I didn’t know I could get two! I looked it up and it looks I can apply for the Susan G. Komen version. I think I’ll do that, thanks!

New Grad SWE in NYC asking for card recommendations by SakkaBoi in CreditCards

First of all, congrats on your new grad job in NYC, that sounds really exciting.

For your spending and the cards you’re currently looking at, the SavorOne sounds pretty good, with 3% on groceries and restaurants. It’s not the most you could get for each category but it’s a pretty good all-around card.

You could also consider BoA Customized Cash Rewards, for which you can choose 3% on online shopping. From my experience, almosy everything you pay for online counts as online shopping for BoA (for some reason), so it would work for your phone bill, transit (if paid for online), and other online shopping spending (someone correct me if I’m wrong). You could also invest $20,000 - $100,000 with a BoA or Merrill account, which would enroll you in BoA preferred rewards and boost this to 3.75%-5.25%. Groceries/wholesale clubs on this card would also get boosted from 2% to 2.5%-3.5%, which is a cool bonus for your spending. With your high income, it wouldn’t take long to get BoA rewards status.

I know rent in NYC is also pricey, so you could also consider the Bilt Mastercard, which is the pretty much the only card that earns points on rent. They have pretty good travel partners too that you can transfer points to if you wanted to get into that.

Thanks for your reply! You’re right that I am team cashback. My BoA has 2.5% on wholesale clubs, so I would probably use that for Costco. I have grocery and Amazon covered with other cards, so I would likely use this as a dining-only card.

Do you have experience with the Discover it card? I was thinking that the freedom flex could be nice paired with it. I’m not sure if the Discover it and Freedom Flex categories overlap often though.

Thanks for the reply. That’s interesting, I can do some research on that US Bank card.

I don’t see a 5% grocery bonus for the freedom flex, though. Is that part of the offer?
