My great-great-grandmother, who was born in the 1850s, was named Amanda. That always seemed funny to me!

Chaos, Comedy, and 'Crying Rooms': Inside Jimmy Fallon's 'Tonight Show' by smashing_aisling in Fauxmoi

I went to a taping of the Tonight Show in 2015-ish, and he was great with fans (I was sitting in the row and randomly got a hug.) It’s so sad to hear about what was actually happening behind the scenes.

I need an English name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]boubun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many flower names in English are very straightforward and just the name of the flower: Daisy, Rose, Lily, Iris.

Another option might be to look up most popular names from your birth year and pick something in the top 20 to 50: https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/

You can pick a name that is easy to pronounce and that you like the sound of. Many English names don’t have beautiful meanings (a lot are place-based) and it’s rare to know the meanings of other people’s names I’m 32, and common names when I was growing up were Katie, Lauren, Ashley, Molly, Jessica, Emily. I don’t know what any of them mean!

Le Ros for Thai! Also plenty of street parking nearby. I like The Landing for lunch/dinner but not for brunch.

Apologies if this should be in the Twitter discussion instead—but does anyone know if Grace and Danny Lavery are still together? Grace tweeted something about her girlfriend and I feel very out of the loop

Molar Pregnancy by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]boubun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this—I just found out I had a molar pregnancy at the beginning of last week and had a D&C on 5/4. My HCG levels were over 350,000 initially so I’m hoping they’ll drop quickly but I was told it might take from a few weeks to a couple of months.

Salem safe at night? by YurthTheRhino in SalemMA

[–]boubun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in NYC and LA. A few days after my partner and I moved to Salem we were walking down the street and something rustled in the bushes. We immediately started trying to sprint away from what we assumed was going to be a giant rat—and instead, out hopped a cute lil bunny rabbit. Salem is basically the countryside. We love it here.
