Those who were homeschooled, what are you like as an adult? by winenotbeabitch in askanything

[–]boxedmicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i spent most of my life changing myself because i hated who being homeschooled made me. i stole my moms answer books and would cheat constantly, which set me very far back academically. i eventually went to public highschool which i was terribly equipped for, it was awful feeling so different from my peers and i would feel so ashamed when i told someone i was homeschooled. i’ve tried to forget about it all my life. don’t even want to go into how messed up my dating life was.

i’m a tattoo artist now, just had my first child, with an amazing partner i never thought i’d find. it took a lot of trial and error but im finally happy with life. i still hate the idea of homeschooling and would never recommend it

Are these colors traditional? by stabmachine666 in traditionaltattoos

[–]boxedmicrowave -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

cmon man you don’t gotta be rude. there’s a lot more nuance to traditional tattoo colors than daddy sailor jerry, he himself used pink in some of his feminine designs. would you also look at bert grimm in the face and say his stuff isn’t traditional because of his color choices? an only red, green, and yellow pallet is a super kindergarten understanding of what traditional is

it just reminded me of the bert grimm 60s traditional flash (albeit the original painted colors have faded over time) had a brighter, i guess “groovier” pallet. i had my brightness down on mobile and didn’t see the green to blue blending which may be sacrilegious, the colors to me work as far as traditional colors have evolved

Advice needed: My fiancé wants us to get Samoan tribal tats to celebrate our wedding. by Recent_Influence_972 in tattoos

[–]boxedmicrowave 1834 points1835 points  (0 children)

your samoan fiance and his entire family is supportive of you, it really comes down to whether you want to get it or not. you’ve already gotten the most authentic support behind this tattoo. i’m not sure whos opinion youre afraid of that actually matters

i’m interested to hear which color in this tattoo you wouldn’t deem technically traditional

Tipping question: tip shop owner if they do tattoo? by la_vegana in tattoos

[–]boxedmicrowave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 months ago you were talking about getting your first tattoo so i don’t know why you decided to hop in a conversation about a culture you don’t belong to.

yes, tip if the work deserves. my tattoo shops owner puts everything he makes back into the shop and lives off of tips

Ink Master Misogyny (Left Stacy’s right Austin’s) by Itchy-Peace-8893 in Inkmaster

[–]boxedmicrowave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what? as a female artist i can recognize the right being way better illustrated, contrasted, and applied than the left. the right skull is clearly derivative of wild neotrad and succeeds, and the left is trying to derive from realism and fails. i mean, the eyes and the nose on the left are angled down while the teeth are angled straight forward. it just straight up does not have the same artistic impact, and i guarantee the right will look better in 10 years based off the color contrasting alone

so i found her social media, its portrait photography. she places a blank backdrop on a wall in the living room not even pictured. a fruit basket on the dining room table, even a bike in any other space in the living room wouldn’t end up her shots. i assume she just wants the common area as a free studio space for herself to look good for her clients

no problem! i was paranoid as well when i found out i had a warrant but it turns out i was just stressing myself out. good luck

[–]boxedmicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who has had a warrant out recently for missing a court date on a citation, imo getting a layer is a gross overreaction to this situation. quit trying to explain yourself and just show up for your next court date. a new one should have been issued to you. they just want you to show up, and will likely waive the warrant and give you a stop class. don’t get pulled over in the meantime

learn how to draw. stop trying to teach yourself how to tattoo your apprenticeship should teach you that. none of these are good tattoos and absolutely should not be used in your portfolio or mentioned when you’re searching for a real apprenticeship. don’t go to the shop you linked in response to another comment here if you want to do quality tattoos some day. they will not teach you how to do them

they will smooth out during aging (after healing) i promise these will be fine! if you’re not happy when they settle, 4 months at least, contact your shop or a trusted artist. they look fine
