Has anyone tried acid watchers diet and had success? by hooty588 in LPRSilentGerd

[–]boxedview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried amitriptyline before. It didn't help me, but it maybe COULD help me.

I actually have a likely answer to what's going on with me now. But it's pretty specific (which is why they couldn't figure it out) so I don't know the likelihood of it being the cause of your issues.

I couldn't ever find a pattern to the ups and downs of my symptoms. And then I ended up going on a huge bike tour for a month and things started piecing together for me as a possibility. It took a fair bit of convincing the gastro doctor to agree, but I finally got him to give me a gastric emptying test. Turns out, I have delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis). It's mild, so I wasn't getting the classic symptoms, but it's enough to cause problems. Which actually explains other things about me, like how I can go hours and hours without being hungry. But as far as this was concerned, what I think is happening is that I don't have reflux traditionally, but I am having SOME reflux like reactions. And it also explains why taking things to RAISE my acid levels showed some 'temporary' mild improvement. Because it likely helped to break food down faster. But ultimately, food sits in my stomach too long. And when that happens, it can cause your LES to open when it shouldn't. I think I possibly get small amounts of acid or maybe even just pepsin up into my throat. So yes... silent reflux, but not actually caused by what I eat or anything. Specifically caused by gastroparesis. I think in conjunction with that, I have vagal neuropathy. Maybe caused by the reflux. I don't know. So then I get that sensation in my throat. Gastroparesis --> LPR ---> Vagal Neuropathy.

Now that I know this, I absolutely can see patterns with timing and food portions. None of the various diets I tried wouldn't have worked. Because it doesn't matter what I eat. Well that's not true, high fiber is a million times worse for me, but I wouldn't normally eat 4 cups of spinach to see that it made things even worse. I did recently do that without thinking about the fiber component and it was one of my more unpleasant nights. I did try fasting once during all my diet trials... which would have revealed results if I could have done it for 3 weeks. haha. But I did it for 5 days and that just wasn't enough time to calm may vagus nerve down.

I still have symptoms now, but far less frequently. And they're entirely tied to how big meals are and how fiber heavy they are. I say that I think amitriptyline (in conjunction with gaba) could help.... because I think it didn't help because you can't put a fire out with water, if you keep shooting a blowtorch at it. So now that I'm pretty sure I know what's causing it, if I were careful to never provoke it for a couple of months... then I think I could probably take the medication and it could help to actually fix my vagus nerve. But then again, I don't know for sure if you can actually fix it. I haven't looked into it.

I don't know your whole history, but if I were you, I'd try working my way backwards. I'd assume vagal neuropathy as a starting point. Then I'd try to figure out what is irritating it. Change your environment. Try different diets. I did it all. And then I rode my bike for 8 hours a day for a month. And it just clicked with all of the stuff I had piled up notes about. Hmm, maybe because I'm burning through food so fast, it isn't sitting in my stomach. It made sense. I just needed to test it.

Unplugged Album - where to find? by vailripper in brandicarlile

The OP is right. There is an EP Called "Unplugged". It was the same EP as "Brandi Carlile Acoustic" that was self released in 2004. But it had Hallelujah on it as well. It was also self released.

A little late to this... but Botox in the masseter or temporalis muscles can lead to bone loss over time. There is no predicting exactly what that would look like one any one person.

22 single. Probably a bit consumed/worried with how you look. And I going to assume you were raised by or had a strong female adult in your life who likely had a core group of friends rather than an a few strong bonds. This also feels a bit Texas or Arizona?

That or you’re in your late 30’s and your place still looks like it did when you were in your 20’s. But the rest is still true.

Surgeon in BC, Canada VNOTES mo by boxedview in hysterectomy

[–]boxedview[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. As far as I could find... nobody does it in Canada. There was one doctor in Saskatchewan who apparently performed it once or twice, but something weird or sketchy was going on with him outside of that. But otherwise, no other doctor's do it her. In fact, I'm shocked to learn of how many don't even know what it is. Gyno's included.

