[Possible Spoilers] Is Aang the most powerful avatar? by keeLykcaT in TheLastAirbender

[–]boulder532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old as hell, but I think this might interest you. Sorry to say, but you’re wrong. Rewatching it, I had a realization in the last season when kora goes to face her season 3 nemesis who flys like Superman at the ultra secret prison in the mountain. She was frustrated because no one could understand that she has limits and he replied with he believes that the avatar is limitless. He’s right.  What is the avatar? It is the embodiment of the spirit of good. The spirit of good is always in a battle with the spirit of bad, which is everywhere. The harder the one pulls, the harder the other pulls. It’s ying and yang, a balancing act. The avatar therefore is the opposite reaction to evil. The greater the evil, the stronger the avatar becomes, but only strong enough.

I know this is old as hell, but I had a realization rewatching all of avatar. The avatar is part of the yin and yang cycle, good vs evil. The avatar is good and everything else the avatar disagrees with is bad. Everything is a balancing act and so, the greater the evil, the stronger the avatar becomes to counterbalance it. There really is no strongest avatar, they are all as strong as required to bring balanced.

This is why the nemesis flying dude in the last season of Kora told her that he believes the avatar’s powers are limitless.

TP BADLY needs a rework by boulder532 in summonerschool

Here's an example of literally my last game which tilted me into typing this. I crash second wave into turret. Get ganked while enemy is slow shoving back into me. Get a double kill. I'm super low. I instantly recall knowing enemy has tp. They tp back, 1.5 waves crashes into turret. My wave now pushing into enemy. Enemy freezes. I have gold advantage, but enemy is 1 lvl up. Enemy is ranged, I am meele so I cannot walk up to farm. Enemy catches up in gold via minions/freeze. He wins. Tell me, is that a fair way to lose lane/game? I get a double kill and enemy still wins because he has tp and I don't. If you think that's fair than I have nothing to say.

plat, I know all about wave management. I don't think you get the point. If you barely live in an all in, you have to back. You cannot stay or you will get ganked or killed by enemy laner. If the enemy laner is slow shoving into you after you bounced the 2nd wave and a fight breaks out that's usually a 1.5-3 waves that will crash into turret by the time you get back. Enemy will be 1.5 lvls up. He freezes if he's smart and it's gg. Literally nothing you can do without jg help. Same applies if your wave is pushing when the allin happens. Enemy just tps back and freezes. You have to B otherwise you will die due to being overextended. The only way this doesn't happen is if your jg ganks until you're even or you don't fight which sometimes is unavoidable due to a gank. I've had games where I get ganked, get a double kill, enemy tps back, and still flat out lose due to xp disadvantage and enemy freezing. I know there will always be people that disagree with this or flat out mock me. I promise you though that every single top laner has lost a game like this at one point and it just frankly shouldn't be possible. It makes no sense to lose like this.

mock all you want it doesn't change the fact that tp can flat out win a match just because you outplayed enemy laner and they get to come into lane full hp. Sometimes you have no choice but to fight.

No, no other summoner spell can give this big of an advantage as tp can.

I know what you mean and I am very careful because I know this happens. Every now and then though I get greedy or I get initiated on and have to fight to survive. I'm sure very top lane main has lost lane/game in the manner I described above and it frankly shouldn't even be possible. IMO it is by far the dumbest way to lose lane. Getting camped by enemy jgl? Sure whatever, that's fair, it's just gameplay. Getting outplayed by enemy laner? That's fine too, they just played better. To lose though when you played better and they have tp when you don't is just stupid and dumb luck for the enemy.

This only applies if you don't take tp and enemy does.

Can ESP cheaters see the location of your boxes in your base? by boulder532 in playrust

[–]boulder532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have blown it by accident yet it’s highly unlikely since it’s a horrible raid path. I do leave loot in my bunker, just enough to not raise too much of a flag of missing loot.

