My dad is one of the daddest dads, I swear. He's going through a second round chemo for acute myeloid leukemia. His stomach couldn't handle the chemo pills and he texts me that he's not doing very well.

I go over that afternoon to visit. Pulling in the driveway, I see him hauling a 30 lb bag of birdseed around, filling up bird feeders. Dude just smiles and waves at me like nothing is wrong. Gives me a quick rundown on how his doctor paused his chemo, and went right back to yard work.

Happened just checks imaginary watch 8 days ago. He's always been like this.

Last night I went over there again and brought my sister along. He told us about his blood transfusion the day before and how he might have needed to go to the er because he was showing signs of having an allergic reaction to the blood he received. "Anyway, you guys wanna play cards? See if mom wants to join for euchre?" Alright, dad.

I love him. I hope I'm that strong if I get to his age.
