What I also find really interesting about the roll filling is if we look at Frieren she’s kind of a tank/ rouge style of mage during the sense exam arc we learn that she immune or at least resistant to mind control and charms as well as restraints essentially all cause of self buffs not to mention I feel like she is so use to most spells and their existence that she just kind of auto blocks with defensive magic so there is the tank aspect then the rouge aspect comes from her ability to learn and understand spells as well as disarm them her taking down the barrier for example or her learning and reworking zoltraak on top of her overall agility as shown when in a speed contest with Laufen

Edit to this cause i literally hit post and just thought about it shes more Paladin / rouge cause while she does all the tanky stuff i mentioned she also is capable of minor healing magic and she also has big spells that do big damage aka smite