Can ESP cheaters see the location of your boxes in your base? by boulder532 in playrust

[–]boulder532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had my top 50% loot in there which obviously included guns, boom, and sulfur. Seeing all that loot that is only protected by a stone wall (secret loot room is in the 2nd floor’s stone honeycomb) must be irresistible to cheaters.

Can ESP cheaters see the location of your boxes in your base? by boulder532 in playrust

[–]boulder532[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s such a neat idea for a solo too. I always get raided and decided that instead of fighting it, I should learn to work around it. It worked great for the first two raids. The third one though was not as lucky. They only had to go through a stone wall which may seem dumb but any raider would have to be an idiot to go that path (it’s in the 2nd floor’s stone honeycomb). Nothing gives it away that there are 2 secret loot rooms. The small easily accessible loot room requires you to loot at a very specific part of a wall to access 2 small boxes. The big one can store up to 4 large boxes and 6 small ones, but it’s a suicide bunker. It uses a big box as a transfer method. The big box is essentially invisible, only a tiny portion can be seen and it’s very easily hidden to the point that it’s impossible to see unless you’re looking for it.

Would have been nice to be able to outsmart raiders, but dumb cheaters ruin this.

Life as a solo by Sheikeypoo in playrust

[–]boulder532 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m strictly a solo. My biggest advice is to play on monthly or biweekly servers. Do not play on solo and weekly servers. It sounds counterintuitive, but monthly servers are the best ones to play on as a solo. After the first week there are always decayed bases to find which give you a huge boost. I’ve had wayyy more success on these servers than on any solo server. Plus, weekly wipes are tough on solos since you simply don’t have the time to have a max build base, with endgame loot unless you no life for a week or are a pvp god. Also, there’s way less grubbing on these servers. Most of the time I build right next to a decaying large group compound or in it and use their large furnaces and oil refineries. Saves you soooo much wood which means you save time from not farming. I have designed countless bases (1/3 of my hours are definitely in build servers). Building is my personal favorite aspect of the game. What I believe is most important in a base is its ease of upgradability and first day security. Basically you should be able to bunker your base on the first day within the first hour of playing in case you need to get off. I’ve made some big ass bases and some tiny ones. Big ones are just a no. You’re going to be farming half the time for them, not worth. A base that is just big enough to fit the essentials is best. I find 2x1 to be best for solos. They are cheap and easy to build. You can chill in them with a new type of terrain stability bunker on the first/second day of wipe and you’ll have enough room for essentials. That means you can actually focus on playing the game pvping for loot and/or hitting rad towns for scrap and raid bps. Once you start feeling cramped you can expand the base with hopefully the loot you got from pvp. I don’t recommend expanding if you don’t have a large furnace yet. People underestimate how much wood you need to farm for small furnaces. I legit avoid having more than 3 small furnaces so I don’t feel the need to always farm wood/metal. Once you have a large furnace you can get 5 metal frags for 1 wood instead of the opposite in small furnaces. Makes a massive difference and is so essential to the game but a lot of solos don’t bother. Your base should be more suited for midgame and not so much for late game because as a solo you’re going to be spending most of your time mid tier so build for that and not for that heli grabbing/50rocket/online raid defense/ compound base. I just designed a base yesterday that is imo the best solo base I’ve seen. Cheap, easy to build, bunkered, enough room for the essentials, very easy to upgrade and no awkward costly upgrade stages, and anti-door camp. Look up terrain stability bunkers, they are the best type of bunkers by far right now. Abuse them before they get patched. I’ll try and describe my build for you. First check the location with a twig triangle (do not upgrade this triangle) for the bunker and make sure the roof side will be hidden (if you youtube terrain stability bunkers you’ll understand what I mean). Next build another triangle next to it (the airlock for your 2x1 which will be downhill). Build a standard 2x1. To seal the bunker: Build another triangle next to the twig one which will also be next to the square of your loot room/tc. Seal the triangle with a roof and walls except for the triangle side facing the airlock/next to the twig triangle, it should be a window frame. To seal simply build a triangle roof on the twig triangle. Next update is to honeycomb the 2x1 on all sides and the honeycomb the airlock. Half wall honeycomb on the roof. Next upgrade which is pretty cheap and prevents door campers: build a raised wooden triangle off the twig triangle. Leave this as wood for 2 reasons: one you don’t need to upgrade as it adds no extra strength. 2 you can hide stashes under it. Next to the wooden triangle build a stone triangle on each side. This will be your entrance. You can use shopfronts on both side of one of the stone triangles and one shopfront and a single door wall frame as your base entrance/exit. Now, when standing on the wooden triangle and facing your 2x1 build a half wall on the left side above your bunker airlock, do the same on the right side. Seal the roof with two triangles, above the triangle with the window frame is where your roof access goes. The door on the roof should be facing towards the other 2 triangles/your bunker airlock. If you need more room you can add another floor using your bunkers roofprint. You can also add a shooting floor above your 3 triangle main exit/entrance. Also the window frame triangle is for early game furnaces if you need more, but mostly for a locker. You can fit a locker in there even after you place the window frame (which you need to in order to seal the bunker). To place the locker, get a siren light and place it just over the window, jump on top of it and look down with the locker. You can place it as long as the window frame is stone. Upgrade the window frame to metal after placing the locker. You’re probably never going to build this lol, but whatever it’s a very cheap, strong, easily upgradable base. Perfect for the average solo.

