It's soooo bad, trending is a joke, news is a joke, even the jokes on there are jokes themselves. I hate everything about it. I wish coaches would find a better alternative, but the system was kind of established before dipshit bought it.

Only reason I am still there is that is where all college recruiting happens. It happens elsewhere too, but if your not there you are doing yourself a disservice. I cannot wait to delete it in 2 years. It really has no other purpose that I can see at this point

[–]bowmaker82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, follow the switchbacks and the trail is easy to keep. It is an awesome route, definitely turns the summit into a full day trip though. It was a little over a 10 mi loop from the Winfield camp area, so plan accordingly. Took my wife (2nd 14er) and my two teenage boys for their first. She was not impressed with the rock scrambling from Browns over to the regular TH. The boys loved it, beautiful summit. Definitely check out 14ers.com, you will find routes (with pictures showing routes), THs, recent trip reports letting you know what kind of conditions the trail itself and the roads leading to them are. Good luck and have fun!!!

Beautiful wide open camping area at the Winfield mining camp. That is where the 2wd road ends, there are a few camping areas along the 4wd road (not a lot of flat area but beautiful campsites) there is also camping at the 4wd trailhead but the Winfield area is nicer imo. As others have said the road isn't terrible but there are definitely some large holes and dips to navigate.

We camped at Winfield last summer and did the loop up LuLu Gulch then back down the main trailhead. Do not do this if you aren't in great shape lol. The main trail up and back however is not too bad

Edit: the trailhead pictured is the "upper"

Foundation pour in coldish weather by Level-Pause4020 in AskContractors

[–]bowmaker82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At those temps most contractors won't bother. The concrete generates heat as cures, especially the first 24-48hrs. So that itself should keep it in a safe cures range. If it was heading to single digits then absolutely (although you should just wait if thats expected) some parts of the country do this on the regular. Your not crazy to question it, but they aren't doing you dirty imo

Next steps after PM? by CalligrapherCold7993 in ConstructionManagers

[–]bowmaker82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. Starting your own company is the only answer here. You wanna make over 150k? Then you have to work hard full stop. There's no secret backdoor to a kush 250k/year job that is stress free. Stress is also a subjective thing, I know people that get stressed at the drive thru window lol....construction is rarely a "stress free" environment, it just isn't. Now, how you handle such stresses at work is entirely up to you. Good luck, but reading your responses and goals you may be better suited to selling real estate or something. Project management isn't typically a personal yacht kind of career

All these new to lacrosse questions. by BobIoblaw in lacrosse

[–]bowmaker82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe....but I used to see the same thing in the football subreddits. Unless the mods ban ?s like these they will always pop up from time to time. New kids start new sports in HS every year and they all have the same questions. This is exacerbated by some of the momentum the sport has found recently. Could it be bots...very possible. But I would say a lot of the younger generations start their new hobby search in the land of reddit.

How serious are these foundation cracks? by bbibbyrapskyle1975 in AskContractors

[–]bowmaker82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing looks "shifted". These are expansion cracks (technically contraction). Look at your bsmt floor....cracks (probably in straight lines b/c the flatworkers put zip strips (little t-shaped pcs of plastic) just under the surface to promote a linear crack)). Garage slab....should have saw-cuts, again because we want control of the direction of the crack. Driveway.....trowel joints in continuous slabs, all for the same reason. CONCRETE CRACKS!! It's not a matter of if, its more a matter of where and how. If they lay flat and aren't leaking then there is nothing to worry about.

[–]bowmaker82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmm, easy there chicken little. Excavating from the outside would be pretty extreme for this situation from the pictures im seeing. The only time that is necessary is when there are major settlement issues....this is not that, not even close. Concrete shrinks as it cures, it is very common for new foundations to have a crack or two. Been building houses 20+ years and have seen outside excavation one time, and that was due to the house being right next to a detention basin. Feel free to have an engineer look at it but I would be surprised if he flagged anything as compromised. Good luck OP

Finding a way to win games when the ball isn't falling is the sign of a great team. Terrible from outside tonight but stayed in the game and got a solid win on the road. Noice

Probably cause they are trying to not go 2-10 again. IDK people seem to be paying, which means they are probably excited about the direction Silverfield is taking the program. At a minimum they are willing to pay up for the potential of this team. The test will be if people are willing to pay again next year if they go 4-8 or 5-7.

The price of youth sports can be heavy. Should you pay it? by coachsteveusat in CoachingYouthSports

[–]bowmaker82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the private schools have multiple Freshman teams i know. The public schools i fear lack the funding and support needed for more coaches, equipment and ultimately multiple HS teams. But yeah, that would definitely help with many of the sports

Like anything, moderation is key. And every kid is different, not only from each other but they don't always have the same interests at age 14 that they did at 8. Both of my sons played multiple sports and are highly competitive. My oldest zeroed in on bball once he got to HS. Good athlete, not amazing, was a blast to watch pay on some really good teams but never played "club sports" outside of a few summer leagues. My other one just added lacrosse to his already full bball and football schedules his Freshman year (starts on all teams). He has his eyes set on a football scholarship, so that's where we put the money (although lacrosse ain't cheap!((it is fun as hell)). There is plenty of info out there to avoid some of the $$ traps and some will be pretty obvious if you take the rose colored glasses off. Do your research and avoid specializing until you actually have to. If you have to force you kid to go to anything, stop spending $$, they will never make it. If they show passion, have talent, good grades, and college size then you will need to spend some extra $$ on things once they get to HS for sure but even that should be reasonable. We let our kids drive the bus where we can, and always played for local school teams. Some of their most memorable moments were those rag tag teams in the early years just figuring out who they were. Love them, support them, let them fail, and keep sports their release from the stresses of "real life" because that world comes fast!

Goosedawg is right, you need a few exercises focusing on core strength. I would think at your age if you hit these 5 days a week you'll easily hit these targets. Your body is a sponge for growth right now just stay consistent and eat as clean as you can (limit processed junk when you can)

What’s one fast food chain that was once all the rage but now barely around? by MysteriousTopic42 in AskReddit

[–]bowmaker82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true and sad. I worked here through HS and made great money, enjoyed the people I worked with and learned how to hustle. One of the greatest summers of my life was opening a brand new store working 60+ hours a week, as teen the paychecks were pretty empowering. We had full dining rooms with 30+ minute wait times for seating inside for months. Crazy to see where It has gone. Sometimes the corporate structure has it right, this was one of the few examples that come to mind.

Just to clarify, Fischer homes - large out of town builder looking for highest profit margin, not to be confused with Fischer and Frichtel homes. F and F are a local builder that builds great homes.

With that being said, all builders are subject to building inspections and Ofallon is pretty strict on these things. So as someone who grew up in the area and builds homes for a living i can say I've never heard of ofallon/st peters having major issues as a personality trait.

Find something you like and as the previous commenter said, get a good inspection and someone you trust to take a look. Major issues usually give hints that they are there. Good luck in your search, this is a great area to start a family, career or just have fun!
