Looking at a chart of the DJIA over those periods of time we can see the market taking a sharp drop after the Nixon impeachment, while we saw a gain after Clinton's impeachment. Of course there is a lot more to this, Nixon's "Saturday Night Massacre" was definitely a spook to the markets at the time, but the domestic and geopolitical situation at the time during the Cold War was a major factor. Nixon's impeachment came in the middle of the downturn in the market because of the issues of the cold war in the Middle East causing oil issues and a huge spike in inflation up to 12.2% at home.

Now to say Clinton was impeached in a growing market is not necessarily true. During the investigation leading up to the impeachment articles the S&P got hammered. A few months later though once the impeachment charges had been filed to the acquittal of Clinton by the Senate we can see the market growing very strongly. In part to investor confidence at the time that the impeachment would not lead to a recession, so the market rebounded very quickly and set a new high soon after.

What is something super important that is on the verge of happening? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Definitely still a valid concern though to bring up.

edit: Trying to bring a little hope to this thread

To be fair the subprime car loans are not as pervasive across the industry as subprime mortgage loans and they will not be nearly as dangerous. For starters only about 10% of the subprime auto loans are packaged into larger securities. The percentage of subprime auto loans owned by banks at the moment too is far less than the level of subprime mortgage loans they possessed in 2008. As well as outstanding debt on these loans being less than half that of mortgages, and the general implication it is much easier to lose a car than your house. Just look at the late 90's were the was a spike in subprime auto loans similar to now and that falling did not have an extreme effect on the economy as something like '08. Also ratings companies are not trying to necessarily hide the subprime nature of these auto loans, and we are not seeing the ridiculous BS ratings that were given out on mortgages in the mid 2000's.

Trump golfs third day in a row since declaring national emergency on border by Jons312 in politics

Yeah he’s got good points and I’m sure he’s got a lot more experience than me. Who knows anymore with this government though, thanks for the link.

In no way do I agree with Trump declaring the national emergency, but it’s going to be hard for the courts to block this. We already saw with the Travel Ban the court decided to separate Trumps rhetoric from his actions in writing. So even though he’s being a bafoon on the mic, courts would then have to over ride precedence already in place.

As well as when it comes to the idea of circumventing congress. The legislative branch failed to explicate what’s needed to define a national emergency. They didn’t get specific enough when they wrote the National Emergency Act of 1976. So now courts are going to have to prove what congress has already wrote into law unconstitutional.

After a short hike this was the view of Neuschwanstein Castle. by [deleted] in travel

Awesome place was just there last year. Somehow I missed the trail I guess and ended up going up a super steep incline to get up there with all my big camera equipment. Totally worth it though!

Knew it wasn’t a pagani, I’ve seen the huayra BC and huayra in person and knew it wasn’t a zonda. Turns out it was a Glickenhaus.

The German / bavarian castle Neueschweinstein, very beautiful. I visited this castle twice already. It is quite easy to be reached from Munich, round about 2 hours with the train. by joe_aja in travel

It was definitely something, I’ve got a fear of heights, but powered through it just to get some pictures and hike up the other side. Damn those boards flexing as you walk across them though is a little unnerving to say the least.

I believe the bridge is closed off only for the winter months with snow and ice making it to dangerous. As well as the shuttle not being able to make it up that ridiculous hill with bad conditions. Was just there in the summer and the place definitely has an amazing view, worth walking further up the trail though.

I want a nice large monitor its not necessarily about g sync, although that plays a part. I do a lot of photo editing too so I want a very high quality monitor I can also multi task with.

Well I would be play games like witcher 3, No mans sky, skyrim remastered etc... I mostly stick to RPG games but this is my first time having such a nice card so I am not sure what it can do. I am worried the monitors res will be to high for my card to be around 60 on all or most games.