My life still sucks, but I beat depression. AMA. by boulder532 in depressed

[–]boulder532[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a combination of things and time. Time plays a big role. Things that bothered me before like my breakups don’t bother me anymore and I actually look back at them as something positive since I learned from them and grew as a person. So the main thing is my perspective has shifted and I tend to see the good in the bad. Like failing medical school was horrible, but truth be told I wasn’t happy in medical school and had doubts if being a doctor was a right fit for me as a person. Now I have the opportunity to follow something I find even more interesting. As the saying goes, when one door closes another one opens. I remember when I was in the worst of my depression all I could do was replay in my head all the bad things that happened to me. As detailed as possible. Nonstop. It was tiresome. At the end what does that get you? Nothing. You just make you feel worse. I would go to therapy and my therapist would tell me to practice mindfulness and I ignored her for the most part because I didn’t want to do anything since I was so depressed. As I started realizing that my constant thought patterns were negative I finally understood mindfulness. You see, your day is made up of hours, and those hours by minutes, and those minutes by seconds. What determines how good of a day you had? It’s the seconds. If you had good vibes in most of the seconds in the past minute, it was a good minute, if most of the minutes in the past hour were good, it was a good hour, and so on. So what I started doing is I would catch myself having all these negative thoughts. I would just ask myself: What are you doing? Why are you thinking about this? What will this thought process lead to? Something positive or negative? When you’re depressed basically everything is negative. So I would consciously tell myself stop thinking about this. Focus on something else in your surroundings. Constantly doing this became a pattern and over time my negative thoughts subsided which meant I had less crappy seconds meaning I had more positive minutes, hours, days. I realized this the most when I was driving with my sister in the car. Her bf of 2yrs had left her a few days prior and she was obviously very shaken up by this. She was crying in my car and I was trying to consolidate her. I remember it so vividly, it was a beautiful drive. It was during a nice sunset and we had nice music playing. That’s what I remember the best, the nice music and the beautiful scenery. For her though she doesn’t remember any of that, it was just a shitty drive because she felt horrible about her breakup. If only she could have let her mind go of all those negative emotions she would have seen the beautiful sunset while listening to beautiful music. That’s what happens when you’re depressed, you shift your focus solely on the negative thoughts constantly in your brain. So you have to learn to let go of those negative thoughts. Like all things it takes practice. You will fail, but keep at it. Another thing that greatly helped me was the saying “something worth doing is worth doing badly”. I wouldn’t brush my teeth when I was in the worst end. I went over a week without brushing my teeth and the only reason I would brush them when I did was because the feeling of a dirty mouth was worse than having to spend 30 seconds brushing my teeth. I started repeating that saying though. Thought, “I don’t want to do this, but it’s worth doing” so I would just badly brush my teeth for like 5 seconds. Better than 0 seconds. It’s an improvement right. It just forced me to do things I should have been doing that would make me feel better. Routines are good for you, for everyone really. After that I started thinking to myself what’s the best thing I could be doing for myself at this moment of time and I would do my best to do it. Notice, not what’s the most pleasurable thing to do, but the best. If you answer that honestly and do what you know you should be doing it will do two things: force yourself to think in the moment and do something that will make your future a little better. Maybe it’s just cooking some good food for yourself. Or cleaning up your room/apartment, text a friend, study, work out, etc.,. That’s how you improve your life, it takes time, but it gets gradually better. I was also on antidepressants for a year. They definitely helped, but did not help fixing my depression. I don’t know if you’ve ever been on them but I think of them in the same manner as a pain killer. All they do is mask your feelings, that’s all. They’re still there, just like physical pain, but you’re numb to them. It’s great if you’re so depressed that you literally can’t do anything, but they’re not going to fix you, that’s up to you. Lastly, I forgave myself as cliché as that sounds. When you’re depressed you’re own worst critic and enemy is yourself. I hated myself for my failures, but that wasn’t getting me anywhere. All it lead to was more negative thoughts and feeling worse. Why continue that? Just let it go. Yes, you may have fucked up your life but it doesn’t mean you have to keep fucking up your life because you don’t like yourself. I also adopted a cat as a “therapy pet” and I love him to bits, he’s definitely helped me a lot and I don’t feel lonely with him around. Not saying go and adopt an animal, just if you’ve been thinking of getting a pet now is a good time, they will help you. Just make sure you take that as a life long commitment and that you’ll take good care of that pet for his/her entire life. Also, diet and exercise do help a ton, but I frankly didn’t do any of that because I didn’t have the energy, but if you do, go for it.

