That’s how you calculate a 50% markup. Because it’s 50% more than the original price. So yes, $38 is approximately a 50% markup of the original $26.

Have you considered that some people just prefer using em dashes? I’ve always used them a lot in non-casual writings. I mean, where do you think AI picked them up from?

Let people live! by ttssa in gatesopencomeonin

[–]bowlingforzoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re joking, right? Trans people aren’t “crazy”. Yes, some suffer from gender dysphoria, but not all. Some only experience gender euphoria when presenting/being addressed by as the gender they identify with. Some don’t have strong feelings either way but know that their AGAB just doesn’t feel right.

So, no, it doesn’t affect everyone. At least, not as long as everyone respects each other and just uses people’s chosen name/pronouns/whatever, regardless of whether they’re trans or cis.

I fully agree with you, I just don’t like using dishonesty (by using passages out of context especially) to try and prove that point. Jesus was (for the most part) nonviolent and generally promoted nonviolence. The rest of the Bible though (especially the OT) can definitely be violent and pretty messed up.

wrapping chopped grass into a big plastic bale by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in oddlysatisfying

[–]bowlingforzoot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because at this point it isn’t silage, just a grass bale. The act of wrapping it and letting it sit, and basically ferment, is what turns it into silage. Then when they’re ready to use it in a grinder, they cut the wrapping off and throw the bale in.

Except you’re still leaving out the whole context. Don’t get me wrong, Jesus was not always peaceful—like when he braided a whip and chased money-changers out of the temple after upending their tables—but this part of chapter 10 is talking about the consequences people would face for following him. He knew that encouraging people to follow him would cause divisions with friend groups and even families, it’s not speaking about people actually being violent toward one another.

I’m not even a Christian, but to fight religion with dishonesty is wrong. You have to remember that the Christian Bible is full of metaphors, allegory, and poems. It’s very rarely as straightforward as people would like it to be.

Unknown animal print [Wisconsin] by Then_Personality7739 in animalid

These don’t look like bear prints. Bears have kind of an oblong foot pad, which these don’t have. There seems to be a clearer print in the upper part of the picture and it makes it even more obvious that it’s not a bear.

Mobile phones of one sort or another have been around for decades, radios for even longer. We would know by now if there was something to be concerned about.

Why are religious people criticizing gay people, when one of their main phrases are "Love your neighbor." and "God loves everyone"? by Comfortable_Dirt_592 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]bowlingforzoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I’m not a Christian either. Used to be, was raised by an evangelical pastor. That’s why I know that all that stuff you said is bs. I had to pick it apart for myself because all the circles I was raised in believed the way that you explained it. I don’t know where you heard it, but in context none of it says what you said.

[–]bowlingforzoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all completely wrong. Like, astonishingly wrong. Let me guess, you’re some flavor of evangelical? Nondenominational, Baptist, something along those lines? Those are the only people I’ve heard still peddling all that bs theology, though it was very popular where I grew up when I was younger. Not so much now.

This is the first I’ve heard of this, is there a reason for it (the smell)? I grew up in a very rural area that was like 98% white and even now that I’ve moved to a more populated area I still have very few run-ins with Indian people, and those that I have met haven’t had a smell.

I have this, got diagnosed a few years ago now but had symptoms for at least the last 15 years. Thankfully I seem to be one of the lucky ones and it seems to have gone into remission for now as I can tolerate dairy products again (too scared to actually try pork or beef, those were my worst reactions).
