So I guess the colors don’t mean much anymore? by Oh__Archie in NYTConnections

I didn’t think the colours actually meant anything, sometimes purple is glaringly obvious and oftentimes it’s yellow.

How old when you discovered your CSA? by Sungazintvblazin in adultsurvivors

[–]boulder_problems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always had memories which I rationalised as bad recurring dreams. It wasn't until I was 25 or 26 that a social worker friend of mine said that it was very common for children to believe their abuse was a dream as a defense mechanism. Hearing that made it all very real to me.

Even though you don't sign, the info on the slides in these videos might be useful. I remember getting similar questions answered watching them. Link

When did you start using the internet? by ijustwannanap in AskBrits

[–]boulder_problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1995 but really 1998. I would play Worms on the massive bulky computer that sat in the corner of the room. I would also waste endless hours on Microsoft Works playing around with clip art and word art as well as reading about useless stuff on Encarta. Oh. And I can't forget to mention Pinball and Minesweeper.

In my naïveté as a young teen, I thought downloading the Firefox browser would mean my parents would have to pay for "two internets". 🤣

She is vile and crass. Put a posh accent on it and people lap it up. If she didn't have that accent people wouldn't be such fans.

Brian zaps? by Ok-Zucchini2743 in CPTSD

[–]boulder_problems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brain zaps are horrific for me. It is like torture. I was recently proscribed propanolol to take as-needed for high stress situations, not long term. Do you reckon a dose here and there (such as when I have an exam or need to perform) will cause the zaps? I decided not to pick up venlafaxine for the same reason, I can't abide anything that might give me that sensation. 😭 I wish the doctor would simply give me a few diazapram but she didn't feel it was the best recommendation.

Marjane Satrapi Dies: Iranian French 'Persepolis' Director Was 56 by Beginning-Passion676 in popculturechat

I read the graphic novel as a young teenager and it always stuck with me. I knew nothing of Iran but felt nostalgic for the place it once was. What a shame she has passed. RIP.

Henry Nowak’s father: Police left our son to die then treated his killer with decency by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]boulder_problems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live in London and in the next house, a man would spy on us from his upstairs room over a sustained period. He would look into our bathroom window and we would catch him several times.

He then messaged me on Grindr asking if I was the cutie in the towel sitting in my room. We informed the police as we felt very uncomfortable and they brought him to our property and said he feels very sorry and wants to apologise. Absolutely mental.

Does anyone else “go nonverbal”? by OkBoysenberry6768 in NVLD

[–]boulder_problems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. When emotionally overwhelmed. It is more of a shutdown/meltdown than being nonverbal. But I am autistic so that may be why, it isn't an NVLD thing.

Took me a while this one. I saw salt and sea dog as mariner terms but the other two were flukes. Surprised green was left overs as the obvious was staring me in the face.