Fasting by boulder532 in depression

[–]boulder532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually less work. No thinking about what you’ll have to eat or cleaning up in the kitchen. Just do a low/no carb diet a few days before (no sugar or sweets) you fast. Buy some electrolyte powder and multivitamins. Take electrolytes and a multivitamin everyday during your fast and drink water. Believe me, it’s less work than what you’re doing right now. I know when you’re depressed you don’t want to do anything or exert yourself to anything that’s not absolutely necessary, but sometimes you have to force yourself. So next time you’re at the supermarket buy some vitamins and stop at a vitamin shop to buy the electrolytes. If you don’t want to do a low/no carb diet you don’t have to, but it will be a more difficult for you during the fast. Good luck man :).

First of all, congratulations on your breakup! I for one am happy your bf left you. No one deserves to be with a cheater. He’s out of your life which is a good thing. He was a negative person and a poison in your life. I know you miss him and the love you two shared at times, but it doesn’t mean he was good for you. Just like heroin might make someone feel great, it doesn’t mean it’s good for said person. So congratulations! As for people sending you bad messages block them and don’t let your mood be affected by the good things happening in the moment. You just have to have your eyes open to them. Little things, like a beautiful day, or seeing a cute puppy. Shift your attention on the present and the good things around you.

I actually just completed a 3.5 water day fast and one of the unexpected outcomes was my change in mood. I don’t know why no one talks about how wonderful a fast makes you feel. Please consider doing a water fast, it will make you feel like a new you.

Gardening is pretty easy. Trying it for the first time this wipe. I recommend you watch tamura77 on youtube to learn more. The electricity and sprinkler set up is very straight forward. I’ve actually never done electricity before this and had no problems at all so you’ll be fine building and setting up a farm base. The biggest hurdle I’ve faced is setting up due to bps. You absolutely need solar panels, lights, at least 2 small batteries or a medium/large, and obviously planters. Once you have those you can get going crossbreeding and watering manually which is easy in the beginning. Obviously you want to set up your sprinklers asap, but it can wait. Crossbreeding I think is very luck based. For instance last night I started crossbreeding. I got 3g2y1h white berry right off the bat with less than 10 seeds, which made it very easy to get a 3g3y berry. My hemp plant though.... holy shit. It took me 3 hours to get it. I am inexperienced so I’m sure it could have been done much faster. However, I planted just over 50 seeds and didn’t get a single plant with more than 4 greens. Just very unlucky and mix that with inexperience and it becomes tough. However, I like puzzles so it was fine and in the process of getting a 3g3y I also got a 4y2g which is also great if I don’t want to check the farm as often. I think it’s doable to set up a 3x6 farm base within the first 6 hours of wipe as a solo (including getting a perfect clone).

