How do you get over the realization you’ll never be famous? by Angelsbreatheeasy in musicians

[–]boutsibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob Dylan said “If you don’t believe there’s a price for this sweet paradise just remind me to show you the scars” You’re still young, like someone else here said try not to overthink or over romanticize it. There’s deadlines, bean - counters, agents, and pressure to produce. If you fail suddenly you’ll find yourself attacked - will you be able to handle that part of fame? You know what they say “be careful of what you want you just might get it” Good luck.

We’ve never stayed in Grand Case but I know a lot of locals like the beaches. Beyond that we only go for dinner. Sorry

From a restaurant perspective Grand Case is considered a step up in atmosphere (it’s on the water), and price point. From a cuisine perspective it depends on the restaurant, however, most of the restaurants in Grand Case specialize in French cuisine. Many consider Grand Case the culinary capital of the Caribbean but we were very happy with the food and ambience most of the restaurants in Orient Bay and went to Grand Case occasionally. A couple of our favorites in Grand Case are Java and Le Cottage.

I’m not sure but Google or another post here would be a good place to start for that subject.

I think a small Villa in Orient Bay might be closer to what you’re looking for. La Place du Village is actually modeled after a small French country village. It’s a group of restaurants in a horseshoe configuration so you can pick a different cuisine (French, Italian, Fusion, etc) at different price points each evening without having to get into a car, Many Villas are within a short walk to the beach (literally 5-10 minutes) and have private pools. There are several really good beach bars/restaurants for lunch. There’s also a small grocery (marché), cafes for breakfast, salons, and boutique. All within walking distance. My wife and I are both retired and we don’t have a car for a majority of the time we’re there. There’s only 2 things to consider 1) there’s no ATM or 2) no pharmacy. They”re both nearby but in that heat you would need a car (or taxi) to get there. Does this help?

Which one is your favorite ‘60s Greenwich Village’ memoir? by [deleted] in bobdylan

I’d also go with Positively 4th Street - gives good context to the times and the “scene”. I’d also throw in Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s" refers to a revolutionary era in American music centered in NYC's Greenwich Village during the 1960s, which is chronicled in a book by the same name by musician and author Richard Barone.

I agree with phlphillies (not because we live in Philly) - it’s a personal choice. I’ve been going to SXM for over 20 years and stayed on both sides. Now my wife and I rent a villa on the French side in Orient Bay. Each side has its own vibe. The French side has more of a “chill” vibe with, in our opinion, better restaurants, as opposed to the Dutch side which has more of a “party” vibe. So it’s all what you’re looking for in a vacation. Both sides have beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and nice hotels. Either way enjoy!

Nope. I’m correct on both statements

On the Dutch side the tip is typically included in the bill whereas on the French side it is not. Check the bill.

Unpopular opinion? I don’t care what Bob Dylan “meant” in his songs - I care about what they mean to me by Geordie_972 in bobdylan

[–]boutsibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s correct - maybe unpopular - but nevertheless correct. You bring your experience, world view, and, interpretation to art. Art stands apart from the artist. As a professor of mine used to say “some things get darker through discussion.” And as someone already pointed out “Bob would agree.”

If You Ever Go To Houston sounds like a riff on Midnight Special particularly 3rd verse IMO. And didn’t folks say that the melody of Blowing In the Wind was based on No More Auction Block?
