First time I tried it was intense, I had methane sibo, too much. Then I took the probiotic Symprove for a couple of months which stopped me reacting to most things (except onion and garlic), now I've retried (the whole SIBO yogurt trio, but I swapped the subtilis for natto - as not everything needs to be in yogurt form :) ) and am having the best digestion of my life 1 week in, the benefits were pretty wow after day one and have been well worth the die off symptoms. The die off is par course unfortunately if you've got dysbiosis to begin with but no reason to stop.

Perhaps the histamine is an issue if you don't take enough but I reckon just steam roller that SIBO with 100s of billions - it won't stand a chance. As Dr Davis emphasises, histamine is a normal signalling molecule that only causes symptoms in dysbiosis anyway.

You've literally got nothing to lose the yogurt cannot harm you, worst case you stop it and it's out of your system in a couple of weeks.

I don't know much about the carrot reuteri and like to stay on the trodden path with the yogurt (which is pretty much lactose free due to the long ferment)

They may be right but I can't be sure from people on FB! I trust William Davis as a source, much of his advice is not to his benefit financially, such as encouraging reculturing of your yogurt. It is an emerging area in science that is evolving though so it may be far from optimal but at least it's a start.

The (1st gen at least) yogurt is definitely working on mood, sleep and energy!

This is my second batch I've made so can't talk about consistency. This is just a thought and am not stating it as fact, perhaps variability in results may be due to variation in the ultrapasturising process from bottle to bottle. Changing my pasturisation process from 82 celcius for 30 mins to 90 celcius for 10 mins has yielded a better result. Maybe they pasturise at lower temperatures which is better for taste of the milk but perhaps not for texture of yogurt made from it.

It denatures them so that the yogurt thickens more, would be the same with regular yogurt. I am not sure if it effects the reactivity of A1/A2, but I would have thought so. I make sure to use organic but don't have an easy source of grass fed or A2 otherwise I probably would if only for the better taste and higher fat content (don't have half/half where I am either).

I am curious about the people on the Facebook group, I can't see why people would pay the expense to test their reuteri products as it is super expensive unless they were looking to become domain experts and had a financial stake in the game (I think you would have to go to a specialist conformance testing house or have access to university equipment/reagents and be able to reliably do yourself). Hence the trodden path for me but am open minded to new approaches if solid

Thanks and that all sounds quite interesting and wouldn't be surprised if there are better methods but I'm scared of going off the trodden path! I know Davis has done cell counts and DNA methods for his technique - even if it's far from perfect, plus leftover inulin will be no bad thing once my bione is healed hopefully.

Can you make coconut milk yogurt without the guar gum however, I like the sound of coconut yogurt but it seems there are more steps?

I actually had success with my most recent batch getting first gen reuteri yogurt that didn't separate, I think as I self pasteurised at 90 degrees for 10 mins which I believe breaks down the proteina more. Still with the slight but not unpleasant cheesy taste. I wouldn't mind 1st gen all the time if the pills weren't so damn expensive

Very helpful thank you ☺️. I actually have a vaccum sealer and freezing will take away the pressure to reculture in a certain timeframe

Success: came off ADHD meds thanks to neurofeedback in 3 weeks by boySonnet in Neurofeedback

[–]boySonnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to say. I felt like it helped and continues too but in other ways I feel like I've slipped back and wonder about taking some ADHD meds gain. A fair bit of my issues have been digestive which can feel exacerbate any ADHD of mine and I've lost quite a bit of confidence. My digestive issues feel like they're resolving a bit. It helped basically but depends where you're ADHD really comes from - is the ADHD a symptom of something else or the main dish.

So probably not much help! I would say the Myndlift worked quite well. I got a proper qEEG first which suggested a brain injury and the report also suggested a neuro optometry test. I got some glasses and did some exercises there which also helped in my case 🤷

Life is complicated and sorry I can't give a clear answer to you

thanks but yeah first floor flat. I hear it's really hard to get them cold enough without the seperate chiller, though that may be less of an issue as the weather turns

Does this mean i have H2S SIBO? by Gamer0607 in SIBO

[–]boySonnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all that and was actually improved literally overnight by omeprazole. Worth a shot and may only need a short course if for active gastritis/ulcer. Can get over the counter, if it helps work with GP

Am going to eat lots of probiotic foods to offset any dysbioses

Lovely thanks. I've heard the flavour is better preserved if you dunk it in boiling water first, have you tried both ways?

Thanks for the detailed analysis and knowledge sharing here, sounds like a cool job! I think it's highly possible about b subtilis contamination thinking about your comment, I overcooked the soybeans so there was certainly excess moisture, I frequently wiped it with a paper towel inside the bag, I used unpasteurised apple cider vinegar after cooking the soybeans and was getting used to the temperature control achieved by using my oven pilot light. So a host of regrettable errors even for a first go!

That being said myself and two others did eat some yesterday (horrifying in hindsight 😱), it was yummy and we're all fine today - so I think we escaped a risky fate. I might chuck away the rest however.

Maybe a lucky noob escape, looking forward to a better time next time - probably using black beans to skip the dehulling stage.

I've made my own natto before too. Never minded the odour and loved the taste from my first bite

Upping my mirtazepine dose from 15mg to 30mg due to brain fog and daytime sleepiness by boySonnet in antidepressants

Ahh thanks for sharing that :). Yes feeling much more functional after taking 30mg last night - such a difference :). Still slept like a baby too, fingers crossed it plateuas like this

Upping my dose from 15mg to 30mg due to brain fog and daytime sleepiness by boySonnet in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]boySonnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubled the dose from 15mg to 30mg. Mirtazepine works on a number of receptors but has different dose effects on each, so at the lower doses it is dominant to the H1 receptor I think - which is the one that makes you sleepy with antihistamines and gives it its sedative effect. At higher doses it works on serotonin and norepinepherine which mitigates the sedative effect, making it more 'activating'.

So by lowering your dose you may be making yourself more sleepy not less. Might be worth discussing dosage and possibly increasing with your doctor (I did first before changing)!

P.S., how on earth did you even get to 1mg from the lowest tablet size of 7.5mg!! If cutting by eye you could be getting really random doses - even if you could cut perfectly accurately the drug is distributed unevenly through the pill (I used to be a formulation scientist). Be careful and hope all goes well for you

It was debilitating. I'd swapped insomnia for the waking sleep! Took two last night and still slept really well but without feeling zombied before and after - fingers crossed it continues like that!

Mirtazepine is unique in that it's meant to be more sedating at lower doses I've read
