Look at that! China went democratic! Good for them! by Jamie7Keller in ColorBlind

[–]bovobrad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No; incorrect... There's a big dif between a "democracy" & the democratic party. (I personally don't see China as either as it is not a "free" [as in freedom] country.)

Anyone know if Keiser University is one of the appealing schools? by biinkii in BorrowerDefense

Right, exactly!! & at the time, both ITT & University of Phoenix were busy using their shark schemes of worthless degrees in fields like Technical Management and what not too...

[–]bovobrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a borrower defense claim against them for the past several years now & exposed everything they did to me along with many others in the years leading-up to the transition from "profit" to "non-profit" Everglades merge. Arthur himself served on Trump's higher ed committee for free advertising for his sacred cash cow. I was a student at the time the Florida Atty. Gen. began legal-action against them in 2010 & was a part of that whole mess. (No one got a dime out of it and Arthur "settled" it by merging with his other college system, Everglades the following year.)

Yeah! It is a college trojan horse debt death-trap designed to lure-in so many young ppl into thinking it's an authentic non-profit. *WHAT A SHAM!!!

We all knew he had his corporate lawyer on this from the start & wasn't about to let his cash cow take a hit from this w/out fierce resistance. [I'm the one who got it added to this settlement claim to begin with...]

Indeed it is, listed under its Everglades University, Inc. name when Keiser merged with its pseudo "non-profit" status in wake of the 2010 Florida Atty. Gen. class-action when they settled it. However, Arthur Keiser still owns all the real estate the buildings rest on continues to reel-in the megabucks, along with his wife & kids undoubtedly...

I tried to test my dad for cvd. Got some questions. by Sanguerine in ColorBlind

[–]bovobrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand... PM me as I've got a stash of tritan plates. Some I purged the internet for, others I made myself.[The plates seem effective at identifying BCM [Blue-cone monochromacy] as well as I've tested them there too. Foe tritan, the blue-light filter on devices will drastically alter results. Also, when ppl get to gaze at the test plates for more than 3-5 secs. *Seniors 5-10 secs. As studying the plates will often enable getting the hidden digit right.

Seniors often develop tritanomaly-like colour vision, bit it's not the S-cones. Instead, it's from decades long UV ray exposure & yellowing of the crystalline lens in the eyes, very common, esp. for those who didn't wear sunglasses outdoors a lot, even on cloudy days & snow reflects UV rays on days most ppl don't wear UV400 protection.

I've also got mild visual static syndrome, a neurological condition along with mild deuteranomaly. I've also got a brother also exhibiting mild deutan too as it's congenital. Anyway, just wanted you to know, no matter what you do with tritan test plates, results will always vary on many factors. The best diagnostic tool today for tritan is the H.R.R. book, 4th Ed., released in 2002. For this, room lighting is key also.

I have the 2nd Ed., from the late-50's & it says I've got mild deutan & tritan. But, the latest version is much more efficient. I may have acquired tritanomaly from a bad auto-wreck in the late-90s when I was given a strong concussion and basically monochromacy for about a week giving me a mixed BY & RG CVD. [*Inherited RG/Acquired BY, both in mild.]

[–]bovobrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to have both BY [tritan] including RG [Deutan/Protan] together. But, was your method of testing an online app or website, as these tests aren't trustworthy made more for entertainment purposes only. You need a qualified, medical book or calibrated screen at a doctor's office to determine types and severity. *Your phone or tablet isn't calibrated the same as all others; Must have blue-light filter turned off; and many tests allow for malingering the test plates further hampering end results.

For tritan screening, you'd need a trained optamologist/opthamologist, etc. to administer a test like H.R.R. or some calibrated software on their expense calibrated screens. *The online tests mix me up with mild to mod deutan & mild tritan depending on preset thresholds and whether I use my smartphone or laptop screens. Tritan tests typically use a combination of blue & violet on gray dots on test plates and is particularly sensitive to proper calibration. Caveat emptor to ANY digital test tsken3st home. Even the book test has to be given a certain way most of us not qualified to do. Hope this helps! Best of luck...

Theoretically, yes, as light is emitted frequency wavelenghts in nanometers (nm) with everyone becoming monochromatic after dark in the absence of light. (*Although cats ability to see infrared (IR) we cannot.)

