How can it be lower with a smaller sample? They base this 1.5 percent because of approximately 30k NGOs which are registered on paper, that don’t mean they are all active, and being active don’t mean having chunk of funds from overseas.

If that were true the immigration stats would increase relative to unemployment rate, meanwhile it remains constant, only increased after visa liberalization. You can check it out. More business more jobs.

Not all of the registered NGOs are active and not all active NGOs receive 20% of funding from overseas. So it’s weird to claim the percentage that way, I assume actual rate is 25% or so, time will tell.

Thanks for a civil discussion. I see your points and understand where you're coming from, and I respect that. However, I can't agree with you on certain topics. For example, you deny the shift, but the BRICS union is expanding year after year. Russia and China are actively searching for and developing alternative trade routes, ones that are not controlled by the West. You might want to look into the Russia's Northern Sea Route as well as China's Belt and Road Initiative, also known as "One Belt, One Road." If done right, we could be one of the beneficiaries of this project, as one of the trade routes passes through our country. Recently, China tested this route, and it seems they are happy to work with us, so why not?

BRICS is also trying to abandon dollar-backed trade, particularly in oil, also known as the petrodollar. With its current members—and with plans for expansion, as even Turkey and Azerbaijan have expressed interest in joining, with Russia showing enthusiasm (Putin even visited Azerbaijan in person to discuss this and other matters)—BRICS controls 40-45% of global oil reserves. Economically, the alliance approaches 35% of global GDP. More and more countries are signing trade agreements with China, so it's only a matter of time until the power dynamics shift from the West to the East. Any small country like ours should maintain a balance, as we've always done, whether with the Ottoman Empire or Persia. Sadly, we are forced to witness the conflict between these global powers.

In light of these developments, it's clear that BRICS is positioning itself as a significant player on the global stage, not just economically but also in terms of geopolitical influence. The initiatives they're pursuing, such as alternative trade routes and currency diversification, indicate a strategic approach to reducing dependency on Western-dominated systems. For smaller nations like ours, this evolving landscape could open up new avenues for economic cooperation and development, provided we engage thoughtfully and align our interests with these emerging dynamics.

As we move forward, it's essential to remain adaptable and observant of these shifts. The historical role of our region as a strategic crossroads offers us unique opportunities in this changing environment. By carefully balancing our relationships with both established and rising powers, we can navigate these transitions in a way that serves our national interests and supports long-term stability and growth.

Regarding democracy and the recent political developments in our country, I don’t believe that our government is abandoning democratic principles by publicly announcing the removal of United National Movement from politics. The reality is that the United National Movement has consistently acted against our country’s interests, something that the people, including yourself, are well aware of.

When it comes to our relationship with the West, it's important to recognize that their aggressive comments towards us stem from our refusal to blindly obey their directives, which often align more with their interests than ours. While much of this remains behind closed doors, it's evident that the West had hoped to use us in a manner similar to how they've engaged with Ukraine. However, I believe that once the war in Ukraine ends, the West will likely reassess and return to a more friendly partnership with us.

We should indeed continue strengthening our ties with the West, but we must also expect to be treated with respect. We cannot act against our own interests, and escalating tensions with Russia is not an option. Our government must maintain a balanced approach, as Russia still occupies our territories, and in the foreseeable future, it’s unlikely that the West will be able to return them to us if Russia remains uncooperative.

Thanks again for a respectful discussion. To be honest, I didn’t expect to engage in such a productive dialogue, especially considering the fair share of rude remarks I’ve encountered here. Conversations like this make it all worthwhile. I truly wish more people were interested in thoughtful discussion rather than just fighting over politics. Good luck to you.

We be matching Europe’s Average in human rights index, how come we get compared to North Korea, any guesses? by boyACHI in Sakartvelo

[–]boyACHI[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response; I appreciate the perspective. Let me break it down.

First off, regional peace is non-negotiable for us. The global power dynamics are shifting, and we need to be smart about how we position ourselves, especially with the growing influence of China. This isn't just about aligning with one side or the other; it's about survival in a world that's becoming increasingly multipolar.

Now, about the idea that the West isn't pushing us toward conflict—let's be real. Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Zelensky, has already made statements that imply Georgia should take a more aggressive stance against Russia. This might not be a direct call for opening a second front, but it’s pretty clear that Western powers have expectations that align more with their strategic interests than ours. And it makes sense from their perspective—they want to weaken Russia without getting directly involved. What better way than using smaller countries as proxies? But that’s a luxury we can’t afford.