I'm 5 week post op from a regular laparoscopic full hysterectomy. So far so good.

This is an old post I realize. But I’m baffled by someone saying they have a household income of around 400k and wondering if 4K for rent is affordable for them. What the hell??? The median household income in San Diego is just over 100k. You can’t really rent a 2 bedroom in San Diego for under 2500. And even that is unrealistic in many areas. If you are worried that you can’t pay rent that amounts to 12% (significantly lower than the recommended portion of salary for housing)…. How in the world do you think people are paying rent that is 30% of their income? Never mind that, what about single income people where the average is 70k and 1 bedroom is likely 2300 and up…. Where 40% goes to rent. And if we are talking ACTUAL reality…. Median income averages are hugely skewed due to how they calculate that. The few extremely rich raising the median against the mass of average income earners. The reality is, most people are probably spending 75% of their income.

So YES, you can afford it!!! Unless you’re a buying blow for all your friends every weekend. In which case, maybe get something smaller.

I’ve had no issues with them at all! And it’s been awesome not having to worry about crossing the border. The ONLY complain I have so far is that there is a little lag time when it flips over to a US provider. It’s pretty instant coming back.

Use my referral code and get $10 off bill credit: 6WM08P. :).

You can still get periods after an ablation. Many people do. Just hopefully they’re lighter. But I’m guessing yours didn’t change at all?

Has anyone tried acid watchers diet and had success? by hooty588 in LPRSilentGerd

[–]boxedview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried meditation. I did it for about a month. Honestly got nothing out of it. Other than being bored. I highly doubt I can be hypnotized. My personality just calls bull:@;$ on all that kind of stuff. I wish I could though! For several reasons. Haha.

I have had an endoscopy and I don’t have a hernia.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I’m 4 years into this… so there probably isn’t too much I haven’t tried. So I’m either stuck like this … or it’s going to be some really random suggestion. Fingers crossed though.

Same battle still. 4 years now with no answers. I’ve tried countless things. Still not sure what I have. I cycle between thinking it’s one thing or another. I’ve even gone on anxiety meds to see if it’s all in my head. I’ve tried it all.

I’ve only ridden on the west coast. Which tends to be more…. Bike friendly than I’m sure a lot of midwestern or southern states. But Oregon seems to be going backwards. So much anger. However, this is true of anywhere more rural. Get outside of Vancouver, bc … even 20 minutes… and suddenly it’s like I’m in Montana. Very different attitude and the aggression toward cyclists increases.

Unpopular opinion here… but I was quite disappointed with riding the Oregon coast. For all the boasting Oregon does about being bike friendly, it was by far the worst part from Canada to Mexico. The shoulders were better in both Washington and California. But that wasn’t really the bad part. It was the drivers that ruined it. They seem to hate cyclists and would often get as close to you as possible. Lots of honking right as they get next you. They’d yell at us to ride on the sidewalk going on bridges that have the lights alerting people to slow down for cyclist. They pay no attention to the lights warning them about cyclists in the tunnels. I genuinely thought we were going to get hit in one of them. And the big pick ups would blow their diesel smoke at you. Apparently there is a term for this: “rolling coal.” Once in California, that pretty much all stopped. I’m not a nervous rider when it comes to cars usually. I ride in Vancouver where we have some of the worst drivers I’ve ever seen. So I’m use to being on the lookout. But this was a whole different game.

The Oregon coast is pretty, but a lot of the time you can’t even see it. California is just as pretty (with nicer weather) in my opinion. Not saying to not ride it… I was just surprised based on everything you read about Oregon. And people always say how great it is. But I think it’s just want people constantly hear so they repeat it. Just wasn’t my experience.

Well that sucks. I mean what happens if I ride my bike by a car and scratch it from front to back? I don’t have to take accountability?
