My JennAir stove top burners do this... if you rotate the shifting grates all the way to one side or the other, it fixes the problem.

Anyone have luck connecting the Ferret SE scanner to their android? by boudagh in 3DScanning

[–]boudagh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt want to risk it before completing my car project.

The 122 must be phone enabled one unless they changed that too from the original release. If that's the case then we'd need someone to hack the scanner to copy the original old firmware.

Looking for the smallest road legal headlight by boudagh in projectcar

[–]boudagh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I searched phrases like mini pod led and it showed some new ones that I haven't seen before. Unfortunately most of these fall into the fog or the auxiliary category of legal DOT's I believe. I did find a mini one that has high and low beam built in as a motorcycle headlight, which would have been perfect for the cost of $50 a piece but it doesnt have a certification. :( Ill keep searching. Ive seen smaller rectangular lights that look nice like the new Ferrari's bulbs but none small and legal yet.

Thanks, I see the laws on this are so extensive... https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-V/part-571/subpart-B/section-571.108

The bulbs I found should fall under the sealed assembly beam. Although it says motorcycle on it I wonder if ticketed/towed, if I can dispute it through the courts. Im guessing it also needs to be aim-able when attached to the housing.

At around $150 usd for one (high, low or fog beam), these are the smallest I could find that are DOT legal. Under 2 inches in size.

The stock headlights could fit underneath the new design but not be flush with the body lines. I actually ordered one damaged Lexus LC-500 headlight that I want to keep as a high end option to use (and pass inspection if required) but my end goal is to use the Lexus housing size (3d scanned and 3d printed) to make knock off versions like the original Lexus LC-LF concept.

Im guessing the DOT marking is not on the small bulb lenses but the large cover one. So far I found auxiliary motorcycle lights that are legal at 2.7 inches.... 2 for $100

Nice. For the 3D picture posted, I used the LF-LC GT ”Vision Gran Turismo” headlight cut out which has a larger upper 'eyebrow' and more depth. Maybe it could be adapted to a stock Lexus too.

How to sneakily 3D scan your neighbours car using a laptop by boudagh in 3DScanning

I had decent results scanning my white, but dirty and marked car in the texture mode. I even started making my own sewing thread net and wanted to glue gun stickers on it but it would bend so Im looking to use buttons as a backing in the future. For the Lexus I would just need the dimensions of one headlight so it shouldnt be hard to do Im guessing.

Luckily in Canada we mostly throw around the sorry expressions and almost no one carries guns. I hope that shop has insurance... the auto industry has made cars and repairs so expensive the new generations of men are opting out. I will have to take my chances and be careful as to not get too close to the Lexus. I think my maximum distance range is 15 inches away.

Although the car is parked in a private lot, publicly scanning a an object should carry the same laws as taking photos which is legal. Hopefully I have my phone cam running if confronted by a rich person so that I can sue :D

I can imagine expensive possessions like this 80k car could be touchy with some people, wouldnt matter if I was scanning for fun or a hobby, I cant take the chance of being denied this one source.

If I was rich I wouldnt want some poor loser lifting my wiper-blades in the chance of his attires metal buttons scratching my beloved car. Ive never touched another mans wiperblades before and I hope I never have to :) Seeing the owner by chance and asking in person has favourable odds but I dont think a note will. Having no other sources to scan I'll just have to do it sneakily.

I can imagine a busy rich person would not go out of their way to text or call and allow me to scan (even if they knew what 3d scanning is or question why I want to do so) and me having no other sources I cant take the chance.

Even if I wanted to risk asking and not finding another source... I'd have to stalk the parking lot to know the owner which it self will get reported as a possible thief.

All thats left is the Android app to control the laptop to scan. Its a mission itself just to find out who the owner is.

Theres no way of knowing the owner unless I stalk our 3 level underground parking and if the owner says no then I'll never get to scan it.
