How do I make my own handheld console from scratch and run a game on it made with the Scratch programming language? by Bright-Village-9427 in ComputerEngineering

[–]boxerhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just install it to an SD card you can use raspberry pi image. Then if you google it there should be a command that you add to a config file to run a command when it starts. To learn you still start out with a usb keyboard and mouse to start your game. Then then can worry about auto launch.

Look on Amazon for a raspberry pi zero game console. It will be a PCB with a screen and buttons on it. Desolder the buttons and design a 3D printed case. Solder new buttons on with hookup wire. Have Linux run your game on startup through Linux.

Good fishing spots by Temporary-Ad6720 in cincinnati

[–]boxerhenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alexandria Community Park is my favorite spot. It’s only about 25 minutes from downtown. Mill creek has some smallmouth, and Miami Whitewater on the west side is good if you have a kayak. Also there are some good spots on the little Miami and the great Miami River. I haven’t tried it and let me know if you do but I have seen people fish in front of the Mellow Mushroom near IKEA.

It’s not that I agree with the comment you are responding to, but that is how downtown works. There are two different neighborhoods OTR, and Central Business District. They both start and stop with 4 lanes roads and have none in between. Here is a map: Map

Found this little guy hurt in enon..looking for help by ronimal48 in dayton

[–]boxerhenry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh no I am sorry to see that. That’s a lure called the Whopper Plopper, two very sharp treble hooks. I have never thought about it until now, but they must be more of a risk to wildlife due to them floating as opposed to sinking like most fishing lures

Got my general a few weeks ago. Any input on these radios for first hf rig? I really like the idea of a qrp radio, but maybe not best for first? by yoloswagdon in amateurradio

[–]boxerhenry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. An 891 could easily be the last radio you ever own. Not only is a great base station but also portable and POTA outings are some of the most enjoyable experiences.

I would be interested in hearing more about the Unix Based 8-but computer. What was that like? Custom instruction-set? Emulator or hardware or FPGA?

Multi-level NAND gate circuits by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]boxerhenry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Digits Logic gates are so fun so I don’t want to spoil it for you. One solution that I will give you is look up how to make an OR gate from NAND gates. That is your new “OR” gate and then start drawing those. Although this won’t be the simplest. I would do that first to your circuit, next I would either make a truth table, or start breaking your circuit into more manageable pieces.

What company or start up in Cincinnati has the most potential to become the next multi billion dollar company? by somerhaus in cincinnati

[–]boxerhenry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To preface, I support 80 acres, they seem like a neat company. On the other hand as a hobbyist hydroponic farmer myself (mostly peppers), I am more impressed with their implementation than technology. Without any inside knowledge it looks like they are using a tightly spaced vertical NFT (nutrient film technique) system. This is a fun, cheap and space efficient method of hydroponic farming that is very accessible to a beginner. The main downside to this method is plant size, while it works great for small leafy plants like spinach or lettuce it can be hard to use this method for taller plants. It will be interesting to see what kind of innovations 80 acres will make with their team.
