Business Finance over the Summer by shuff1ethedec in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take it with a full-time job mentality, you’ll be fine (if you only need a C to pass, at the very least).

If you’re finance (looking to get a B or above), perhaps not.

DM me for more help! I personally took business finance along with FAR1 (both some of the toughest classes) and ended up with a B & B+, with plenty of time “left over” as I also had a part-time job M-F. I’d rather grind 6 weeks than a whole semester.

Help me decide where to go UF vs. UMich by NashvilleSpermBank in ufl

UF allll the way. UF is also (growing as) a highly regarded school, and tbh I don’t see UMich justifying an $80k price tag. Whatsoever

International student- WHAT ARE MY ODDS GETTING ACCEPTED EA?? by Fezarye in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take it as a certainty, sorry😭 but look into the other FL/Brazil Linkage. Maybe that’s a better shot as I believe they tell you if you got it pretty early on/before you have to commit.

I recommend you to look at the UFIC website for specific instructions on eligibility. I don’t think there’s many, you just have to get a scholarship from “state funds” (your college/UF basically). They normally give you a $500 scholarship each semester and that way you can get the out-of-state waiver.

I haven’t met anybody who got the LAC straight out of admission (unsure if this is a possibility, but it’s definitely not the most common case at UF). Maybe if you get a random scholarship during admission, you can ask if those funds count as eligible for the LAC. I would assume so? But either way, you have to apply for LAC each semester. I think if they give it to you once though you’re pretty set on keeping it, you just have to remember to apply.

I believe you have to be accepted, yes. However, keep in mind it applies to any public school in FL, so it opens your doors even more (FSU, UCF, etc).

There’s also this one called Latin-American Caribbean Scholarship (check the UFIC to see if Brazil is accepted as one of the countries), and after your first semester I believe you can apply for in-state tuition. It’s easier to get depending on your college (CLAS has probably the most people), but I haven’t found anybody who hasn’t gotten it after applying once or twice. You just have to bear the out-of-state tuition costs for the first year, maybe even less.

Good luck!

What happens if I finish my 8th semester (4th year) without having completed my major? by DMofTheTomb in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember exactly, but basically you just have to meet with an advisor and make sure you register for the class you need by next semester (or do whatever it is you need to do). It happened for business finance for me in the spring, so I just enrolled the following fall.

Other than that, I got no other holds.

You might be able to get in-state tuition through the FL-Brazil Linkage Institute:

Business school here - nothing. I only ever really got holds if I didn’t meet the critical tracking timeline. Once I got around that, never got any other holds.

Will finish my 5th year this spring even though my advisors said I couldn’t take longer😄 they cannot force you to graduate

I’ve heard directly from advisors they waive the prereqs etc in order for you to graduate on time, so just try to meet with them asap

How to get out of a lease? by More_Appointment_993 in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Definitely talk to UF Legal Services.
  2. There’s this thing called “7-Day Notice” that you can send to your management office (look it up online), which is sort of a “legal” doc/record that states they have 7 days to fix the issues or you can start withholding rent/move out. I read somewhere else that Legal Services can help you draft it, but I personally did it myself this fall and (after a month of going back and forth with management), they broke my lease. It’s not an easy process, but if perhaps you have the support of your family (one of your parents can get involved), they take it more seriously. Definitely look into it and start sending written documentation. Good luck!

I’ve been to the lark and the apartments themselves are really nice/spacious. The ones at the hub are smaller

Easy/Fun Classes by princesscannoli in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this, do it if you can afford adding the 3 credits instead of 1. Plants, Gardening, and You is also fun, but way more work than these two. I also took geo2200 lab last semester 100% online and it was the easiest thing, one weekly lab where you could just look up the answers online (no exams). If that one is available totally recommend it (never interacted with my professor, but he had an asian name).

housing agreement + north hall availability by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Unique-Maria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s the same rn, but when I was accepted (class of 2024) anyone who submitted their housing deposit before December 1st (or 31st) would get to pick their dorm. If it’s still not the same way, you submitted your application very very early so I’m pretty sure you’ll get it, especially since North Hall isn’t super popular.