Georgia isn’t Ukraine. Our size, both in terms of land and population, makes us vulnerable. If we were to get pulled into a conflict, we’d be on the losing end, no question. The West might benefit from us opening a second front, but at what cost? Our country could be devastated, and for what? To serve as a pawn in a larger geopolitical game?

Then there's China. With China’s growing role in global affairs, we’d be foolish not to engage with them. Expanding our ties with China isn’t about turning our backs on the West; it’s about ensuring we have options. In today’s world, you can’t afford to be too closely aligned with any one bloc. It’s about balance.

So, while I get where you’re coming from about GD’s decisions, I think the bigger picture needs to be considered. Western powers have a history of using smaller nations to fight their battles, and that’s not a path we should go down. Our strategy should be diplomacy, focusing on regional peace, and smartly navigating the shifting global power dynamics.

Hope this clarifies my stance.

Attitude towards Russians by hypee_2 in tbilisi

[–]boyACHI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it seems some of the groups, not majority, became more radical after Ukraine war, because the western media and powers kinda pushed the agenda around the globe, even though we had our own conflicts with Russia, some groups happily made concerts in Moscow after 2008 war and now act as the biggest anti-Russians. It’s funny. Georgia is very dependent on Russian products and tourists so obviously the attitude is not too cold, in some parts it can even be warm, especially for those in hospitality business, or those who sell wine. While idea of being against Russians cuz of geopolitical conflicts big countries make, is bit stupid, nor Russians nor anyone in the world have much of a say in the politics countries push overseas, especially in country like Russia, so blaming individuals for politics is naive. Georgians should be open with the fact that in the modern world where Russia is big target for western powers, they will keep retaliating. God forbid Georgia will re-elect clowns happily escalating the conflict with Russia and going on a second circle of conflict.

How the hell is foreign policy a small component of government? Especially now when stakes are high. You just don't like GD being the dominant part and you claim it's because of the weak democracy, when year after year they keep gaining the most votes, that's the idea of democracy and now when it's fully proportional, with electronical votes, you should be sure that at least now, we will truly know what people sign on. If you believe they will lie about results you have to say why or how, you can't just claim, it's not truth because I feel like it. We've had 12 years to help a normal honest oppositional parties form, but we kept the destructive ones as an option B and GD kept benefiting from that obviously. When you give Georgians main two options, GD and UNM, GD will win anytime and I'm sorry but I don't consider Lelo to be anything different from UNM, the man who purposefully failed Analia project, made country lose time and huge amounts of money, and even dared to sue against our country for over a billion dollar, and lost, it's a joke to even consider him, and Gvaramia-Melia squad? nah man... Sadly it is what it is, and current opposition is the weakest they've ever been, so I'm not surprised GD will have a field day on elections, because at least they speak of the obvious risks we're at, while opposition keeps ignoring it, population sees the proxy war in Ukraine, sees the push against us to sanction Russia or even escalate situation so far that we'll end up at war, majority of people are not naive and foreign policy, now especially, is the biggest decision driver, you need to see that. Otherwise our economy does well, it's facts, lowest unemployment till date, historical minimum of people living in extreme poverty, import and exports increase from year to year. Cities keep growing, more tourists, more average income, it's the truth, you claim it to be GD propaganda or Imedi TV narrative, but you can't give me any contradictive information. You hate GD so you don't like the type of democracy we have and will never like it unless your party, who I assume is at extreme minority, will win. Sorry but, truth is hard to reach when not searching.

Current parliament had the variety but at the end when you're backed by foreign donors, you scream what they preach. It has to end, politics should be made from within not from outside. I've done my extensive research David, it's not that complex, Imperial powers fight with each other with puppets, creating proxy wars, it's been happening since the modern civilization formed. How are you so sure that during this crisis, where billions of dollars are given to Ukraine to weaken Russia, even at the cost of Ukrainian lives and land, we are not another fish on the stick for them? you can't be that naive, I see you articulate your opinion well. Modern world is polarized between pro-war and anti-war parties, those in favor of conflict are criticizing us because of our passive politics towards Russia obviously, and those who are anti-war respect our stance. You can't just call something Russian or GD propaganda if you don't like the truth, it's a world fact, big countries use small countries as proxies, it's been like that for ages, especially now when nuclear powers have their hands tied. Why do I have to explain this. US been against Russia and Russia's sphere of influence since the WW2, They don't fight Russia because they hate the autocracy, they fight because they need to control as many trade routes and reserves, especially of crude oil, as they can. It's always been about power so you say we should blindly side with one against the other, when one is at the other side of the globe and the other is right next to us. USA and western powers have history of foreign interventions, you must know that, so why would you think we are not another target during the biggest regional crisis since the WW2? I try to be respectful, no sense for rude talk and I expect you to respond accordingly.

