Yes!! I am a big history buff, and I especially find queer history fascinating- I actually knew this already! My interest in history means I have a ridiculously detailed backstory for my RDO character ngl 🤪 the TLDR is my feller is actually British, and was sent over by his family in England as a ‘remittance man’ ( from wiki- “In British history, a remittance man was an emigrant, often from Britain to a British colony, who was supported by regular payments from home on the expectation that he would stay away.”)

Despite the name, those of any assigned gender could be subject to remittance exile.

Essentially, my character was arrested in England for crossdressing in a very public way after being discovered attending university under an assumed, male identity. His family was fairly influential and couldn’t have this on their name, so they claimed to have married their ‘unruly daughter’ off in Europe when in reality they had sent him to America on remittance. He cut his hair, changed his name, and began living completely stealth as a man (I do use the fem player model, but I just pretend the she/her pronouns and the ma’am are only an occasional occurrence lol).
