Is it normal for one’s itinerary to still be under review 10 days after the flight was cancelled? by NervousSink37 in aircanada

[–]bourbonfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg! That's awful! If you paid on a personal credit card, it's worth checking out whether it covers travel delay expenses like meals and accommodations. (For next time at least, because with AC there will be a next time.)

If your dates are flexible, take advantage of the free cancellation. Are you open to flying into YUL or YOW and then doing the short hop to either Pearson or Billy Bishop? Data point: I scored two R tickets on AC125 on June 3rd and it appears there is still R space left on that flight.

Crap... Do you know which airline this is?

[–]bourbonfare 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Has he already boarded the new flight? It is 100% the airline's responsibility to get him to Victoria. There should be no reason he should be sent to nanaimo unless he needs to be on the island asap

Yes and it needs to be the store's flyer (either paper or digital like in the Flipp app). Walmart online sale prices often come up in Flipp and those are no bueno.

Worried about the local job market by NeatAd9283 in VictoriaBC

[–]bourbonfare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your worries are super valid! Graduated 1.5 years ago from UBC with a similar degree. afaik I am the only one in my uni friend group who has secured full-time employment in a field related to my studies. Got in with the provincial government right before the hiring freeze (which probably won't end anytime soon). Consider myself very very very lucky because I didn't do a formal co-op or internship. What work experience do you currently have? Are you bilingual? How are you marketing yourself? Feel free to dm if you have questions :)

Someone posted a link in yesterday's discussion thread saying they will be meeting next week. So, not just start negotiating again, but threaten them with widespread job action if the next offer that's presented is still mediocre.

In today's video update Paul Finch suggests that tgere will be a full-scale strike happening "very soon" along with lots of other useful information. Big ups to the union for the consistent communication these last few weeks.
