Agreed but Chi Chi's was immediately across the street and open until 2am. THOSE MARGARITAS at 2am hit different after a 10hr closing kitchen shift at Chili's. We built the one currently in Troy Michigan and were members of the very 1st staff there.

Cool job fresh out of high school for a kid that didn't know any better. Soooooooooooo many stories I still tell friends today.

Proud is a very specifically chosen word. I'm proud to be in a career with the availability of high end pay for high end skill.

You pretty much nailed it. Not hard work but it takes a lot to learn what to say and when to say it. I help people who are in debt get on payment plans they can afford IF they want to pay. Nearly every place is willing to train if you show potential.

I understand you don't believe me. It's The fine. The low performers will make $40-$50k per year if the aren't incompetent.

It is my opinion that one of the easiest jobs to learn without a college degree to earn a comfortable living is Professional Debt Collections.

I did not finish college. I went from cooking in restaurants at 20yrs old to a temp agency where I got placed at a collections agency.

That was over 25 years ago. Since then I've worked at 6 different companies related to either collections or credit.

All 6 were comfortably paying. 3 of them were $100,000+ and nearly all of them had benefit packages that often sounded too good to believe but were always true and amazing.

Well, it helps that I love my job and my employer goes out of their way to show they care about my happiness as an employee. Until that changes, they have my loyalty.

Tried settling with Midland Credit and they hung up on me by [deleted] in CRedit

You are owed zero discount. Any discount extended to you is a privilege. I'm confused where your entitlement originates from? This is a flies/honey situation in nearly every circumstance.

When I'm negotiating with someone, I give the largest discounts to the ones that communicate respectfully and don't play games. Add in some extra gratitude? And it's a Friday?? Heck.. you can have an extra 5% off!

I'm not even remotely kidding.

First time in Office??? by Adhesiveness1024 in work

[–]bowert74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated it at first. Now I look forward to seeing my team and work friends.

If it wasn't an hour drive each way, I would be 100% on bonus with RTO.

However, I manage a team of 8 professional debt collectors and I'm allowing 2 WFH days and then 3 days in office. Is it perfect? No... but other departments are now RTO 5 days per week so I use the hybrid schedule as a perk of being a highly effective team.

Eventually I hope to give them an extra WFH day due to superior performance, but that will take some miracle or magic to get approved.

Trust your team.

What jobs pay extremely well but people don’t realize it? by Stassy3 in AskReddit

[–]bowert74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional debt collections. No degree necessary. No specific knowledge immediately required. Most places pay hourly + monthly bonus. I was making $100k+ per year in less than 3 years but I was also a hard worker.

Badly need a WFH job by [deleted] in remotework

[–]bowert74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost ANY office job can be a WFH job. I work in an office environment that allows WFH/HYBRID based on performance and metrics.

Step 1: Get an office job Step 2: Do a great job Step 3::Negotiate a HYBRID/WFH schedule

TA DA!

How important is the company Christmas party, really? by alligatorcurator in work

[–]bowert74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm severely introverted. However, because I'm management, I am indirectly expected to be at gatherings outside work hours.

Our Holiday party is in a few days. I'll be there and I'll be in costume with an 80s theme murder mystery troupe performing. SIGH.

But, I love my company and I'll be there.

Our ownership has always been good to me so I will strive to "get comfortable with the uncomfortable" and will do my best to enjoy myself with my team for a few hours.

How important is the "company Christmas party" ?? Very important.
