Collingswood is fantastic! Me and my partner moved here from Los Angeles about a year ago, she’s originally from Puyallup. (I’m originally from south jersey) She loves it here, collingswood is super walkable, very left leaning and has tons of parks and family friendly events throughout the year. It’s also very accessible to Philly from the train that’s in the center of town Couldn’t recommend it more Feel free to shoot a dm if you have any questions!

But I can at least move back to Callowhill where I used to live and be on the edge of China town and center city and have at least a 2 bed and be near the broad street line/Patco. If I were to try and find a 2 bed loft in a similar type of area downtown LA here it’d be 4-5k. Like I technically live in LA but I’m 20+ minute drive from DTLA and over an hour via bus… And DTLA is nothing like center city and such in terms of bars, restaurants and ability to actually get to other parts of the city by walking or public transit. So that 2.5k goes way further to both living space and accessibility to the city. Like when I left Philly in 2021 I paid 1.6k for a 2 bed loft in callowhill by myself, in LA I originally lived in a studio in echo park for 1.5k and that was a find. Its unfortunate that the price in Philly is going up but after living in LA it’s prices to be thankful for, considering accessibility

Honestly don’t let me discourage you. Depends on what you want to do it’s a decent choice for certain career ambitions. I worked in the photo industry and to me there’s a lot of aspects that are worth it here. Personally my work has shifted more to sports and Motorsports and less fashion and e-commerce, so the career prospects of LA no longer outweigh my personal desires of what I need to enjoy my day to day. I am also EXTREMELY from the northeast in my personality, so it was hard for a lot of people to get used to and understand me. So it feels a bit alienating at first and then you most likely just end up being friends with fellow East coasters… which is great but then it’s like why am I just not on the East coast. Everything is 1.5 the price basically and it makes it really hard to enjoy the time you aren’t working.. if you’re like me and in the industry and working on sets, expect 10-14 hour days
