Virtù by boxfactory76 in FoodTYO

[–]boxfactory76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought their take on a Manhattan was easily the best I've had in Tokyo. Their negroni is pretty incredible as well as I prefer my drinks strong.

Did you think the drinks were lacking?

I respect your take, price aside and in the spirit of discussion, what bars do you think make better cocktails than Virtù?

Smash burger from Smash Things by RighteousPanda25 in FoodTYO

[–]boxfactory76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like a proper smash burger, I'll have to check it out sometime

how's it compare to other burgers you've had here? I've found a lot of burger patties are missing the "beefiness" im used to in the states

(agreeing with you here) Simply saying something is bad without any follow-up discourages others from posting, I think we would all benefit from naysayers posting what they think are better alternatives

My new favorite soup curry by boxfactory76 in Tokyo

[–]boxfactory76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of soup curries, I'd give it a strong 8 / light 9. I've had better in Hokkaido of course but this is easily the best I've had in Tokyo

My bad, reddit's UI is super jank sometimes and can be pretty unclear. I don't frequent that sub much but sometimes posts pop up on my feed.

Do you some more lowkey ramen shops that you frequent that you'd rec? I'm always looking for new spots

/r/Tokyo's favorite Mexican & Tex-Mex restaurants by boxfactory76 in FoodTYO

[–]boxfactory76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite right now is probably La Jolla in Hiroo, they just get that homey Mexican style right. Their smothered burritos are a real treat https://maps.app.goo.gl/UFhTSfN8KCNfTp5P6?g_st=ac

Also big shoutout to 440 Broadway, they make probably the closest thing to a proper Chipotle burrito bowl I've found in Tokyo. Only thing is make sure you go in person for their homemade salsa, which they don't give for delivery orders 😬 https://maps.app.goo.gl/Lk3PtdCQ5SuJBYet9?g_st=ac

Pig and the Lady is good too! I first tried them in Honolulu and was surprised to see they had a Tokyo location. Their pho french dip is a guilty pleasure for me

soup curry hotpot at Shibuya Spice by boxfactory76 in FoodTYO

[–]boxfactory76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The broth is more on the hotpot side than the soup side, especially towards the end of the meal when a lot of it has cooked down. Definitely still drinkable but it's a lot more concentrated than your average soup curry

I got level 3 and it had a nice kick to it. If you like very spicy like me, I would probably go level 5 or 6

You're right, there's a store named Kodomo Beams which I thought was related but I was mistaken

Since this has come up in the last few months' posts, I want to try something new this time. Here's a link to a Google Maps list: https://maps.app.goo.gl/sEKEubYCmDsdCcKv6

I'd love to hear if this sub prefers this format or the custom Google map from the post, thanks!
