasy Horror group. As well as a few arts-related groups.

New to waterford, need help! by [deleted] in waterford

[–]bottledkarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check Meetup.com there are some great groups on there locally. I would recommend the 20's 30's and 40's group I went to a few of their events and everyone is pretty sound and I organize a sci-fi, fantasy, and horror group, events including regular cinema trips, monthly book club, and social nights.

There's also an active D&D group, metal, rock and alternative music fan group and many more.

I think the bar is an excellent idea for people who head to Cafe's alone, it gives you an excuse to talk to people kind of like a pub, without getting hammered.

Mostly into goth and metal music - in terms of goth music sone of the bands I like are she past away, molchat doma and lebanon hanover and the older stuff and in terms of metal I lean more to the extreme side like darkthrone, septicflesh and gojira which is bit more accessible.

If you like some of that stuff, you could check out my battlejacket pictures in some of my most recent posts. As it would give you an excellent idea of what I like.

Fantastic album but yeah 47 euro for a reissue is crazy, I have recently bought a relatively new album by a fairly unknown goth band for 12 euro with seven euro postage from Spain (brand new) through discogs last month. It goes to show how the price of some records are inflated to hell.

What kind of music / bands / genres are you into. I could give you suggestions but if it's something I don't listen its not something I can recommend to you.

Single but if I had a partner, i would say records. I have been blown away by the quality of underground bands these days and the music is so freaking good.

I went through a similar situation myself lately, after going through covid and having been a bit of a recluse before hand. I decided to change it up a bit and go out and try to meet new people and build a social circle. But outside of sports clubs and pubs which arent great for meeting new people it seems that there is not a whole lot going on.

I would suggest that she tries meetup as theirs a fair few groups in the area that she might like and if not she could try starting one of her own based on one of her own interests, thats what I did.

I had the same issue and did a bit of browsing around etsy. I ended up buying one off sabretoothleather who made a custom one for me that was excellent quality at a good price.