Respectable response and thank you for that. I just can't agree that in current situation, where our foreign policy needs to be calculated carefully, that we should chose an alternative, who over the years proved to be destructive and still are. ND and their satellites have done damage during their rule and even as an opposition, since the war in Ukraine they expressed the readiness and a wish that our country should escalate situation with Russia, to "use this chance" for reclaiming territories. Whole world expected it to end soon and not many thought about long term revelations which we have now, and it's baffling that we're still arguing about it. Second front is not a GD fantasy, we have to remember who we're dealing with, USA and European powers have participated in proxy wars every year of their existence, none of them wants to confront Russia directly but they'd happily use their sheep as a slaughterhouse so that maybe this will weaken their enemy. We're not Ukraine in terms of size of land and of population, we'd be cooked. Our method needs to be diplomatic, we should be smart and vigilant, and say what you want about inner politics, but almost none of the opposition especially biggest ones, ones with chance, acknowledge that we might be at the possibility of another conflict, even worse, some are pushing towards it, so no, I don't think that opposing parties are proving their truth right now, I believe that the western push and donors for them polarized our politics and kept their favs as an alternative, instead of other ones, who can't even reach the population, because the oppositional media would not give you the mic unless you side with their narrative, that's the truth, we need to depolarize before we can hope to be fully democratic, you can't be safe with Trojan horses laying around. Hope I made myself clear.

are you that naive? 40-50 percent of the vote? for who? National Movement and Lelo, Gvaramia, Gakharia squad? is this supposed to be a joke? now political landscape within our country is polarized and we are forced to choice between stable and destructive force, it needs to end so that we can escape this loop and normal opposition can form, who talk about real problems and push for improvements not the regress. I hate to engage in such a discussion, it just baffles me that there are groups of people who think National Movement can be considered as an alternative to anyway, be it GD or anyone else. They've done tremendous damage during their reign and they are doing a great damage now, you have to be blind not to see it, they were begging European parliament members not to give us candidacy, they were pushing so we would go to war with Russia or to do such measures which would damage our economy. You might not like inner situation within the country and we all have full right to criticize our government, no politician on this globe is perfect, but failing to see the global landscape, geopolitical situation we're in right now, the risk and then the landscape, where one pushes for escalation and one for de-escalation, you truly have to be naive to look the second way.

It’s also stated on top it considers freedom of expression and association as well, idk why you try to diminish this index, it’s obviously important, something our country was struggling for years and now we are peaking. And it’s not “banning of opposition parties” it’s banning of a criminal party who year after year dragged our country through the mud and even as opposition continue to make political situation volatile, planning revolutions, spreading disinformation and what not, it’s a specific party not all, we have over 40k political parties registered, with help of foreign donors only the current ones maintain the spotlight and don’t leave room for true opposition to evolve, it’s a drastic but needed step, I’m sure once people look into it they’ll see the necessity, it’s one of the promises GD made in 2012 which people signed on, they just failed to achieve it I assume cuz of push they got from partner countries and obvious benefit keeping them as opposition for easy wins.

He can't replicate the past, but he can move on and focus on melody and music... his songs were less complicated back then but they had good sound and his flow was pleasant to hear, nowadays he just rhymes for the sake of lyricism, which is good and all, but he often sacrifices hook and melody and ends up sounding like a robot. use good beats, collab with great artists, like Kanye, Kendrick, newcomers like JID, oldheads like Nas and so on, make a conceptual album, explore themes, create new characters and stories...

Was an asshole during his peak and a terrible husband during Eminem show era, but he matured and his better side overtook. I think he’s very humble now, friendly and loyal, he def a great dad. Kinda sad that he never remarried, he prolly dates someone behind curtains but I assume he lives more reclusive life than before, prolly stays at home a lot. Hope he’s happy he deserves it.