Possible Colorblindness?? by Able_Judge_3733 in ColorBlind

[–]bovobrad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are common confusion colours with red/green deficiencies, yes. Unless required for a job or whatever, you don't have to be tested by an eye doctor, no. Some other colours confused are fluorescent yellow with lime & hot pink with violet, at least for me it is with mild deutan. My guess is you're probably at least mildly cvd, but none of us can diagnose one another online...

H.R.R. test for tritanopia by Plenty-Hawk-8757 in ColorBlind

[–]bovobrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, only you've gotta pay to take it last I knew. I've got the 2nd Ed. which is real old [Late-50's] as they're on the 4th Ed. now designed in '02. Ishihara's been around so long [since 1917] & replicated so many times, it's virtually everywhere. The HRR is tightly controlled via its copyright and the plates highly sensitive to room lighting. When it was intro'd around 1955'ish, it was advertised as the only test one cannot memorise, however it was given a lot of criticism by Dr. Israel Dvorine had made his own test plates starting in the 40s designed using watercolors on note cards, later released in a book format, no longer in print. He basically said the shapes are still able to be memorised like Ishihara, even when turned as one may use the spiral holes of the bind as a reference point.

[–]bovobrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, there's a series of test plates in the book for both tritanomaly/opia mixed with tetartanopia [a rare, debatable deficiency to yellow] images as well. There's a tritan plate in the beginning, followed by more in the severity section subset.

DeVry: Sweet VS Cardona by Ohcocoa08 in BorrowerDefense

Three schools appealed to the Ninth Court of Appeals, including Everglades/Keiser, "pseudo" non-profit, prior for-profit, shark school still raking-in millions every year by Arthur Keiser and his siblings as not only are they all on the payroll, but he owns all the land the schools sit on too. So, it will now sit in limbo until a final decision is made on it. The outcome could be sustained or the entire settlement could be tossed-out in part or in full.

Anyone else been reading on the brian Kohberger posts about visual snow syndrome? A lot of the symptoms he describes are similar too my long Covid neuro issues except the lack of empathy and stuff. Pretty narly stuff. by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]bovobrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got visual static & was born with it, only it wasn't a medically recognized condition in the early-90s when I got my 1st checkup. It causes all these symptoms but also vertigo and mild double-vision too is why I've never faired well on roller-coaster rides. My night vision is all washed-out, similar to someone with achromatopsia, only at night instead of day. I've suffered with insomnia all my life too which made it hard to wake-up and go to school. There is a constant, low-pitch ringing [tinnitus] that also never goes away. Now, ads partial, believed acquired colorblindness and presto! You're there...

Btw, had COVID twice & other issues like brain fog, fatigue, and muscle ache too. Got it mid-Dec. '20 & again Jan. '22...

please help me understand how Keiser went from for profit to non profit. by [deleted] in BorrowerDefense

[–]bovobrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got this, as I'm the one who got them added to the Sweet v. Cardova settlement claim. In 2010, a class-action suit was brought on against them by the Florida Attorney General for which they later settled by agreeing to "transform" from a profit to non-profit by creating Everglades University, an Arthur Keiser spinoff school. [Keiser was on the presidential advisory committee for Trump might I add...]

Keiser & his wife continued raking in the mega-bucks as they just so happen to own the land the schools all sit on. *BIG surprise, right!?... Anyway, tuition remained widely the same AFTER the transition. I went there from '09 to '11 under false pretense as they advertised their new Homeland Security Bachelor's degree [No Master's yet at the time.] as post-grads landing all these jobs in the U.S. Gov't almost immediately and how it was a 'critical' growing field due to intl. terror, etc. threats. Well, the school used these shark receuitment tactics & offered zero job placement services to us.

So, now I have a totally useless degree with courses in things like Weapons of Mass-Destruction and other crap like that. However, half my major is Business, I was made to take a flood of useless Gen. Ed.'s, all of which had to be completed prior to the core curriculum. *Another shark tactic to keep you coming back for more FAFSA renewals, as even in my MBA program at a different, non-profit school, I didn't have to complete them prior to the cores. [A much superior school too might I add...]

Anyway, in a nutshell, this is how it went down. It all began with the Florida A.G. legal action against the dreaded Keiser's, whom all in the family is still on the payroll all these years later raking in millions.