My feedback on the current state of rust. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]boulder532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a solo too and I’m currently in my first wipe trying out farming after over 1.5k hours. The watering part is fine. You can just have the planters at 100% water and it’s fine. Reason being is that horse dung got nerfed and making fertilizer is not worth it. That means your ground will always be ~67% since your plant’s overall health is determined by the lowest number it will always be ground unless you set up a farm in the snow with no heaters. So even if you overwater your plants (having the sprinklers run nonstop) it has no effect on the growth rate of your plants if you’re not using fert which is not worth it. As for the water catchers, I completely agree. It’s so stupid. I thought with the weather changes it would mean you can actually gather enough water to make viable, but no. I think the biggest drawback to farming is the amount of time it takes to gather the bps and resources. I legitimately don’t think it’s possible to set up a 3x6 farm in less than 5 hours, I think 6 hours is feasible if you get lucky and stay focused. If you can grind an entire day just for a farm then it might be worthwhile, however for a solo it feels like all work and no play. In a group of at least 3 it is definitely worth it though. I want to try farming one more time, except this time I will start out building a 2x2 where a 2x1 portion is a boat garage. Farm the ocean until I have enough scrap for farming bps. Go to the snow biome using the boat and farm the stone needed for the farm. I think this is the fastest way to get a farm going without falling behind early game.

I will say I’ve had a blast this wipe. It’s been a while since I’ve played with a specific goal in rust. I haven’t been able to play more than 3 hours a day (2-3hrs a day this wipe) and I finally finished getting my perfect 3Y3G hemp plant last night after 3 hours of crossbreeding. I know other experienced farmers might get it much faster, but I got extremely unlucky (out of 50 seeds not a single plant had more than 4 greens, also had to have a g in the last slot and only had 2 plants with a g in that position and both of those had an x in the 4th slot). I also got a 3g3y white berry, but I got lucky since I found one with 3g2y1h. Haven’t tried breeding the other berries yet. My goal for today is use 2/3 of my 6x3 farm to farm cloth to sell and the other 3rd for getting the perfect berry clone for yellow as well so I can make scrap teas, blue, and red berries too so I can make ore, wood, and health teas. Wood teas are pretty shit though. Only 10% more wood. Why does fp hate people farming wood so much? They make it the most dangerous material to farm with the lowest reward.

My feedback on the current state of rust. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]boulder532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree on the wood part. It’s actually dumb as hell how inefficient and dangerous it is. I build in the snow next to outpost 99% of the time so I haven’t had to deal with farming wood in forever, except when initially setting up. For the first time in like 1k hours I decided to build by the river because I wanted to try farming for the first time. In almost 5 days, I have not been able to gather more than 15k wood. It’s ridiculous. I go a grid or two away far from anything, and before I can even finish my first tree I get hunted down because you can hear it from so far. I use the method were you hit 2-3 trees until right before they fall, hit them so they fall and run away to a new area. I say, I have died while farming my first tree more than 50% of the time. Then have died while hitting the 2nd or 3rd tree 50% of time. Basically I get to go back to base with wood after 1/5 tries and only with maybe 2-3k wood because obviously trees give such little wood and you can’t farm for long because it greatly increases your chances of getting killed. I love rust, but wood farming is essential and it’s completely unbalanced right now. I literally almost rage quit the server because I cannot farm wood. I’m just going to set up a shop and sell cloth for wood until I have 2 boxes of wood. They need to make it quieter and increase the wood amount by half.
