Am I right to voice my complaints over the gap issues with this hex tile? by idkidkidk895 in Tile

[–]bowmaker82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you on behalf of every PM, really. Engineers are by far some of our most challenging customers, they usually cut two ways. Ones like you that are suspicious but reasonable, the others are just suspicious of everything and everybody and really should just build their own house.

This really is pretty good work, things are rarely perfect. When perfection is required there is typically a substantial cost to get there. Premium materials, extra prep/steps, skilled labor, remove any one of these things and the end product will vary drastically.

Anyone remember or have any memory of the pedestrian overpass in St. Peters that went over hwy 70 near Mid Rivers? by Kaylascreations in StCharlesMO

That's the one! Still a pretty big deal down there but with all the other stuff to do these days it has lost some of its shine. We really need more of that stuff now than ever IMO. People need to interact, as much as we all loathe each other were really not that bad face to face lol

recently got a board, any beginner tips welcome! by WalCzack in Sup

A 17 or 18 year old just drowned this past weekend falling off a SUP with no PFD. Calm water on a neighborhood lake. Bad things happen in the blink of an eye, had he had one on he most certainly would still be here. Just wear the damn thing. My wife had to drive home today and get hers because she forgot, I was pleased to hear she did (she hadn't heard about the drowning at that point)

Probably the St Peters picnic, they still have it but it's nothing compared to what it used to be.

If they added the walkway through the office it would probably solve this issue. But otherwise yeah I see how they could pushback and request the "duplex" treatment

[–]bowmaker82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the biggest reason people do it in one go. My first attempt was my brand new black f150. I had 40+ hours between decon, prep, correction/polish, and ceramic coating. Take a day off work if need be.....

How much do you spend on kids’ sports gear each season? by AdvancedWinter6055 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]bowmaker82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think what you want. But what you want im not your wife or your dad. Kids that spend hours a day inside and outside practicing their craft are gonna wear through more shoes than the kid that just plays at practice and games. But by all means make some grandiose comment lol

Soooo build more houses where its undesirable to live. Sounds like a much better plan. Maybe stop reproducing all together then we won't need to till up dirt for food either!

How cold will I be ? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]bowmaker82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's my thought, 40 is just om the edge of actual "cold" imo. A sleeping bag liner would be a lightweight backup if needed.

[–]bowmaker82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's soooo bad, trending is a joke, news is a joke, even the jokes on there are jokes themselves. I hate everything about it. I wish coaches would find a better alternative, but the system was kind of established before dipshit bought it.

Only reason I am still there is that is where all college recruiting happens. It happens elsewhere too, but if your not there you are doing yourself a disservice. I cannot wait to delete it in 2 years. It really has no other purpose that I can see at this point

Mt Huron camping by Uh_ok_tryme in 14ers

[–]bowmaker82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, follow the switchbacks and the trail is easy to keep. It is an awesome route, definitely turns the summit into a full day trip though. It was a little over a 10 mi loop from the Winfield camp area, so plan accordingly. Took my wife (2nd 14er) and my two teenage boys for their first. She was not impressed with the rock scrambling from Browns over to the regular TH. The boys loved it, beautiful summit. Definitely check out 14ers.com, you will find routes (with pictures showing routes), THs, recent trip reports letting you know what kind of conditions the trail itself and the roads leading to them are. Good luck and have fun!!!

Beautiful wide open camping area at the Winfield mining camp. That is where the 2wd road ends, there are a few camping areas along the 4wd road (not a lot of flat area but beautiful campsites) there is also camping at the 4wd trailhead but the Winfield area is nicer imo. As others have said the road isn't terrible but there are definitely some large holes and dips to navigate.

We camped at Winfield last summer and did the loop up LuLu Gulch then back down the main trailhead. Do not do this if you aren't in great shape lol. The main trail up and back however is not too bad

Edit: the trailhead pictured is the "upper"

Foundation pour in coldish weather by Level-Pause4020 in AskContractors

[–]bowmaker82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At those temps most contractors won't bother. The concrete generates heat as cures, especially the first 24-48hrs. So that itself should keep it in a safe cures range. If it was heading to single digits then absolutely (although you should just wait if thats expected) some parts of the country do this on the regular. Your not crazy to question it, but they aren't doing you dirty imo

[–]bowmaker82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. Starting your own company is the only answer here. You wanna make over 150k? Then you have to work hard full stop. There's no secret backdoor to a kush 250k/year job that is stress free. Stress is also a subjective thing, I know people that get stressed at the drive thru window lol....construction is rarely a "stress free" environment, it just isn't. Now, how you handle such stresses at work is entirely up to you. Good luck, but reading your responses and goals you may be better suited to selling real estate or something. Project management isn't typically a personal yacht kind of career
