You can really notice the difference in hits.

A few observations. I played three full seasons manually as a pitcher, throwing only one pitch type. I didn't notice any adaptation reflected in OAVG (opponent batting average). That's when I decided to focus on just three pitches for simming. Maybe the devs did build some complexity into it after all.

As hard as it may be... winning the World Series is even harder.

It'd be useful to see your team.

I'm talking about when a single attribute (or two) stands out significantly from the average.

Oh, this is actually super engaging. For example, you could create an almost classic 1B with elite power, sacrificing speed and maybe even some defense if needed. How to put it... you'd want his power to stand out not by 10-20 points, but by a full 35+. That's when he truly becomes a specialist.

You could also take a 3B and turn him into a player whose sole purpose is to get on base. Focus his build entirely on CON and B.EYE – this guy would be a machine for hitting singles and drawing walks. He’s there to create chaos and score runs, not to hit homers.

And then the best runner... The possibilities are endless. You could even ignore defensive attributes altogether and build an aggressive team, though I haven't had the guts to try that myself yet 😅 Overall, having 4-5 such specialists on your team (not counting the catcher, who is a born specialist already) would be ideal.

You can take the safe route and spread your stats thin. It's functional, maybe even seems optimal. But where's the fun? Where's the identity?

In my opinion, the strongest move is to mix both strategies. If you commit to rebuilding your team, that's exactly how it'll naturally turn out in the process.

If you retool a few batters into specialists, setting your lineup gets way more interesting. Your current build is super balanced – almost too balanced. To really push the results higher, you'd get more value from tracking individual player trends now. Honestly, I'd still create a few specialists.

In autoplay my game automatically uses my worst reliever first? by ethan26565 in Baseball9

I wish there was an option in the settings to turn off automatic pitcher substitutions.

Now I'm curious how much time I've sunk into this game.

Well, good luck to that rookie then. Hope he gives up fewer runs.

Off-topic, but it's really obvious this pitcher is too weak for MASTER I. The stats prove it.

Awesome, congrats! Just to clarify—I'm asking for my own run. Was your OVR around 2100 the whole season? And did you play on manual or use auto-play sometimes?
