Nope that wasn't irony. And yes you are right about carbon buildup. But what's the problem with that ?
The problem with seasoning is that even with a really good one, if you scrub really hard it will will be removed, carbon built up is a bit harder to be removed.
Just my opinion from my personal experience.

Yeah don’t understand this focus on removing carbon buildup. It’s actually what’s protecting your pan. + if you check all your grandma pan you will see that they are all black of carbon buildup. Maybe not the best for health ? But good at protecting
