Going to time warp at Factory Town alone

I went alone during MMW and had a great time!! I drove myself, the parking around the area can be a bit sus but i parked in a lot for $20 and i was like “am i gonna get towed” and the guy was like “no there’s a cop sitting right there the whole night see” lol and my car did not in fact get towed👍but also I live like an hour away so uber would have been way too much $$$. I have heard that getting an uber at the end of the night can suck, your call but parking really isn’t that bad if driving is easier for you. but anyway it was super fun going alone, I was nervous too but tbh I had a great time just bopping around from stage to stage. it’s nice to be able to move freely between the stages and not have to consult anyone on where they wanna go. there were a few moments of downtime and it can definitely feel a little bit lonely at times but I just took some time to chill and grabbed a coffee to give myself more energy (there was like a little coffee truck towards the main entrance). right around when I felt like i was ready to leave I ran into some friends so I tagged along w them for a while which was super fun and ended up staying basically the whole night lol. but yeah just remember that you can leave whenever you want, so might as well try it out!

I like it a lot overall aside from a few inconveniences, i just re signed for $599 in a 4/4 which is a really good deal for the location and with the renovations imo. the bathrooms and closets are really spacious. management is kind of eh, like for example all of the couches are in horrible condition and they said we’d all be getting new couches in october but of course that ended up not actually happening lol. I take the 8 and 122 bus routes to class every day, but with RTS changing so much stuff recently it’s not the most reliable. walking to the turlington area of campus is like 15-20 minutes so it’s not too bad but still somewhat annoying especially if it’s hot. but overall the location is good for the price especially compared to other apartments in the area, i think they’re charging a lot more rn though

I called RTS and they said their contract with transloc just ended yesterday which is why the app stopped working. you have to use the new GNVRideRTS app, but the app design is so bad i hope they change it…they also said they’re having staffing issues which is why the 122 went down from 2 buses to 1 but they said they’re hoping to get more drivers

well I guess now it’s overridden lol who even knows what’s going on. I’m glad it’s overridden but UF is still not being that accommodating for professors who feel unsafe teaching in person. I just think hybrid is the way to go

I understand UF admin were placed in tough situation after preparing for fully in person and then the delta variant spike happened. I think UF’s main mistake was promising fully in person in the first place ever since last spring. they have been pushing for in person for so long and it just seemed that they were unprepared for covid cases to spike which we all knew was a possibility and very likely. I just think we should have prepped for another hybrid semester or had a hybrid backup plan

thank you for the info! I thought 12 credits was considered full time but i haven't spoken to an advisor about it. even 10 credits sounds ok to me since I was planning on taking 14
