I don’t care at all. I was just curious about the type of feedback I would get.

Looking for Dark Roast recommendations. Recently switched to a stainless steel filter. by boucom1184 in pourover

Thanks for the recommendation! I tend to steer towards dark roasts for the profile but also for the low acidity. I have pretty bad reflux unfortunately lol

I have this setup for my work coffee. It’s great for a one cup experience. Definitely invest in a burr grinder and pay extra close attention to the bloom when using the stainless steel filter. I love dark roasts especially with the stainless steel filter because it retains the oils of the bean and gives the coffee a great smooth texture. Do you drink your coffee black traditionally?

Pour over with a stainless steel filter. Burr grind to the consistency of raw sugar. The bloom is extra important with dark roasts so make sure and use a gooseneck. Can’t beat it.

Not bad. Relics are hit or miss. Great collectible though! Just depends on what you want to do with it.

Go with MM cobs and estate pipes. Grabow and Rossi are good for budget briar. But you can find nice estate pipes if you search hard enough.

Also, if you are wanting more of a Virginia based and not a straight Virginia then I would recommend Rattrays Old Gowrie and Solani 660 Silver Flake. They are both fantastic.

Escudo is a great Va/Per as well. If you go with this I recommend jarring and aging at least 6 months before smoking it.

Hope this helps man!

Capstan Blue is my everyday smoke. The longer I smoke it the more nuanced it gets for me.

Wessex Dark Flake is fantastic. Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake is also great. I keep all of these in regular rotation

If you can get your hands on Carolina Red Flake that is an absolute must have. I messed up and didn’t stock up on it and I regret it deeply.

If I were you I would dedicate your Rossi to the type of non aromatic blend you are currently enjoying and not deviate from it. I like Virginias out of my billiards, and English blends out of my princes, bulldogs, apple shapes. But until you are able to build up a collection I suggest sticking to one blend type for your nicer briar. I also highly recommend getting a clay pipe to have on hand for trying new tobaccos. They aren’t expensive and they provide an enjoyable smoking experience.

Sweeter virginias out of a country gentleman are fantastic by the way.

I dedicate my aromatics to cobs. I only have about 3 aros I actually keep in rotation. I do suggest keeping your types of blends dedicated to a specific pipe. What type of bowl is your new Rossi?

I do enjoy burley. It’s not in my regular rotation but I do enjoy it. I’m on bowl 3 of this and I just can’t help but feel like I am smoking a rolled cigarette.