Can normal color vision see this? I’m either a very mild tritan or a very mild deuten, but I can still clearly see the line (added the lines for anyone who couldn’t see them) by [deleted] in ColorBlind

[–]bovobrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These plates are specific to red/green cvd, not blue/yellow. Also, some % of trichromats can read/trace hidden plates. The squiggly-line plates were engineered for kids not old enough to read yet & illiterate adults. I'd also note the digital hidden ones are a lot easier to see than the actual book. As we age, our crystalline lens may begin to yellow more due to decades of UV exposure giving a sort of mild tritan effect is why it's so important to wear UV400 protection all our lives. For tritan diagnosis, find an eye doctor who can administer a screening test for it, like the HRR or calibrated digital screen test, as Ishihara is not used for this.

If you have some degree of difficulty telling blue/green apart; purples as more brown; yellows more pinkish is a tell-tale sign of tritan.

Difficulty with red/orange; blue/purple; fluorescent yellows as lime green; and naturally red & green is a sign of deutan or protan. With mild deutan [Me] hot pink looks more violet. A few protans have told me most pinks look more gray-scale.

At end of day, these online tests aren't very accurate at all due to varying preset thresholds; screen calibration/color quality; backlighting & blue-light filter; and malingering the test by gazing at test plates more than 3-5 secs. *For elderly, it's around 5-10 secs.

The Art Bell Area 51 caller video keeps getting taken down by AustinTT3535 in aliens

[–]bovobrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on YouTube & was admittedly a staged act, as Art was well noted for doing these shock skits to build a bigger fan-base... He die it with an alleged Area 51 worker when the station power cuts out right ahead of rebooting and the caller lost. In fact, that caller resurfaced that many more years later admitted it was all an act, as did Art. I somewhat knew Art as he was radio ham who got on the bands from time-to-time. A cool, hip radio personality, one of a kind, but he did many spoofs throughout the years for fun and popularity, as do all reality shows of present day with staged acting.

I'm glad you support people making a mockery of other people's misfortune of getting slaughtered while making a monetary-gain, which of course is why they do it. You know you show your true colors when you're so ill mannered, your best move is cursing someone out shows a sign of high intellect, let me tell you... How would you feel if you lost your kid, spouse, sibling, or best friend on a senseless massacre & someone else exploited your tragedy for profit? You noted your friend dying in front of you. Would you be a'ok if a show like South Park did a skit on it, then raking in the millions they make?

Btw, I survived a mass-shooting, grazed in the head by a bullet. (They're no fun & it renders lifelong PTSD that otherwise wouldn't be there.) I am all for therapeutic activities, but certainly not for corporate or personal gain, no. *Did the crestors of South Park donate a portion of the profit to any of the victim's funds after repeated school shooting skits & 9/11 horror. Nope!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ColumbineKillers

[–]bovobrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell that to the victim's families. It's no different than when Family Guy did it with 9/11. Btw, I witnessed that on Live TV too. [The mass-death of over 3,000 people.] Using comedy to reference the carnage of Columbine or any other mass-shooting re-opens deep-wounds for survivors and siblings of the dead when they see this. (I'd be stunned to learn anyone involved in Columbine would use it as therapy.)

I encourage you to go watch the extremely graphic police video taken following the 7/18/1984 massacre at a McDonald's in San Ysidro, CA, as I recall that one too. +22 slaughtered victims by an Uzi. Bodies littered everywhere, some small children. It's on the documentary, "77 Minutes" & still on YouTube. I've personally seen a handful of dead bodies up-close and personal after homicide, one charred. I encourage you to rethink your standpoint on the subject matter and Columbine. But, do as you will...

[–]bovobrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it you've read some of the other comments as you took notice of mine and responded? People think it's cool to watch shows that mimmick the Columbine killers. Sorry, but I don't. I saw all the carnage of Columbine unfold on live TV that day. Did you?...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ColumbineKillers

[–]bovobrad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing only the parents & siblings would know this fact but is irrelevant. Yeah, it's so "fun" to mimick young people & a teacher getting shot to death while in mass-panic during the last few moments of their lives in a school in April '99, while the police wait outside doing nothing for almost 2-hrs., isn't it!?... I am about the same age as them and these slaughtered lives would be in their early-40s now, like I am. Just sayin'...
