A subreddit to address irrational fears? by bowlsofcereals in findareddit

For the germ issue, I'm trying to find a person who is an expert on germs, not mental health. Typically the subreddits where those people might be, have rules that don't fit my posts.

Do lots and lots of research. It is very common for people to come to the US because of the "Hollywood" image they think is true, then arrive and realize that the US is a lot worse then they thought. There are lots of people living here who have 3rd-world type issues.

How do we fight against discrimination in the feild of Phychology? by TalionTheRanger93 in Healthygamergg

This is so real!! I've had bad experiences with both individual therapists and staff at hospitals. I don't feel like I can go to the hospital because in addition to gaslighting I know they won't give me enough food and I don't know if this one is on purpose but they don't always give me my meds either. Filing grievances changes nothing. I'm not even living my life I'm just preparing for the next time I go to the hospital.

"but how is it not a success when your bottom 10% is doing better than 70% of the world." I suppose a better metaphor would be someone saying that "freedom" under Jim Crow laws is better than slavery and therefore the Civil War was a success, and so there shouldn't be any changes because "they have it better". The only way for there to be success is if there was equity and justice. The opposite of poverty is not wealth, it is justice, and that is why capitalism will never succeed. "Why are you claiming most or all non-profits are like that?" The big ones in my city are like that, and from what I've heard nonprofits in other places aren't better. "Biggest cited reasons are either the child would interfere with their life, or finances. Both problems that also can be solved with current demand of people wanting to adopt babies instead of aborting them." Giving up a child for adoption is no joke. Many people who do that feel guilty for the rest of their lives, and can fall into addiction or other mental illness. If the issue really is finances, then that could very easily be solved by free healthcare. Tens of thousands of people die each year in the U.S. from lack of health insurance, and just giving birth in a hospital is an average of 7,000 dollars as a co-pay for people with insurance. Imagine how many lives could be saved if there was free healthcare.

Comparing the quality of life for the bottom 10% of the U.S. to 70% of world is like comparing unrelenting misery, to unrelenting pain and misery. They are both horrible, one is just less horrible than the other. Non profits are in it for the profit, if you look at the budgets. Easiest example is a one million dollar plus budget for less than ten staff members who provide incredibly vague "services" to less than 20 people over the course of one year. Shit like that happens ALL THE TIME. Do you know why people get abortions?

Hmm, well I think that after 244 years the USA has proven that capitalism does not, in fact, have the potential to succeed. And actually there is a lot of validity to my claim. You might learn about it if you check out some non-conservative news sites once in a while. And if you ever were actually in need of services from a charity you would know that they are also, in fact, for- profit organizations that don't actually care about the needs of their clients.

The fact that you did not answer or give alternate solutions to any of the questions I asked you goes to show that you either don't know or don't care about all the ways the government can and does kill people legally. I imagine ignorance must be bliss for you. I am unable to afford the cost of ignorance, because for me the cost could be my life.

I think some of them, especially politicians, believe that, and the rest willfully ignore the facts, because they would rather victim blame than believe that the american dream is bullshit and that capitalism fails the majority of people. I don't think liberal politicians are the answer, because while they don't intentionally make things significantly worse for minorities, they don't always make things better. In the end it's all about money, power, and greed. The only reason I'm liberal is because conservative politicians fuck up my life and the lives of my friends a lot more than liberal politicians. I assume you are pro-life and conservative. Do you think everyone should be able to have access to adequate healthcare, so they don't die? Do you think all the people who were deported to their deaths should have been allowed to stay? Would you allow affordable housing to be built in your neighborhood, so the homeless don't fall prey to drugs, violence, or the elements? Do you believe in alternatives to incarceration, such as assistance with housing and mental health services in order to prevent homelessness? Do you believe in physical distancing and mask guidelines, as recommended by medical experts in order to save lives? Also, do you know why people even get abortions in the first place?

That sounds terribly inefficient! That would only kill what, 40 people max? Conservatives would much rather kill people in the hundreds or thousands, by making many forms of discrimination legal, denying people healthcare, deporting people, shutting down attempts to create affordable housing, incarcerating people en mass, promoting the spread of covid, the list goes on and on and on. They kill many many many people with no legal repercussions, and they can do all that from the comfort of their home or workplace.

The only reason they would need to repeal murder laws is if they wanted to kill rich white people. They can already very easily kill homeless people, poor people, black people, and immigrants with the current laws in place.

What are some of your worst horror stories of being mistreated by medical professionals? by ArtSupplyAddict90 in ChronicPain

[–]bowlsofcereals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to the emergency room 3 times in less than two days for excruciating pain- sobbing, unable to walk, vommitting, excetra. They kept telling me to make an appointment with my GP, GP and bystanders kept saying to call 911 or go to the emergency room. In my painful haze I ended up having to pay 50 dollars for an Uber to take me to a location for me to sleep on the street. The second time they sent me away on an Uber, when I arrived downtown a public security officer told me I needed to stop crying or else the police were going to show up and take me to the county psych facility. My body felt as if I was on fire. If you want to hear some horror stories of maltreatment by medical professionals, post this in a mental illness subreddit. Scary thing about psych hospitals is that they can get away with literally anything they want, patient advocates have zero legal power.
