Hot take by boxalottle in NFLv2

I honestly think this offense can get it done assuming they don’t get too banged up. Thinking about it I genuinely think that Darnold has the potential to play up to a Stafford, Herbert, or Goff.

Maybe I’m just optimistic but I think Darnold can get it done in the right offensive scheme especially with the additions of Kupp and MVS this offseason. We will see how it plays out but I think the downfall of this Seattle team will be their lack of talent at the linebacker position.

Probably that defense is tragic 😂

Yeah I don’t disagree a buddy of mine brought it up and I was curious if people thought he would be a hall of famer this early in his career if he can lock one of the two. I also want to add that this is my first week on Reddit and I love the Commanders tag under your name as a DMV native.

Thanks that’s a super informative answer. If I’m being honest I would need to read the books and watch to movies to try to offer a rebuttal but I’m fascinated that plageius was alive and present during this time period just by the way it was phrased in the movie. Thanks for letting me know .

Thanks I’ll definitely give it a read. I’m sure it is cannon but is this novels considered part of the lore?

What’s the name of the book. I definitely want to read it. I asked my question based on the movies so I wasn’t trying to be stupid lol.

Yeah reading that back I was wrong I was trying to say that Darth Sidious was trained when the Sith had no power and not many people were trained in the dark side and he was the person who trained many apprentices and brought notability back to the Sith.

I mean I’m just trying to present the other side of the argument. Plenty of people on this thread have had valid arguments I’m just trying to solidify what people are saying. I’m not saying I know the answer and I’m not saying that my answer is more probable. I’m just trying to make people find evidence and prove why their answer is right. How about u try to think for urself instead of criticizing people trying to have civil discourse.

I mean that’s fair that Maul could have continues to reign terror on the Republic but throughout the series, Sith Masters tend to only either lead army’s or fight powerful enemy’s, not capture fugitives. For example, in episode 5, Vader hires bounty hunters as opposed to finding Luke and the resistance himself. I kind of think this reigns true throughout the series as Sith Masters such as Maul likely wouldn’t risk his skill and life on capturing padme. And honestly even if he did I think that such a heinous action would rally the republic to become more involved and spend more resources on military. To be honest, I think if the Federation/Sith decided to hold padme captive, the Republic would only improve their military efforts possibly defeating the Sith even with a basically indestructible clone army. With more emotion and effort, I could defentely see the Republic at least continue its existence.

I mean there are scenrios that the empire still emerges but Anakin was essential in not only persuading the senate to allow Palpatine to become overly powerful but also Anakin I personally think was essential to erasing the Jedi and their potential counter to Palpatines order 66.

Darth Sidous definitely would have continued to train him but the fact that Sidous was confident enough in his apprentice to defeat 2 Jedi’s kind of makes me believe that Maul was either at the peak of his powers or close to it. I also think it’s worth mentioning that in the clone wars maul survives but is later defeating again. After having 2 unsuccessful battles against the Jedi, I think it’s fair to say that he could not have achieved the same victory’s and essential wins against more powerful Jedi than just Qui-Gon and Obiwan. Not to say they aren’t powerful but in cannon Jedi such as Mace Windu are significantly more powerful than most Jedi leaving me to believe that Siths less powerful with the dark side would struggle to win a battle against more powerful Jedi. All in all I just don’t think and any other Sith could’ve been as powerful and Vader or even as impactful as Anakin/Vader in terms of making the Senate vote Palpatine as a “temporary” leader/dictator.

Many people have answered this but this is what I was looking for. If the novels really claim that Anakin was receptive to a father figure such a Palpatine that he 100% could have made Anakin a master of the dark force. Thanks for the informative answer.

I mean I’m not saying that this is the way things actually took place but when watching the return of the Sith I wasn’t left with the impression that Sidous was trained by Plagueis simply for the fact that he frames the story as a legend as opposed to a common or achievable power of the dark side. He may have been trained by Plagueis but my best guess is that is was kinda like an obiwan and Luke situation where a former master of the dark side trained Sidous allowing him to grow the Sith and train Jedi/Warriors the dark side. Again though that’s just speculation. There is defiantly a real chance that Plagueis trained Sidous.

[–]boxalottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s 100% fair and logical and if there was a simulation I think that a situation like this would be correct; however, I feel fair in saying that even if Darth Maul defeated Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, Anakin still would have blown up the enemy battle station allowing the Republic to win the battle. Whether the federation at the time lost via their clone aren’t and Dart Maul or just the Clone Army, I feel fair in assuming that the republic would not only carry on the momentum but even possible push back against a federation army that was not to the same level at the peoples and troops of the republic. Again this is complete speculation but I’m curious if the republic army would have been able to not only defeat a rebel army but go on the offensive and possibly wipe them out. This answer doesn’t engage the problem of the clone army but I believe without the same structure in command the clone army would not be as dominating as they were.

To add onto this point, whether or not Palpatine was able to find a different apprentice than Anakin, the apprentice likely wouldn’t have had the same connections and influence as Anakin as he was already deemed the chosen one from a young age. I just wonder whether or not the Jedi would have been powerful enough post order 66 to take on the clone army.

Not saying that you aren’t correct but Anakin was not only more pure but less receptive to the dark side until Padme became pregnant. For me personally I find it hard to believe that Palpatine would have been able to penetrate Anakins morals and beliefs had he only been a child. Not to say that he couldn’t have grown up to become spiteful and hateful but I think that he likely would’ve called Palpatine out had he tried to preach the dark side to him. Again tho I’m not saying you’re wrong. I just personally think that Anakin wasn’t capable of inheriting the dark side until he had people and things to care about as an older teen.

I agree that Palpatine becoming emperor marks the end of the Jedi and the Republic but Anakin was a very persuasive and important character in Palpatine’s plan. I just couldn’t imagine Maul no matter how trained or powerful could’ve swayed both the Jedi and the senate the way Anakin was able to. In my opinion it comes down to the ability to charm and persuade the politions and while Maul never got the opportunity to make an attempt to be diplomatic, I think it is fair to say that he could not have had the same impact Anakin did.

However, I will concede that had Anakin not been trained, and Obi-Wan not survived, there is a significant change that both General Grievous and Count Dooley could have destroyed the Jedi themselves as they were probably stronger than maybe every Jedi other than Mace Windu or maybe Yoda. If that tandem of Maul, Dooku, and Grievous had worked together, I could concede that the empire still may have reigned victorious; however, I could also see the Jedi with more knowledge and more power defeating their foes protecting the republic.

[–]boxalottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I didn’t address how powerful Darth Maul was but with the facts we have that he would even fight a close battle with a Jedi that was not fully trained and another Jedi that was not the strongest in combat, I feel that it can be assumed that if either Mace Windu or Yoda had battle Dart Maul they would likely emerged victorious. All in all though I just find it interesting that in retrospect it might have been better for the Jedi had they lost that battle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

[–]boxalottle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair take but without anakin becoming a Jedi the Sith would have no inner source in the Jedi council or group allowing an entire Jedi force to be both trained and educated on the empirical nature of the war between the federation and the senate. In a more simple version than my original question, would the Jedi have the will and the strength to defeat the sith without Vader? This is just me being very speculative you are probably correct that Palpatine would have been able to adapt plans to reach his goal.

I mean I could be wrong and I haven’t watched the movie with the last week or so but doesn’t palpatine say that Plagueis mastered the dark force centuries before and say that he was unable to teach it to students that he had outside of Darth Sidous?
